  1. I'm not sure Russel why the Bible says that YHWH repented. but if you read the scripture where the people of isreal rejected God and demanded to have a king over them you will read the prophetic warning that God told samuel to give to the people. Of course God knew what would happen even before he apointed Saul as king and everything samuel said came true.

    1 Samuel 8

1 Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. 3But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.

Thanks Adstar...yes trying to understand why God Choose Saul...then repenting (regretting) for choosing him... is hard to understand. :whistling:

On another tack...Samuel must have felt very disappointed as a father of two sons who didn't measure up. I wonder where he went wrong...or was it nothing to do with his fathering skills...but rather their own bad choices?

  2. I have a question in regard to this verse. YHWH is all knowing....seeing the end from the beginning.

I was wondering why the Bible says that YHWH repented...for YHWH would have known that Saul would defy Him. In fact why even choose Saul knowing that he would rebel. Just wondering?

  3. Greetings!

I have done research to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is indeed God incarnate.

God Almighty is represented in three eternal persons, example this verse: to Phil.1:2 "Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord" I will explain in depth each members of the Triune God and their co-equal relationships. Hebrews 9:14 - How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Who is the Eternal Spirit? Or who is the {HOLY SPIRIT} according to Biblical Truth? The Son is Eternal and without beginning: Hebrews 13:8 " Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever." Micah 5:2 " speaking of Jesus-whose goings forth are from old {ancient times} from everlasting {eternity}"

Christ is not a created being, however this verse in Scripture clearly refutes any claim that oppose it. In this passage we see that the Son was involved in the Creation: Hebrews 1:2 - Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Colossians 1:16 - For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Also there has been so-called refutations that state that there are many gods! and Jesus being just one.

Then we have the Holy Spirit who is also involved in the Creation: Psalms 104:30 -Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. Job 33:4

  4. Now here is how I see things. I see The Father is The Father, and The Son is The Father, and the Son, and The Holy Spirit is The Father, and The Holy Spirit. I see The Father is in control, and is over Christ, and The Holy Spirit, and they are separate beings in One sense, and The Father is His Word, and The Holy Spirit. I want to be more clear, but I think circular thinking is required to understand. So I go back, and forth.

The Word of God is God The Father's Word inside of Him, and yet The Word was sent out of Him, so He The Son who is The Word is less then Him also. He The Word in the first understanding is Him though. Thus in the separation The Son alone is called Jesus Christ. In the other understanding of The Father being His Word, and The Word being in The Father, He The Word is The Word of The Father, and therefore is The Father is The Word. So the oneness can be explained in The Word being The Father, and being less then Him which makes Him The Son.

The Father, and His Holy Spirit is The Father, but yet is less then Him also because He listens to Him. The Holy Spirit is The Spirit of God, which means in The separation, The Spirit which came from God, and also that means since He came from God He is The Very Spirit of The Father.

In understanding The Holy Spirit came upon marry, we can see The Word went into her, by, and through The Holy Spirit, and yet The Holy Spirit is said to be The Father, thus in The Oneness The Holy Spirit is The Father, and created The Son in Mary, or put The Word in marry, and The Word is said to be The Sword of The Spirit, thus The Word, and The Spirit are One.

Now the question is does a person need to be baptized in the understanding of The Oneness? Do we as people need to understand The Son is also The name of The Father, and The Holy Spirit, or can we choose the understanding of The Father, The Word, and The Holy Spirit being The separation, and get baptized in the separation, and can that be God's perfect will. This is both a question, and a comment, or statement.

To put it simply....that's confusin.

  5. Hey Russell, you ask a difficult question because we so often do not recognize the pride in our own lives.  For me it took a really good friend just asking me, "Is there pride in your life?" and it hit me like a ton of bricks.  God just opened my eyes to how I had been my entire life!  It really takes a revelation from God.  However, I will try and give you some questions that someone can ask to see if maybe they are in pride.

Do I worry and feel offense when my counsel and suggestions are ignored?

Do I quickly challenge statements that underrate my abilities and attack my goodness?

Do I feel great embarrassment when others, with less background, can answer questions that I cannot?

Do I feel indignant with faultfinders who point out my misdeeds?

Do I encourage compliments and praise?

Do I quickly try to put people "in their place"?

