What negative behavioural pattern has been passed down from generation to generation with your family? For me its all the negative feelings and thoughts from my dads side of the family. My dad is one of the most negative people I know. There is no glass half full with him its always pretty much empty. It was not the most fun atmosphere to grow up in, he criticized absolutely everything my sister and I did. We were never good enough, nothing we did was ever good enough still isn't! If I got a B, it was why didn't you get an A, if you got an A why didn't you get an A+. I've spent my whole life trying to please him and now others and no matter what I do its still not good enough. If I make a mistake I internally beat myself up for days! This is a very hard behaviour to break or overcome, its ingrained in me. I had to force myself to hug my kids and tell them I love you. I was never told that as a child or hugged my parents just didn't do that. All my dads family is the same way and so is my moms. Self Esteem and self worth are two of the greatest qualities you can give your children tell them everyday you love them, hug them every chance you get and even if they brush you off they will remember that when they grow up and pass it on to their children. I stiffen up when someone goes to hug me now and I wish I could change that but its an unconscious reaction now. The only time my dad ever hugged me was on my wedding day and then it was very stiff and I felt uncomfortable. Then when the marriage broke up I got blamed. The damage that parents do to their children growing up is irreversible and takes years of therapy to overcome that is if they even seek help for it. My self worth is still very low and whenever I get a compliment I feel I don't deserve it but because of some Christian Brothers and sisters I am learning to at least say thank you now, even though inside I still don't believe it. I wish things had been different growing up but we have to deal with what we are dealt with and move on. The thing is to recognize within yourself the destructive behaviour and try and change it, to re-invent yourself and not pass it on. Ask God for help, to send His people your way to help you see yourself as God sees you He is your real daddy! He will never hurt you or reject you I can't wait for my first hug from Him! Our God Is An Awesome God Marilyn

Thank You Called for the compliment! I do spend alot of time researching topics and I have a very inquisitive mind I'm always thinking and trying to find answers to questions I'm sorry about your dad Called but at least you still have him to hug that is something to be thankful for. God still has plans for him and I'm sure every time you are with him you feel blessed that he is there on some level. I know its hard to cope sometimes but I know God gives us His strength and sends people into our lives to help us get through these situations. God Bless Marilyn

Wow this is a question and a half! Someone asked me this once and I wasn't sure what to say so I'll just throw it out to you. Would you want to know the date and cause of your death? How would that information change things for you? I don't think it would be a good idea for us to know that information because your every waking moment would be consumed with that upcoming event. And God in His infinite wisdom in creating us chose to withhold that information from us. But I think about my mom who died of lung cancer 3 years ago, she knew she was dying and that it wouldn't be too much longer. It is very scary to kind of wrap your mind around that concept but she never talked about it. I wish she had because I think maybe talking about it wouldn't be that scary I don't know though. Its very upsetting to think about what she was going threw and that is an area that I know I have not totally dealt with yet. what are your feelings about knowing this information ahead of time? Jesus Is The Answer Marilyn

What traumatic event has changed your life forever? I think for it was when my marriage broke up especially when I was 3600 miles away from my family! And I had two kids at the time 3 and 4. And it was only after 5 years of marriage to a preacher's kid who told he was a Christian. But once we moved to Vancouver turned into a totally different person. That broke my heart and took years of therapy to come to a place where I could deal with it. When I married this man I assumed it was for life so when it fell apart so did I. Now I had two children to raise by myself and no idea where to start or how to go about it. So that began a long struggle that was very traumatic not only to me, but for the kids, my family and his family. What event changed your life forever? In an emergency, which friends would you feel the freedom to call in the middle of the night? I have about 7 people who I know for a fact would get out of bed or drop what they were doing to rush to my aid if I needed them. In fact a couple of times when I was really depressesd and not wanting to go on I was told by several of these people that I HAD to call them no matter what the time of day or night. They told me when someone in the family of God was hurting then they were hurting. Have you had any experiences that you would like to share? I have never had to go to someone yet in an emergency but I would want to be the kind of person that would be available 24/7 for a friend or family! In His Love Marilyn

Gay Activists Try To Band Christians From Protest
Marilyn777 replied to Marilyn777's topic in World News
Well being a Canadian there are alot of us that do not support our governments decision on this piece of legislation but if we as a body of believers can't get it together to protest this garbage as a united front then there is not much hope of changing it. There is power in numbers. Funny thing though the first gay couple that ran to the courthouse to get married is get this now filing for a divorce after only about 5 months. And because of the change of the law they are intitled to the same divison of property as everyone else! And they say love won't last! There is so much promiscuity in the gay life-style I don't know why they even bother! -
Looks painful. Never mind Shiloh its not worth the aggravation! I know what your trying to say and I agree with you a 1000%. Some people just don't get it or choose not to so let it go. It will be returned to the Lord in His time and thats all that matters! Love Ya Marilyn

