    Inheritance

When a man has sons and daughters- and wants to take a BIBLICAL POSITION on dividing his inheritance [land] among them, what is the proper Biblical teaching on this? And please show Biblical refrences. Hi Brethren, It's been a while.... it sure is nice to drop by briefly- even if just to pose a question. Hope to be back with all of you soon. Thanks in advance, Sirsilius
  2. Interesting question- can't wait for the replies.
  3. Hi roc, I've always been curious as to how the gift of interpreting of tongues worked. Can you understand what any one is saying in their own native tongue? Or could you communicate effectively with someone else in their own native tongue? I'm just curious if that's how it works. And if it isn't that way- then how does it work? Just curious.
  4. I doubt we'll ever know who this man really was. But- either he was a faithful follower of Christ, casting out demons in His name; or was casting out demons in His name- but wasn't a true follower, whom Christ will deny at the end as never knowing him. I think that's about the only conclusion we can draw on this man.
  5. It's strange how those with Christ hadn't at that point, casted out demons and this man [whoever he was] was already doing it. I looked at other Bible translations and it appears the reason the disciples "forbad him" was because he wasn't in Christ's group. But then Christ opposed them, saying- "forbid him not" indicating that he who isn't against us- is with us. And I wonder- though he wasn't hanging around with the disciples, it "could be" that he was a follower of Christ none the less. Remember in the O.T. when one of the prophets thought he was the only follower of God left and God told him that there were at least 7000 [i'm guessing] more? Well, maybe that man was a follower of Christ- but other than what the disciples reported, the scriptures are silent in regards to who he was? Another thing that is interesting, is that some will cast out demons in His name, Yet Christ will deny them; proving that even people who are able to do this- as so many in the ministry claim- don't necessarily have their hearts right with God. So back to this man- he was either casting out demons with a proper heart, or he wasn't. But I know- that still doesn't tell us very much does it?
  6. Good advice from all of the above.
  7. Am I understanding the Bible correctly when it "appears" to be saying that Prophecy is more certain or sure than an actual eyewitness account? 2Pe 1:16 For we did not follow craftily devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but rather became eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2Pe 1:17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when a voice was brought to Him such as this by the Magnificent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 2Pe 1:18 And we heard this voice being uttered from heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 2Pe 1:19 And we have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed, as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.... Am I reading it correctly in its context- the prophetic word is made more sure than an actual eyewitness account? If I am- then it truly shows how each of those prophecies of the Bible, are certain to come to pass. Prophecy is just as good as an actual eyewitness account- it doesn't get any surer than that!
  8. John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself would have room for the books which would be written. Amen. I often wonder just what other wonderful things our Lord and Saviour performed while He was here. The above verse leads us to believe that there were so, so many other wonders he may have done that actually were never recorded in scripture. Aside from what we already know from scripture- what other wonders and miracles might had He performed?
  9. It sounds to me that it refers to somebody that regularly is fliping through the pages of the Bible. If that's the case- then it's not bad at all. But is it the case- that's the question.....
  10. I hear you Sister! No- I hope none of us men would ever want that. I for one, prefer to dwell in the wilderness. For the time being anyway......
  11. No, but your waistline will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's already been to hell and back <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ya'll are too funny.
  12. I don't think any were. Besides, is there an instant in the New Testament- where we find a reference indicating someone with multiple wives? I for one, don't think so- So perhaps gradually on their own- they realized what was best as far as a family unit went. God Bless
  13. Well- here in the Pleasanton and San Antonio, Texas areas- I saw earlier today prices for regular unleaded at: $2.49 - $2.65 a gallon. Sheesh.....
