  1. How important is physical appearance when it comes to achieving success or getting one's way in life? Unfortunately in our current society physical appearance is everything. The beautiful people are the ones that get the jobs, the attention whether they are qualified or not. Because of the media portraying the idea person to be slim, beautiful/handsome the majority of us average looking people really don't get the advantage to prove ourselves before a judgment is made and it is a judgment. Thats why so many of our young people who feel they don't measure up to the ideal either starve themselves or get cosmetic surgery. Young children and teens are constantly picked on and often tragic coincidences occur because of it. Like bullying, taunting, suicide and even killing their aggressors. In the times we live in I don't think at this point it will change, beauty will always take precedence over average. In some countries though beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, but not here. Thank Jesus we can count on You to treat us fairly! What do you think? Marilyn
  2. What do you think are the most common misconceptions people have of God? From what I hear most from people is that God is love, and they go no farther. How limited they are in their thinking! God is so many things to so many people. To me He is a God of conviction, He is my still small voice, He refines me, He is a warrior, He is the victor, He is my shield and my breastplate, He is my protector, He gives me unconditional love, He gave me life, and He is the great "I Am!" What are some of the misconceptions of God that you have come across and how can we let others know just how much more He is? Our God Reigns Marilyn
  3. Called I have an apology for you. When you first came on here, I said some things that were flippant and not very respectful. I can't remember the topic right now, I'm lucky if I can remember yesterday. But I know it was not very Christian of me and for that I'm deeply sorry. I hope you can forgive me. I really enjoy reading your posts, you have alot of insight into the Word of God and you have a genuine love for your brothers and sisters in Christ. I really admire your enthusiasm, you always seem to be up and happy. I wish I could be more like that. I get depressed way to easily and I lack the self confidence that you have. Again I'm sorry for anything I may have said in the past to upset you. John you have become such a good friend and I value your wisdom and your compassion for others here. You are so caring and your love for the Lord is very evident whenever you post. No wonder so many of us like to confide in you its because of your genuine love of your brothers and sisters here, and your gift of peacemaker. I hope I have not said anything in the past to hurt you and If I did I'm truly sorry, please except my apology. I really appreciate your friendship, love and support right from the beginning. I know I can always count on you no matter what. Tess, sweetie I know your out there please come back. It was not anyones intention to deliberately hurt you. You are a very important part of Worthy, you have been a light in the darkness to me especially. Your love of the Lord is like a beacon that is very much needed here. Please come back and let us support you in what ever is going on in your life. We need you and I suspect you need us too, please give us a chance to apologize to you. You have many friends here that care about what happens to you. Besides I'm not going to give up until you do! I know when you are 15 and when you have been hurt its awful hard to trust again, but please give us another chance ok? If you want to talk please send me a Pm, I would love to talk to you. In His Unfailing Love Marilyn
  4. Carol we have to get together sometime we could have a blast. I also make fimo jewerly, hair ornaments and do some rubber stamping. 5. Calamity Have I got antiques for you my dad has a whole house full, barn full, and two sheds full. My dad never got rid of anything, he has little pathways through the house and buildings my sister and I are going to be walking into a nightmare when he passes away. But he won't part with anything unless the price is right and who knows what that would be!
