Complaint Filed After Dr. Tells Woman She's Obese
truesunn replied to Qun Mang's topic in World News
My whole thing is... How does someone 100 or more lbs overweight NOT know this fact already? Acts like she was shocked by someone pointing out she's obese. I have big teeth, It's the truth and I know this, so if someone says "Hey, you got some Mr. Ed looking chicklets in there" how can I be surprised? I dunno, these kinds of totally rediculous suits/complaints is what drives our insurance premiums up and up and up. I'm sorry, I hope this doesn't come out wrong, but I don't think I should have to pay in the long run because Big Momma sued someone for trying to help her put down the donut box and get healthy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hahaha...true...But I don't think the problem here was that he told her she was fat...It was how he told her. Not that I'm justifying her (ridiculous) lawsuit, I am actually with you on this but don't you think there's a difference between your plastic surgeon saying: "Well, since your nose is on the larger side, larger than most, I will have to make a special appointment for you since the operation will take a little longer than usual. So you'll probably have to take more than two days off next week." and "Listen, Buffalo nose...I think I'm going to have to get a team of doctors here to help me with this huge thing because the last time I saw a nose this size I was at the zoo and I don't want to take a chance of making it worse than it is if that's even a possibility, know what I mean? Unless, have you ever thought of joining the circus with that thing?" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I understand, the doctor said she was "obese" which is the correct medical terminology to describe a condition in which the patient is 100 or more lbs overweight. It's not like he said "Hey Buffalo Butt your so big you beep when you back up" or "Man, are you fat! Do you have your own zip code?" Now THAT would be way out of line and certainly a reason for complaint... -

I saw this article. My best friend had bariatric surgery, I sent her this. She said that that doctor is doing his job, just as much as a doctor who tells his patient to stop smoking etc. What's he supposed to say? Diabetes and heart disease due to a managable condition is a good thing, keep eating those twinkies? Must not own a mirror I guess... -
Hmmm I am not exactly sure what kind of a problem you are having specifically, but if it makes you feel better, I know how you feel. I have a coworker that is very difficult for me to get along with. He has a personality that is very abrasive to me, and many times, offensive in his remarks. The person has a very confrontational side, and I avoid that sort of thing like the plague. My boss got on my case about not communicating with this person enough in everyday tasks. I don't think he understands why I don't wish to communicate with this person. He uses constantly vulgar language, has said demeaning things about women, makes references to sexual things etc. I am assuming that by mentioning Human Resources, this is the sort of thing you're referring to? My boss has even gone so far as to subtly hint that if I don't start working more with this person that "changes will be made". I FWD the email to my fiance, who was not pleased to say the least, either. The boss, did however, grant my request to be moved into a pod of my own where I don't hear as much of this abrasiveness. I know no workplace is a bed of roses, but there is such a thing as professionalism and ethics...

At the risk of being totally flamed- I am sorry but I cannot condone, support or otherwise respect any institution that teaches that women are property and are not to be educated or be employed. I don't want it around me, there is nothing more offensive on this planet than the mistreatment of women. Do you know the Quran condones beating women? (I can attempt to find the verses- I read it in a report somewhere here online). This is absolutely sickening... There was a case several years ago where a man killed his teen daughter for obtaining employment at a fast food restaurant... You can tell me all you want about "freedom of religion", but what about the basic human rights of the women who are abused every day in the name of "Allah" and "Islam"...

You must however agree, if it were some everyday Joe like you or I, we'd be hanging from the gallows right now, so to speak...

Either way, I can only imagine what the drivers next to me in rush hour were thinking when they saw the look on my face...

The bible in many places speaks of Christians segregating themselves from Idol worshippers... I can post them if you like, but will take me quite a while to find them all... Yes, we are to love our neighbors, true, but we are also to speak boldly on behalf of our Lord. Yes there is freedom of religion in this country, but more and more Christians are the ones who are being persecuted and our rights being infringed upon...
-
OK ....... So what? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> GRR @ Recess slide where after 6th grade they are segregated from the opposite sex and even bigger GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR at those black bedsheets those girls are forced to wear. How can any woman in America stand for that, Muslim or not?

Hmm so that's why they are suicide bombing their own people!!! (Sorry had to lighten the mood a little) Seriously though, up here in Michigan, in a town called Hamtramick, near Detroit, they let these folks call out prayers over a loud speaker! Now if I was hollering the book of Acts over a loudspeaker, I'd be arrested for violating a noise ordinance...

