  1. Then why does Paul associate it with the eucharist at all, if the real issue was that they received the knowledge of truth and continued sinning. No Paul was making a very clear distinction. He was referring to taking of the eucharist, not, claiming to be followers of Christ and doing the opposite. Paul seams to be making a clear statement that the eucharist is very much part of the issue. God Bless, K.D.
  2. If you read the entire passage the context is not an abuse of the elements. rather the issue was a situation where there were divisions. They were holding a love feast along with the Lord's supper where some were not eating at all and some were getting drunk. It was a heart issue, not an element issue. Context is everything [/quote I agree they were having a drunk fest and making a mockery of the eucharist. Absolutely it was a heart issue. Just like in this thread people are making a mockery of the eucharist. In context please explain how making a mockery of a piece of bread would make you guilty of sinning against the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The passage says you must take it in a worthy manner. If it is only a piece of bread what difference would it make. Tell me what it means to be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Nice to hear from you Eric. God Bless, K.D.
  3. If in-fact the bread and wine are nothing special, no more than reminders like a picture then why would scripture say this, 1 Corinthians 11:27 27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. How could they sin against the body and blood if the eucharist was nothing more than a reminder? Kansas Dad
  4. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Islam come from the line of Ishmiale (? sp) who was the illegitimate son of Abraham. Sarah couldn't have children so Abraham took a servant girl. Later Sarah became pregnant and they sent the servant girl and Ishmiale away. K.D.
  5. Actually it is in the works. I just read an article about Gay clergy "coming out" and how upset they are at the Vatican for taking such a "mean spirited" stance on Homosexual Priest. Things are definitely being stirred up. God Bless, K.D.
  6. Um, well...believe it or not, fireplaces are "standard equipment" in NM. I don't know why....it was this way when we got here. Every house has a fireplace...no matter what. It can get into the 30's here during the winter. At night, it usually dips into the 40's every night. Desserts get pretty toasty during the day but cold at night. But, sad to say...no snow. Santa Fe, NM has snow as often as any northern city. It's 7,000 feet above sea level. We're about 3,200 feet above sea level where I live. *(Oh, and NO hurricanes here!) We took a vacation to Arizona and went through the painted dessert. It snowed on us. we were running around in the dessert in the middle of a snow storm. Cool huh. Had to drive through a blizzard in the mountains though....not so cool Kansas Dad

The problem that isn't getting answered is. If two people read the exact same Bible and are discussing the exact same verse and have very different opinions at to the meaning of the verse or verses. So much of a difference in fact that they form totally different theologies based from their interpretations. Where do you turn. You can't turn to scripture, it is scripture itself that is being debated. Thus if you have the church fathers stating that this is how the Apostles have taught us as to the interpretation of this verse, or issue and you have some one hundreds or thousands of years later saying yes but this is how I interpret this verse or issue, Does the Bible tell us whom has the authority of the Holy spirit? What a wonderful reply. THANK YOU. FYI My wife and I were asked to lead the Jr. High formation classes this year. We were required to attend a training class on child abuse within the church and in general. We watched a film where two convicted child molesters talked of the how and why. There lack of remorse was shocking. All parishes through out the Catholic church are required to have this training. Furthermore a criminal background check was also required. As far as I know the Catholic church is the only church going to such lengths to address the issue. I also know they have gone to great lengths to address the issue at the seminaries as well. Sorry, I do not know to what extent they are dealing with the Priest on hand, but as extensive as the response has been I am sure they are dealing with it at that level as well. God Bless, Kansas Dad
  10. There is something built into our psyche that we have a very difficult time forgiving ourselves. God has already forgiven you of your sin, but we humans tend to bind ourselves to the sin and the guilt of the sin. It is critical that you "confess" your sin to another person. Not to receive Gods forgiveness, this has already happened, but for your own walk in the forgiveness. First speak with your pastor, lay it all out, everything, including how you feel and your fears. But also know this, you will need to also confess to your husband. Let your pastor guide you in the timing. God will heal your marriage but only if you bring everything to the light. Satan

