Yes, the word of God is yea and amen. If you start obeying the word of God, it will instantly attract persecutions, trials, tribulations, especially from those closest to you. At some point, you will have to choose between obeying God or obeying them. If might seem like something trivial, because the devil is very cunning, but If you have spiritual eyes of understanding, you will realize that it's serious. Remember that we should be prepared to die for the gospel. So there is no loving equally here. You are even meant to love God more than your own self, let alone mum/dad. My dear, run your race. Don't look to the right or left. The enemy knows our weaknesses and will use everything to pull christians down.

Yes-ish, to what @AnOrangeCat says. I think it also means that ignorance is not a defense. Because both categories of people are punished (stripes). Note, these stripes are not happening in Heaven, but in hell. So both those who sinned ignorantly and those who knowingly sinned are ending up in the same place. The verse is pointing out who receives the greater punishment (stripes). But both will be punished.