Oh boy, here we go... I agree with those who feel the scripture refers to harlots in those days. It would be maybe compaired to women wearing a tubetop and a mini-skirt to church now days. I think it is trying to convey a message of modesty. In those days, women dressed much like the devout muslims of today, and women of all walks of life covered their heads. Sorry boys, but what you have on your head does not signify whether or not you are insubmission to your own husband in your heart. I think we can all agree you'd rather have a short haired woman that is a god fearing, god following woman with the attributes he glorifies, rather than a contentious woman with a hat on...

I'm sorry dear friends, but as a trained classical musician, a "beat" in and of itself is in no way sinful, nor is there anything in the Bible that states this...The reason maybe some persons feel it's "evil" is that it they subconciously connect it with maybe a song they have heard previously, or a band, that produces questionable material. Have you ever really sat and listened to classical? Appealing to the desires of the flesh? Hmmm... It's some of the most romantic music available if you ask me, so if we use this theory stated above, then classical music is sinful as well because it gets some people "in the mood"... I find nothing wrong with any "beat" or "genre" that glorifies the Lord with the lyrics. I have also said before, Christian Rock can reach a whole flock of unbelievers that maybe other things wouldn't have. Christian Rock can be a blessing for new converts that previously played secular music, who still enjoy making music, but not the previous with questionable messages...

I had surgery last week and I was going to bring my own in with me, however I didn't because I was worried my dad would leave it somewhere like the cafeteria while I was in surgery haha It has all my highlights and notes in it! What a load of garbage... Personally, a Muslim can pray in the same room with me all they want, does it take away my saviors power? Does it make "Allah" any more legitimate? NOPE...

Oh yes, preach it... I completely understand where you are coming from. It took me many years, many tears and failed surface relationships to really get over that first heartbreak. I too am 29, and I too am single still! I finally quit bothering, and I happened to run into a christian guy who I have begun to develop a really great friendship with! Is he the right one? Well I don't know that yet! But I too have prayed for a Godly spouse for quite some time now. I believe God will send him along when he is ready, I am ready and the time is right in both our lives. There are honestly some advantages to being single right now as well. I don't have to answer to anyone, I have more time for friendships and personal enrichment through reading, attending Bible Study, etc than my married counterparts. Don't look at it like we are cursed or something, look at it as when they do finally come along, God will really bless us with the right person, and a happy future!

If someone is saying improper things to you, I don't see a problem with hanging up on them... But that is just me. I have had a lot of experiences with jerks I guess? Maybe next time just say "You know, I really don't want to hear this type of thing, I have to go now... CLICK"

LOL That is the new shorthand, developed mostly in part, due to cell phone text messaging! I understood it fine haha (Guess I am not quite an old fart yet) Breaking promises is not very Christian behavior if you ask me. We're supposed to treat others as we would like to be treated, this person isn't doing so. You know, if you are a single Christian, you really really need to be sure the person you are dating is sincerely a CHRISTIAN, a person who practices, not just preaches and not just claiming the blood of Christ to maybe appear more desirable to someone who is sincerely following Christ...

Has it not been said by someone you know- Marry your best friend? I am a woman, but I look at Jesus as more like a best friend, a mentor, someone to look up to like an older brother, personally. It says we are all God's children, and are brothers and sisters in and with Christ. Even as a female, I personally have a hard time relating my relationship with Jesus as like a romantic "bride" type thing? I love Jesus like a best friend, and like a brother. No greater love has a man that he would lay down his life for his friends...

Ummm... Ok explain this then... You have to have 2 strands of DNA for the zygote to form in the first place... It is impossible for a person to have only one strand of DNA... I'll tell you how- God's power. No science can explain or duplicate it...

Still Single After All These Years

Amen. Now that I am 30, it's so difficult to find a "good one" that isn't already attached or has such great insurmountable emotional baggage. I just keep believeing that when it's time, God will provide -
...saving for the cause of fornication... I honestly believe in my heart that God allows the innocent party to remarry. I was in a situation very similar to what you describe before I was a christian...

So I take it you believe in perpetual sin? IE every day you live with your divorced wife you are sinning? I am not real sure about that, as God says when we are forgiven, the past is wiped away by Jesus' blood and a new life is begun. (Remember the woman with 5 husbands at the well- go and sin no more) I was not the guilty party in my case... I fully and truly believe that God's word is literal on this and I am not bound to an adulterous husband. -
Big S, small s... Does the alphabet change what is being conveyed? No... Stop nitpicking already, and worry about the content and not the spelling