  12. Re: "Pope Benedict Arnold" That was quite clever...........but totally uncalled for, WSB. :-( Pope Benedict would probably agree with you that foundational doctrine IS being tossed by most denominations ----except the RCC. He is one of the MOST conservative, doctrinally-grounded men you will ever meet, having been "keeper of the faith" for the RCC before becoming Pope. The RCC has not "tossed" any doctrine by virtue of the fact that we are not literalists. The RCC holds that the Bible cannot and does not err in matters of faith and morals. We are strict absolutists.......not relativists at all. You only need to look at our stand on moral issues, abortion for example, to see this. Peace, WSB, F God Bless you Sis: But several members have had a hatred for the Catholic church seared into their hearts, They have listened to all the lies, all the exaggerations, and have branded them into their hearts. No amount of reality is going to alter their perceptions. Pope Benedict can lead the most Christ loving life a man could live and they would still hate him. Saying derogatory comments about him every chance they get. They judge him by rumors, lies and innuendoes. You can share with them the truth but they will not hear it. All of these "objections" have been addressed over and over again yet they continue to use the same exaggerations and lies. They are quite Blind. I think it is time to just turn it over to the Holy Spirit. God Bless, Kansas Dad God Bless, Kansas Dad
  13. Sorry this might be unpopular, but I can see this guy getting all bent out of shape about the $25 and refusing to pay it. But then he cries foul when he doesn't have the protection. He knew what the risk were and he let $25, and his pride, get in the way of protecting his family and property. We have a whole society that doesn't want to face the consequences of their stupid decisions. You know if everyone decided to not pay the $25 I doubt there would be a fire department at all. I'll bet he pays the $25 next time. Not being PC today Kansas Dad
  14. Tess mentioned abuse and you mention sexual sin. I have never heard this before. Are there actual studies on this or is it just something you have heard? I wouldn't want to be part of satans method of attacking the body of Christ. Hey where is the spell check???? God Bless, Kansas Dad
  15. Ya know, sometimes I think the Amish just might have it all figured out. Other than the beard thing, I tried growing a beard once. Two weeks later my wife made me shave it off. How about when you see a family pray in a resturant. Sure sets them apart! God Bless, Kansas Dad
  16. Actually Green tea and Black Tea are very healthy drinks. I try to have a cup every morning. Put a little lemon with it, and I like it better than coffee. So you go ahead and smack everyone in the head with a 2x4 because God told you it is ok and I'll take God and a cup of Tea. Lets see, Tea...Hot and invigorating, or ....Cold and refreshing. A 2x4 painful, a weapon, asserts the power of the wielder over the receiver. The 2x4 approach is fine as long as it is God wielding the 2x4 and not "you" wielding it through your own pride. God Bless, Kansas Dad <{POST_SNAPBACK}> New Englanders always throw tea into the Harbor. too much burden---you see. I have never been to New England, would love to in the fall though drink up, and don't be concerned about someone elses pride, when you don't have any. God said the humble will inherit the kingdom of God, but I, like all men, struggle with pride, how about you? Do you ever struggle with pride? the 2 x 4 doesn't belong to me, I only use a sword. Yes I know and there in lies the problem. perhaps, its a plank in your eye reflecting back, you see. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without question I have planks in my eyes, and God will help me work on them. How about you, do you have any planks in your eyes? What did God mean when he said the Humble will inherit the kingdom of God? God Bless, Kansas Dad

Reggie Sanders set a LDS record today with 6 RBI's, 4 of those from a grand slam! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't want to talk about baseball, The KC Royals are so pathetically terrible, I can't even follow the playoffs, AND then the Chiefs let me down too! Come on K-State....Oh crud, they lost too. It is very very sad across the land of OZ this week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ya know rooting for a Kansas team takes a lot of faith...or is it work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One might say it is the sports equivalent of eating quiche <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo

  24. But she makes really good brownies at the pot lucks!
  25. I was reading 1st Corinthians and read again one of my favorite verses. In the end only three things will last, faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. God doesn't want just our faith, he wants our love. Faith without love is nothing. Our Godly works is an expression of our love. If we are not expressing our love I don't think we really have faith. You can not have one with out the other. If you do not have faith then you can not express the love through Godly works that goes with it. Like wise, if you are not expressing love through Godly works then you don't have faith. Anyone claiming to have faith without the evidence of love is only fooling themselves. God Bless, Kansas Dad