Do I shun correction and hate instruction, especially when it comes from the less noble of the LORD's people?

Do I belittle the deeds of others?

I would also suggest you keep following this study and try to examine yourself based on the comparison's of proud vs. broken people.  Do you fall more under the characteristics of the proud person?  Ask God to reveal to you if you are in pride.  He will.  I know that through this God is revealing to me areas where I am lacking.  I hope that I have adequately answered your question, God is still teaching me alot about this area.

    God Bless!

    Debbie

Some very insightful answers there Debbie. Proverbs tells us in 13v10 (NIV)

    "Pride only breeds quarrels,

But wisdom is found in those who take advice."

Trying to see pride in our everyday lives is significant....for if we can recognize it for what it is...we can then allow the Holy Spirit to change that proud and stubborn spirit within us...that so often afflicts us and is the breeding ground of QUARRELS.

Might I add that it is not us that recognises it.... but rather the Spirit of YHWH working in us... that speaks to us.

How blessed we are in these situations for we can then begin to humble ourselves over these thoughts....aligning ourselves closer to Christ

Remember the Israelites and how God often called them stiffnecked and stubborn....if only they were in a state of mind to recognize their own pride ...they would not have felt the heavy hand of God's judgment upon them....and would have been an example for all nations.

    Blessings

  6. Hi Debbie, yes you have touched on a very important topic for all people.

I have a question for you. How do we recognize pride in our own lives. I mean what are the signs in our everyday life that should prompt us to reflect on what we say and do.

    Blessings

  7. This topic has been raised many times on this board and rightly so. It is a very interesting discussion.

Some time back a reply was made by Marilyn and I thought it so apt I saved it and have posted it here for your info:

Scripture portrays God as being absolutely sovereign (Acts 15:8; Ephesians 1:11;Psalm 135:6). Scripture also portrays man as having a free will (Genesis 3:1-7). It is certainly inscrutable to man's finite understanding how both divine sovereignty and human free will can both be true, but both doctrines are taught in Scripture. In fact, both of these are often seen side by side in the span of a single Scripture verse.

For example, in Acts 2:23 we read of Jesus: "This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross." Here we see divine sovereignty ("by God's set purpose and foreknowledge") and human free will ("you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death").

We also see both doctrines in Acts 13:48: "When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honoured the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed." God's sovereignty is clear ("all who were appointed for eternal life") as is man's free will ("believed").

It has been sugested that divine sovereignty and human free will are like parallel railroad tracks that are often found side by side in Scripture, and the tracks never come together on this side of eternity. When we enter glory, we will no doubt come to a fuller understanding of these biblical doctrines. Now we see as a mirror darkly. Then we shall see clearly (1 Corinthians 13:12).

God is the Sovereign "I AM"

  8. [

The name of the Lord God is Yahweh (Jehovah) and HE is our Father (Is 63:16). In the new testament his name is Jesus Christ. The title Father does not designate another God or being but is simply a description of the relationship between the Lord God (Yahweh) and man. Jesus Christ said that God is SPIRIT. Here again, Jesus did not say that the Spirit is another being , person or god, but that the essence of God is Spirit. GOD THE FATHER IS THE ETERNAL INVISIBLE HOLY SPIRIT and HE is ONE only and not three . This only one God revealed himself in the flesh in Jesus Christ. The nature of God which is SPIRIT,combined in the nature of man (flesh) Does this fact constitute two gods or persons? Defenitely

    not.

You find the scriptures about God in Jesus Christ under "Doctrines".

My question to Caspar Meyer is, "Are you saying that Jesus was YHWH in the Old Testament?"

  9. I voted, "It is secondary..."

When I consider the word, "essential" I think of something being so integral to the faith that without it the faith would be incomplete.  Strictly speaking, the doctrine of the Trinity is not an "essential" to the faith.  I think that many evangelical leaders would probably  :)  at this statement, but if you consider the fact that this doctrine is not included anywhere in the Pauline epistles, then you have to confess that it is really not an essential per se.  I agree that understanding that God is Triune is beneficial to the faith, and can be seen in many examples in the Bible.  But when we talk about essentials I just don't see it there.