  6. I love to cook too. I took two years of it in College. I love to create my own recipes, try different spices, herbs, flavourings. In fact in 1990 I won a Canada wide cooking contest the prize was a week long all expense paid trip to the Bahamas. My mother asked me to come up with a recipe for a contest that our hospital was sponsoring, through the Canadian Dietetic Society. So I sat down one evening and wrote out two recipes sent them in and forgot about them. Until I got the phone call telling me I'd won. What a shock so mom and I went down to Toronto to a press conference in a restaurant there and they served my recipe that was the first time I'd ever tried it. When I made up the recipe it was off the top of my head and I just sent it in without trying it. The recipe was Fish Steaks with Basil Walnut Sauce. It was pretty good actually! I was sure glad I could share that trip with my mom we had a great time and now that she is gone its a wonderful memory of her. The recipe was published in their cookbook and also in one of our nationwide magazines called Ch
  7. - Gary, my dearest Bro... Sheesh, dude, that last pie(s) of yours were uncalled for Bro. Marilyn made a very valid point. She is trying to promote healing, and I applaud her for that and I stand with her. This is not the time for levity. It is a time for prayer, reflection, confession and forgiveness. Pleeeeeease Bro, this is neither the time nor place for pie tossing. Sorry if I offended you Bro, but you NEED to hear this. This was not an issue of doctrine, false or true. Rather it was personal between members of the body. Some were hurt very deeply. All involved need to do as WISDOM suggested. It is not a funny or light thing when members of the body are personally hurt and hurt other members, especially over non-essential issues. I pray that the love, grace and mercy of the Lord touch all hearts that were involved in this matter. In His Love, Bro John Thanks John another voice of reason from out of the wilderness. I choose not to respond to Gary I'll let God do that. I just hope that some of you new people to Worthy will not read through this topic and get the wrong impression of us here, we are not always this callous to our brothers and sister's in Christ. It can happen when we let self take over our mouth instead of listening to His voice. And I am just as guilty because I let my anger take over for awhile and for that I deeply apologize to anyone that was offended by what I said. We should always try and look at the big picture instead of how it effects us. There are always other people watching and evaluating our every move, not just God but new Christians and those seeking to understand what the Christian life is all about. Thank you to those who took the high road and backed off, that was really the only way to go. That shows maturity in your walk with the Lord and letting Him take over, not self. From the Song: Only A God Like You - By Tommy Walker Only A God like You, could be worthy of my praise And all my hope and faith, To only a King of all kings Do I bow my knee and sing, Give my everything Only a God like You, Could be worthy of my praise All my hope and faith, To only a King of all kings Do I bow my knee and sing. Give my everything To only my Maker, my Father, my Saviour, Redeemer, Restorer, Rebuilder, Rewarder To only a God like You----DO I GIVE MY PRAISE Our God Reigns!! Marilyn
  8. Thank You Wisdom and Dr. Luke for bringing the voice of reason and sanity back into this topic. I suggest that all of us who made uncalled for comments of any kind to one another ask God for forgiveness first and then be courageous enough to go to those that have been hurt and ask them for forgiveness. Do unto others as you would have done to you. And to the pie throwers this was really not the right time for that, forgiveness should of been the first priority and then the levity. Some people are still hurting and that needs to be corrected first. The pie throwing in this situation was in poor taste, I know you were trying to lighten the mood, but first things first. And thank you to the mods for not pulling it yet. We need to do some soul searching first. Refiners Fire---Holy Spirit Marilyn
  9. It never ceases to amaze me on this board how one simple question can generate so much animosity and so quickly. The question was "Does God 'USE' pain"---not does God 'INFLICT' pain! These are two very different questions. The question 'Does God use pain is a very personal question.' Meant to generate dialogue concerning your own personal experiences. How it turned into World War Three is beyond me. Now we have people in tears, people who are angry, people with hurt feelings who have decided to leave Worthy or threatening to leave. How can something deteriorate into a war of words just blows my mind. When I posted the question and answered it from my personal experience was just that my personal experience. There is no right or wrong answer to this question its just a question! Alot of hurtful things were said here on both sides that should never have been said. If you disagree with someones answer please do not attack their opinion, its not fair, not right, and its not done in Christian