'Gays' Try To Ban Protests at Events Philadelphia homosexual activists say they will seek a court to prevent protesters from attending their "pride" events in the future. But organizers from Repent America, a Philadelphia-based Christian organization, say they will attend the events, even if it means defying a court order and getting arrested. "We do what God is calling us to do," Michael Marcavage told the Philadelphia Gay News last week. "If it means breaking the law, we do that." Philly Pride Presents stages the annual OutFest street festival in October, and the annual LGBT Pride Parade and Festival in June. Dan Anders, an attorney for the group, says he plans to seek a court order banning Marcavage and other protesters from participating in those events. Prophetic Perspective: It is appropriate to protest such ungodly activity, which, without repentance, will bring America

Linda Ronstadt: "I don't Like Singing for Christians" Singer Linda Ronstadt appears to have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward Republicans and Christians who might be in her audiences - she'd rather not know they are there. In a recent interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, the entertainer said: "This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down. It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know." Ms. Ronstadt says,

Locusts Have a Field Day in Starving Africa In an invasion of north and west Africa that may take on biblical proportions, locusts are swarming across the Sahara desert to threaten the yields from crops already wizened by years of drought in many of the world's poorest countries. The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization announced July 5 that the first swarms of desert locusts were abandoning their spring breeding areas and heading into Mauritania, Senegal and Mali, with more expected in coming weeks. Without immediate attention to the plague of locusts, FAO warned, entire fields of maize, cassava and other staple crops for the region will be razed to the ground by the pests' insatiable appetites. The swarms, which can devour in a twinkling enough food to feed 2,500 people, could make their way across west Africa into Niger, Chad and western Sudan, which is already facing a dire food shortage due to continued unrest in the Darfur region. Prophetic Perspective: The areas presently afflicted by everything from uncontrollable sexually transmitted diseases to locust plagues of biblical dimension seem to already fit the apocalyptic descriptions foretold by the prophet John when he reported seeing the black horse of famine ride forth.

UN to Israel: Tear Down 'The Wall' The UN General Assembly last night overwhelmingly adopted a resolution demanding that Israel comply with a world court decision and tear down the security fence Israel is building in the West Bank. The vote was 150 in favor, 6 opposed - including the United States - and 10 abstentions. The assembly's vote, like the opinion of the International Court of Justice, is not legally binding, and Israel has pledged to continue building the fence, which it says saves lives. "Thank God that the fate of Israel and of the Jewish people is not decided in this hall," Israel's UN Ambassador Dan Gillerman said, calling the resolution "one-sided and totally counterproductive. ... It cannot but embolden the true enemies of the Israeli and Palestinian people." "It is simply outrageous to respond with such vigor to a measure that saves lives and responds with such casual indifference and apathy to the ongoing campaign of Palestinian terrorism that takes lives. This is not justice but a perversion of justice," he said. Prophetic Perspective: "Thank God that the fate of Israel and of the Jewish people is not decided in this hall." Israel's UN Ambassador Dan Gillerman spoke a mouth full upon assessing the overwhelming vote against his nation. The vote is but a foreshadowing of the problems Israel will face during the time of Jacob

I was just wondering what kind of themes or screensavers you all had on your computer desktops. Currently I have a beautiful Dolphin theme with two dolphins smiling like they do swimming through a turquoise sea. For Screensaver I have a multitude of pictures cycling in Webshots. I collect pictures from all over the internet and add them to my Webshots Photo Manager. I try and change my theme every couple of days for variety I have a number of them I rotate including some very cool Bible themes again I go on a web search every now and then to update the theme file. So what do you have on your computer, just curious about what kinds of things interest my fellow brothers and sisters on Worthy and if you want we can exchange sites for pictures and themes. Just a thought! A Picture Paints a Thousand Words Marilyn