Regardless of the number of definitions and creeds that have been created over the past 1,700 years of church history, man has yet to come up with an absolute understanding of the Trinity.  In fact, I believe that the Trinity can never be absolutely explained or understood by humans.  Therefore, since all have are a few "at best" attempts at defining the Trinity, I really don't see how this could be an essential to the faith.  Rather than quibble over which definition is the most accurate, I prefer to stick to the enjoying the Lord through His Word, prayer, praise, etc.

    Well said. My understanding too.

  10. The Trinity is an essential doctrine of the Christian faith.  One cannot claim to believe in Biblical Christianity and deny the Trinity.

My question for Shilo is, historically speaking, " In what century did the Trinity doctrine originate." It certainly wasn't the first.

I would appreciate your historical evidence on this, for in making this statement you automatically eliminate 1st century Christians.

  11. God have mercy, Christ have mercy.

God revealed to me today why I feel so connected to these hostages and I'm better able to deal with this now I think. In a nutshell, when I was tortured and raped for 4 hours, 2 of which I was tied up, the whole time he kept telling me he was going to kill me when he was done punishing me. That whole time the fear and the waiting was near unbearable. I know what these hostages are thinking and feeling when they are waiting. The difference obviously is that I wasn't murdered, but that impending feeling is the most horrible thing. For I really did think he was going to kill me and the way he said was pretty much just as brutal as what was done to these men. I'm o.k. I can look back at that night and think about it if needed or talk about it with no problem, but it is just now today that I finally understand my connection. And this is not a water faucet I can turn off and on as I so desire. From now on, I will commit to standing in the gap for these hostages and even though they do not know it...there really is someone out here that knows exactly what they are going through, thinking, feeling, and praying.

Love to you all through our Jesus...for I so adore and love Him,

    Ref

    Hi Ref,

This might seem a strange question but I believe YHWH has a reason for letting all that happens to us... happen for a reason. Can i ask you... how would you answer this question...why would YHWH allow such a thing to happen to you...if it is not a too sensitive question.

I ask this for i have seen things happen and later have realised the answer. Now none of these things compare to your ordeal...but i am interested in your take on this question.

    Blessings

  12. What the succeeding articles are saying to us is that marriages are failing because the individuals in them are failing to be Christ-like in attitude, and that when those attitudes are changed, there is every reason to believe that we can build a secure, loving, and wonderfully rewarding relationship in our marriages.

So true angel. Not so easy to do....it might be better to get out relationship with Jesus in order first...so that our marriages can stand a chance.

    Thanks for posting.

  13. -But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue with G-d.

-uhhhhhhh??Botz-ole-chapp cudd yuse supply jest EXactly WHERE this scripture is located pleeezzeee?? OR is it a scripture at all??hmmmm??:t2:

-uhhhh??mayhap it is a quote from some intellectual literature that we might all benefit from??hmmmmm??

Come to think of it shadow that's a good point.

I wonder what botz is trying to say here?? :t2:

  14. What a lovely post, Russel...Hey, would you consider running for president? We could use someone with that kind of mindset in office!

    Thanks cats,

President...i don't think they would like me.

First up i would ask people to repent of their sin....the sin that is bringing so much of God's judgment upon us.

    Blessings

  15. This topic has wide ranging effects on our relationships with those we love and associate with.

God's amazing grace is extended to us for our entire lifetime. I mean as we grow in the Lord Jesus...we stumble...we get back up. YHWH is so patient with our personnal traits. Look at the atheists who come on this board. Has YHWH rejected them...even though they will not even acknowledge Him. Not until they breath their last breath ...are they rejected.

Likewise those who we associate with...our families...our friends...our workmates...how often have we lost our patience with them and said to ourselves...i don't want anything to do with them anymore. And yet grace is saying ...be patient... they too were created just like you.

So let God's grace move in our lives, in such a way that allows those we associate with.... grow in the knowledge of what grace is all about...allowing God's blessings to multiply in us... to give us joy...peace...self control...wisdom... faith...hope and love.

Amazing grace how sweet thou art,

That saved a wretch like me!