love. Because of some of the decisions now to leave Worthy you have fallen into the enemies trap, he comes to cause division, strife, anger, and bad feelings especially among Christians. He just got alot of points today because of all this anger and bitterness. Tess you need to come back because you have alot to offer, you have wisdom beyond your years, your concept of Scripture is amazing. Please don't give into the enemy by walking away. I understand your hurt feelings, really I do, I have been hurt on this forum too, by people I really trusted and grown to love. And I did leave for a bit, the internet is a big place and I thought that by leaving I was going to show them a thing or two. But you know I was the one missing out, this board really is anointed by the Holy Spirit, sure there are a few thorns here and there that aggravate the heck out of me sometimes. But on the whole the people here really love the Lord and really do love each other. I felt really out of place when I first came here too Tess, wondering if I would be accepted if anyone would respond to my posts, but they did Tess, the welcome mat was out and the love of Christ shone through. Please Tess give it another chance here, I for one would miss you terribly, so would Carol, Super Jew, Trinity you have alot of friends here Tess, we can be a support system for you and you for us. Don't hide all that wonderful Scripture knowledge and Christ's love from us you have alot to give. And Eric you have many, many friends here too, people that love and respect you for the knowledge you have gained over the years, for your advice, and for your deep love of the Lord. No one needs to leave this place do not let Satan get a foot hold in your walk with God because of some disagreements its not worth it. We all have a right to our opinions on this topic and any other that is on here, as long as we all agree on the fundamentals of Salvation everything else is open to interpretation. And if you don't agree with someones opinion all you have to do is say why you don't agree, your reasons why, and please say it with respect to others feelings. I don't know why we have to make this so difficult. Not one of us here on this board has a monopoly on pain and suffering, or on things we can teach each other, we need to realize this and respect the boundaries of speaking to each other in Christ's love. I hope you will all reconsider your decisions and not make any of them in anger or bitterness. This was just a simple question people not to divide but to just get some dialogue going about your experiences, nothing more nothing less. Do not let division rule your hearts ask God for His guidence. In His Love Marilyn
  10. Amen Tess! Thats a great Scripture, you have a wonderful sense of the Scriptures. I wish I had known that much when I was younger. Keep on reading Tess you are doing just great let your light shine for Him. He will use you mightly! Luv Ya Marilyn
  11. Eric I think you should simmer down. There are ways to argue a point, disagree on a point without getting confrontational. Its arguments that get personal that get a topic pulled, and that was not my intention when I posted this topic, it was just to generate conversation, everyone has different experiences concerning this subject. Everyone will interpret this question differently, there is no right or wrong answer Ok? Its when people get hotheaded, start making accusations that gets a really good topic pulled when instead we could discuss it objectively, listen to other peoples opinions and above all respect them. I had a perfectly good topic going last month asking the question: "Should Christian's go to church" and because a few people on here decided that their opinion was the only right opinion and started getting nasty with their fellow brothers and sisters it got yanked! That is not fair, if you have an opinion please just state it BUT DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL! This is really making me angry, we (most of us are adults) if you can't get your point across without being nasty then please don't make it in the first place. It is a bad witness to new Christians, or people seeking to know God in a personal way and if all they see is bickering going on between each other that is not setting a good example . YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER---NOW STOP IT! The people that have argued about this topic need to go to each other and ask for forgiveness before irreparable damage is done. No topic is worth loosing friendships over. No wonder some people leave the boards, because of this childish behaviour. Whenever you post a reply to a topic before you hit POST this reply, check it over, ask God does this edify You, will it hurt someones feelings? This pettiness has to stop right now, its called respect for another persons thoughts and opinions. Sorry about going off, but I don't want to see another perfectly good topic go south because a few can't hold their tongues!! Where is The Christian Agape Love Marilyn
  12. Ya Ted I hear you count me in!! Sometimes ya just have to take a stand and let the chips fall where may. Marilyn