Three things are holy: God His word His people These are the only things that last forever. One of these days, our sun will go supernova and the earth will be destroyed. Now what were you saying about "holy" places? (BTW, I meant to say "persecution is nothing new", not "persecution is nothing") Again you missed the point or choose not to see it. But hey thats ok thats what makes Steve--Steve! I choose NOT to take the site of the Dome lightly and if it's important to God then its important to me. Which He happens to talk about in one of the Holy things on Earth His Word--Bible you know the thing on the shelf that alot of people trust and dust! And the persecution of Christians has nothing to do with the fact that the site the Dome is sitting on belongs to God that is a totally different topic in my opinion (of course) I STAND BY MY COMMENT ON IT BEING A HOLY PLACE!! :t: It also happens to be one of the signs of the end times when it is rebuilt so I would think as a Christian we should be keeping our eyes and ears open to what is happening on that site. And I have no idea what your point is on the sun turning supernova and the earth being destroyed because the temple being rebuilt is alot closer to happening then the earth exploding don't ya think! "If God calls you, do you believe that He will protect you?" The dictionary says, "To shield from danger, injury, etc" is to protect. Is God not doing His job? Or is protection spiritual, not physical? The Lord does not always protect from either physical or spiritual threats. Nothing is more sobering than the truth that men like Hymenaeus and Philetus are allowed to destroy the faith of some (2 Timothy 2:18) . As for physical protection, in 2 Corinthians 11 Paul lists some of the affictions he had endured for the gospel's sake. See also 2 Corinthians 12:10; 1 Peter 3:14, . There is no guarantee of safety in the ministry. There is instead the risk of martyrdom. But maybe you're thinking of Paul's ringing testimony from his last lodging place on earth: the prison, from where he was led out to excution. "The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom" (2 Timothy 6:18). Paul would have answered the question with a Yes, but that they were thinking of the same thing is questionable.

I found this article in my local newspaper today and thought I would share it with you all. What do you think? In the world of Christian video games, players sport the armour of God, the best weapon is a ball of holy energy known as a "smite" and demon-possessed Roman soldiers drop to their knees in prayer when they're hit. Right now, the religious-themed games represent just the tiniest fraction of an $11-billion US industry, but developers expect the market to grow with the popularity of faith-based movies and books such as Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ and the Left Behind series of novels. Just how to make the jump to the mainstream, finding producers for Christian games and getting them on store shelves, will be the focus of a conference this summer in Portland that about 100 people are expected to attend. Event organizer Tim Emmerich said Christian game developers----mostly evangelical Protestants---want to provide a clean, safe alternative to shoot-em-up games like Grand Theft Auto, spreading the gospel without boring or alienating players. The target audience ranges from Christian gamers eager for new thrills to teenagers and 20-somethings who have never picked up a Bible, said Emmerich, a software engineer who attends Circle Church in Corvalis. To Canadian developer Mackenzie Ponech, the idea is creating a fun, entertaining game that doesn't condescend to its non-Christian players. "It's not about taking a Bible, rolling it up and shoving it down the person's throat who's playing the game," said Ponech, who co-founded Two Guys Software in Edmonton Alberta. In the company's most popular game, Eternal War: Shadows of Light, players assume the role of Mike, an angel charged with saving a suicidal teen. They battle demons---and the teen's own doubts---with spiritual weapons that include "soul disks," Trinity blasts," and the "smite", a ball of liquid holy energy that vaporizes bad guys. Eternal War also references the "armour of God" mentioned in St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians. "It's almost like your meat-and-potatoes for a Christian game," Ponech said. Unlike some of their secular counterparts, Christian video games avoid "all that blood and guts and gore," said Ralph Bagley, CEO of N'Lightning Games in Medford Oregon. Enemies vanish, vaporize, or, in the case of the Roman soldiers in N'Lightning's Catechumen, start praying as Handel's Hallelujah Chorus rings out. Most games incorporate Bible verses, and story lines often focus on spiritual struggles. Religion expert Larry Eskridge says the emerging Christian video game industry marks the latest effort by religious believers to put their own imprint on poplular culture. Evangelical Protestants have led the charge since the Second World War, seeking sanctified versions of everything from board games and televison to rock 'n' roll, said Eskridge, associate director of the Institute for the Study of American Evangelicals at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. But some in the industry question whether consumers will be as eager to embrace Christian games as they are to play secular versions. Most retailers are reluctant to pick up Christian video games because the products don't have a proven track record, said Dave Tanner, senior buyer for Christian Supply Centers. The retail chain has 16 stores in Oregon, Washington state and Idaho. "As a buyer, I want to see past sales. I want to see a forecast," Tanner said. That's difficult with the relatively new Christian video games, which make up such a small portion of the market that CBA International, formerly the Christian Booksellers Association, doesn't track sales. After Sept. 11th, one company invited the remaining members of other companies who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their available office space. At a morning meeting, the head of security told stories of why these people were alive... and all the stories were just: The 'L I T T L E' things . As you might know, the head of one company was late. Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident. One of them missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change. One's car wouldn't start. One went back to answer the telephone. One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have. One couldn't a get a taxi. The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today. Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment. Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose. Thank You Jesus for The Little Things Marilyn