  16. A quick understanding of this is God The Father is Himself, and is not less then Himself, yet He sent The Word out of Himself, and The Word became separate, yet still in The Father, and The Word is The Father, and yet less then the Father, both are The Father, but The Word is in manifestation The Father, and is less then Him that is why we call Him The Word, and not The Father, but that is also why we call Him The Father. We are made in God's image, the word we have inside of us, comes out from us, and is with us, and when the word comes from us, the word accomplishes the purposes the word has, thus this is what happened with YaHoSHia(Jesus), you might be surprised to understand YaHoSHia, is in Hebrew how I believe YeHuSHua is really said, I got this from the time when David, spoke to The Philistine, Goliath. Why do I think this, because YaH is The Name of God, and HoSHia well you can look up the prophet HoSHia, and find out what that means. It is a good understanding.

This is your brother, AfJ, :D

I have come to say :D

    But these few words :D

    To bring clarity :x:

    To edify :suspect:

To ease the pain :sweating: :sweating:

    For your poor brain. :!!!:

  17. So just following on from the above.

    1. Can John 1:1 be translated this way; "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was divine".

I am just trying to establish some facts here.

2a. If we quote the Bible should we not keep to Biblical words. The word Trinity is not Biblical...so if one wishes to replace this word would not Godhead be a more Biblical word.

2b. Also "God the Son" is not a Biblical phrase...rather "Son of God" is so can this reference be used.

    3. Now Jesus is referred to as Isa 9:6 as "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

    4. Is Jesus YHWH of the Old Testament...this will bring some bearing to the argument...if He is than what name is given to His Father?

    That is enough for now.

    Blessings

  18. Seriously man...break it up into readable paragraphse please....

    I only got this far....

Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God has taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel. Romans 9:8 That is they which are the children of the flesh(sins), these (are) not the children of Eloheem(God), but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." The Promise are those who believe in Jesus Christ in what ever language, and who obey Him. No matter who they are, they are Israel in the spiritual,

English and writing were not his best subjects yod.

Maybe he's excellant at maths.

  19. Yes, I would love to respond once we firmly establish the deity and sovereignty of Jesus Christ as God the Son.

The problem with these type of doctrinal agruments is that normally we come at it from our own personnal beliefs. That is, if you are a Trinity believer there is no way any Scripture will sway your beliefs...likewise if you are not a Trinity believer...neither will you be swayed by any Scripture.

It is similiar to the athiest who believes in evolution and the believer who believes in creation ...each has his own faith and to a large degree it is faith ...for none of us were there when it all began.

So this type of argument should be started on the basis that each of us...discard our own personnal opinions...which is near impossible if you are passionate about your point of view... and analyze the Bible critically in a systamatic and logical fashion...laying the different points of view on the table...left and right side.

Studying these carefully and being open to a variety of counsel. Then after much research...conclusions can be made.

I am endeavering to do this and it will take some time...but if those who wish to post can keep this in mind...a sensible argument can be made from a passionate subject.

    Blessings

  20. I have a suggestion.....  no a request.  We all agree that there is three.  The Father, The Son and The Spirit.  I think that this entire subject would be a lot less confusing if we describe (God) when we use it.  This is what is confusing to me, for when you use the word you may be referring to one or all of the three.  That is only correct if you are predisposed that they are one and the same, which some on us do not believe.  So, we take this conversation around and around for we are having a discussion and using the same word to mean different things.  My request is to define the word "God" when you use it so I don't get confused as to what you are talking about.

I do believe that Jesus is the "I AM" of the old testament.  He is not the Father nor equal to the father or He would not be subject to the Father as I stated in a previous post.  The people of the old testament were not aware of the Father for they only saw the image of the Father through "I AM"  Thus the plural form of the words that describe what we are calling (God)

That is what Jesus was is telling us, that Jesus has made it possible for us (mortal human beings) to have access to the Father (through the Spirit) if we accept Jesus as the begotten Son of the Father, which is something that did not exist in the days prior to the cross.

The three are our Godhead but not equal.  I can blaspheme the Father and the Son and receive forgiveness, but not the Spirit.  After the kingdom is firmly established and Lucifer and his followers are disposed of then; Jesus (the Son) will be subject to the Father.  They are still different and not equal.

I don't see this as a part of salvation outside believing that Christ is the actual Son of the Father (born of a virgin); this we must believe.

I hope some of us are not saying that we must take the generalized definition of the Trinity to attain salvation........

    Sam

So if we follow this line of thinking thru Sam, than Jesus is YHWH of the Old Testament. So what is His Fathers Name?