  14. North Korea works on new missiles The United States has determined that North Korea is working on new ballistic missile systems designed to deliver nuclear warheads and that it is testing the technology by proxy in Iran, said a Bush administration official. Having agreed to a self-imposed test ban, North Korea is sharing technology information with Iran, which carries out missile tests on North Korea's behalf, the administration official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The missile program is based on Russian technology and has been conducted with help from Russian scientists - help the United States thinks may be continuing, the official said. Prophetic Perspective: Again, President Bush's "Axis of Evil" can be clearly seen within growing global terrorism. The "evil" that lies at the heart of the worries and fears of geopoliticians are more and more looking like the same worries and fears that make up the end-time mix of terrors within Bible prophecy. North Korea and Iran are thought to be in cahoots with Russia, each an entity observably desiring to destroy or enslave other peoples. And don't be deceived: Russia presents every bit as great a threat as when they were the nucleus of the USSR. North Korea lies within the Asian realm east of the Euphrates, the region from which the "kings of the east" will rage toward Armageddon (Read Revelation chapters 9 and 16). Iran (at the center of ancient Persia) is scheduled to come against Israel, led, many prophecy teachers believe, by Russia and the future leader called "Gog" (Read Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39). Jesus said that if the time was not shortened (that is, if He didn't return when He will) all flesh on earth would perish. Considering the concern expressed within this news story, it is not unreasonable to believe nuclear weapons being prepared at present will be used in that most horrific time of human history perhaps about to break upon the world. Before that seven-year period of apocalyptic events -the wrath of God-begins, Jesus will say to His Church, "Come up hither" (Rev. 4:1). For if you are born again -have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior-- there is no reason to fear. God has promised, through the prophecy given by Paul the Apostle: "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do" (1 Thes. 5:9-11). Marilyn
  15. Couple refuses to remove anti-abortion sign, risking fines and jail A couple who placed an anti-abortion sign on their Dauphin County home are refusing to heed borough officials' demand to remove the sign or risk a $500 and up to two months in jail. Paxtang officials say the sign violates the borough ordinance that permits "signs for public, religious and charitable institutions and uses such as parks, schools, churches and similar uses." Colman and Frances Wessel attached the sign to their front porch three weeks ago. "We're just exercising our freedom of speech and religion," said Colman Wessel said. "Is it the pro-life words or the picture of Jesus they don't like?" Codes enforcement officer Brian Seneca said in a letter to the couple that their sign "does not promote a charity of any kind. Therefore, you are required to remove the sign immediately" or risk fines and jail time. Prophetic Perspective: While there is certainly strong agreement from this quarter with the sentiment expressed on the sign at the center of this controversy, governmental codes should be observed, else chaos can result. This is so as long as the codes provide for reasonable ways to express our strong convictions. For example, there is a Chicago Cubs fan. She insists on having, during baseball season, large bed-sheet size banners across her yard and porch to express her support for the Cubs. The city code prohibits such displays in private neighborhoods, because some consider them eyesores, and such displays might, in the estimation of city government, bring down property values. In most every city, there are proper venues in which to express political and religious views. Permits are sometimes required, but provisions are usually made for those who wish to protest, vent their enthusiasm, etc. Jesus said to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto God that which is God's. In America, for the most part, there remains opportunity to do both within society's and God's purviews. Bible prophecy foretells, however, a time when Antichrist will overcome the saints (Rev. 13:7). Such freedoms as we currently enjoy will be cut off. We can see that future persecution now well underway, with evil people and their devilish minority influences that have removed Bible reading and prayer from schools and public places. We must be on guard against the satanic erosion, of course. We must also be discerning enough to know what is true expression of our convictions, and what is breaking civil law without such infraction being necessary. Marilyn
  16. Israel: Diplomacy working against Iran Contradicting a New York Times assessment that diplomatic efforts to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions have accomplished nothing, senior Israeli security officials said yesterday they believed international diplomacy has achieved some success and should be continued. The Israeli assessment, which was presented to Sharon's security cabinet July 21, claims diplomatic pressure has delayed Iran's progress toward nuclear weapons by about two years or until 2007. Previously, Israel said Iran would possess the ability to produce enriched uranium for nuclear weapons on its own in late 2005. Israeli sources say the United States, Britain, France and Germany should be credited for their hard-line messages to the mullahs, but they also explain diplomatic pressure has recently been eased, partly because of the upcoming American elections and Iran's "attempts to buy time." Prophetic Perspective: Iran, at the heart of the region in which ancient Persia sat, seems to be the spot in the Middle East that at this time presents the world with nuclear high anxiety. Iran is President George W. Bush's second leg of the "Axis of Evil," which he pronounced as such when the war on terror was declared. That demonic region (according to the prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation) seems to be preparing to live up to its apocalyptic reputation. Ezekiel prophesied that future military forces of that region will storm against Israel in the Gog-Magog attack (Ezek. 38:5). Old Testament prophecies indicate pillars of fire mixed with blood will be seen during that time, their descriptions seeming to indicate explosions much like the nuclear blasts we have seen in our day. God himself will put an end to the aspiration Israel's enemies have of destroying that nation. Only one-sixth of the forces that attack Israel will be left when the Gog-Magog attack is turned back. Material for nuclear weaponry is apparently being produced in the ancient area called Persia. The fact that a hate-filled, possibly nuclear regime now resides where prophecy says a great war against God's chosen nation will begin hints of that future attack, and of the war called Armageddon. Marilyn
  17. Temple Mount 'extremists' chat with Israel's Security Chief Internal Security Minister Tzahi Hanegbi, who has been repeatedly warning that "dangerous Jewish extremists" are planning to blow up the Temple Mount and assassinate Ariel Sharon to disrupt his Gaza pullout plan, had a leisurely chat last week outside his home, with no protection, with some of the leaders he has claimed are "fermenting violence," WorldNetDaily has learned. "It would be like the director of the FBI accusing a group of trying to blow up the White House and then just strolling out of his house to chat with them," said a Kahane leader, who provided WorldNetDaily with a photo of Hanegbi sitting next to right-wing leaders Baruch Ben-Yosef and Itamar Ben Gvir, both of whom Hanegbi has been reportedly investigating for "possibly plotting attacks." Prophetic Perspective: With the "Armageddon wall," as it has been called, bulging because of Palestinian Authority digs beneath that part of the Temple Mount, fears are growing that if a collapse comes, the Dome of the Rock will crumble. The Israeli Jews will, almost without doubt, be blamed as having engineered the collapse if that happens. There will be a Jewish temple on Mount Moriah (the Temple Mount) during the time of Daniel's 70th week (tribulation). We know this from 2 Thessalonians 2: 2. "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God" (2 Thes. 2:3-4). It is feared that World War III could break out from that most volatile spot on earth. These strange meetings between those thought to be Jewish fomenters of trouble and their government watchdog is but one more piece of the end-time jigsaw puzzle. One thing is sure: The attention of the world continues to be locked on the Temple Mount, and that in itself is prophetically significant! Marilyn
  18. Alecia I know you are beautiful inside and out, I don't have to physically see you to know that. You are a creation of God and like I said He does not make junk! God gives us all coping skills to deal with different situations in our lives some of us can take it in stride others require more time and perhaps counseling. Unfortunately we are a society that 99% of the time judge people on appearance first, and then personality second. We all grow up with different ideals of what the perfect person is suppose to look like and thats all they are 'ideals'. One nice thing about the internet is the people you are talking to are faceless so you can let your guard down and become the real you, let your personality shine. There are so many people here that I have gotten to know without seeing what they look like, but thats ok because I feel like I'm getting to know the person from the inside out first, what makes them tick so to speak. I wish everyone could do that because by the time you see someone for the first time you have had a chance to get to know them personally and you just know that that the outward appearance doesn't matter in the slightest. And Alecia I know by listening to you talk and express your feelings in the written word that you are a sensitive, beautiful person inside and out and you have so much to offer. And I for one am very glad you are here and I look forward to getting to know you better. The Only Perfection Is Jesus Marilyn Here is a Pretty Yellow Rose just for you Alecia!
  19. Should faith in God be "blind" or should it require evidence? What do you think? I think in the beginning it should be blind but God is always giving us plenty of evidence to keep it from being blind. When you first become a Christian you really have to step out in faith to believe that God really is in control. But He constantly proves Himself over and over again. For instance in the Praises thread when that Bible against all odds got to my friend Mercy in Cameroon. God made it happen, in my mind there is no doubt! What do you think? Do you have any evidence or comments to share? Jesus Is The Answer!! Marilyn
  20. Do you think God has ever used pain and suffering to get your attention? If so, what was He trying to get across to you? I think God used my mothers death to get my dad's attention. He was not a believer before she died, but since her death he has been going through her books and different notes and has come to realize that God is very real. He is even started to read the Bible and pray on his own now. My dad is convinced that an angel touched his hand on the night of my mother's funeral, to comfort him in his grief. And who are we to say it didn't happen, he felt so comforted by the touch it still brings tears to his eyes when he talks about it. So yes I do believe God will use whatever it takes to get our attention. Jesus is the great healer Marilyn
  21. Do you think becoming a Christian is an ongoing process, something that happens at a specific point in time, or a combination of the two? What are your reasons for your answer? I believe you have your initial conversion then its an ongoing process. Of reading and learning about Gods Word. Seeking out fellow believers, sitting under anointed teaching. Always seeking to know more about our Saviour. What do you think? Marilyn
  22. Great topic Snowdoove I was a little curious about that as well. I'm a church secretary in a Presbyterian Church, never the same twice! Its a very positive, uplifting place to work but not really all that challenging. I would really like to work around animals maybe as a photographer or in a rescue situation, but I'd probably spend most of my time crying at the abuse some of them have suffered. Working for a travel magazine would be fun too, or a cruise director! Marilyn
  23. Willow what an awesome topic for these days. Depression in this country is rampant, low self esteem effects almost everyone at some point in their lives. I think we should just face facts people are cruel whether intentional or not, some of us just don't think before we speak! I have had the same experiences growing up as you and you do have to develop a very thick skin. Sometimes I can deal with it other times I'm in tears. I have to keep reminding myself that God doesn't make junk! He loves me the way I am unconditionally and if I'm not the same as someone else then too bad! There is always someone out there that is worse off then I am. Labeling people on appearance only is so unfair but we all do it. We all have things about ourselves that we would like to change, get rid of or improve. But unless you change your outlook on the inside first nothing you do to the outward appearance will make any difference. Some of the 'quote' beautiful people of this world are still not happy with changes they have made to their outward appearance because they are not content with who they are inside. Some of them have even committed suicide over their unhappiness. All the money in the world will not bring you happiness if you don't like yourself to start with. Life is way too short to get bogged down in superficial aspects like body image and I know that is easy to say but I struggle with the same issues as alot of you do, but sometimes you just have to make up your mind to let some of the hateful things people say go. Our time on this earth is so short compared to eternity with God and then we get new glorified bodies----WHOOHOO (I want mine now God!) There are alot of different ways to respond to ignorant people, you could ignore them, you could stoop to their level and give it back to them or you could tell them you are going to pray for them. That will usually shut them up. When I look at them I see that they have alot of the same self esteem problems I have and they are acting out of anger at the world, themselves, their situation at the time, there are many different reasons why some feel the need to put others down. They are probably hurting inside about something. They are trying to cover up their own inadequacies. I have decided not to deny myself my favourite foods because of someones opinion of what my ideal weight should be. That is none of their business, why do others think its their job to decide what you should or shouldn't eat, what you should wear, how you should cut your hair. Hello!!!! If I ask for advice ok, but if I don't then keep it to yourself please. Thank you Jesus for making me who I am with all my faults, but also with the ability to love you to the fullest capacity. Thank You Lord for Creating Us To Love You Marilyn
  24. Personally I feel the same about Elvis never was a fan, never saw the attraction, never liked any of his music. Getting all crazy about a spoiled, pampered over- blown drug addict has never turned me on. There are many more edifying artists to listen to who did not have to turn to drugs to get through a day. But of course this is just my opinion!! :)Sorry had to voice my view since someone just had to give an unprovoked shot to something that happens to mean alot to me! No offense intended. Have a nice day!! Everybody has different tastes and Thank You Lord for That! Marilyn
