    Inheritance

When a man has sons and daughters- and wants to take a BIBLICAL POSITION on dividing his inheritance [land] among them, what is the proper Biblical teaching on this? And please show Biblical refrences. Hi Brethren, It's been a while.... it sure is nice to drop by briefly- even if just to pose a question. Hope to be back with all of you soon. Thanks in advance, Sirsilius
  2. Interesting question- can't wait for the replies.
  3. Hi roc, I've always been curious as to how the gift of interpreting of tongues worked. Can you understand what any one is saying in their own native tongue? Or could you communicate effectively with someone else in their own native tongue? I'm just curious if that's how it works. And if it isn't that way- then how does it work? Just curious.
  4. I doubt we'll ever know who this man really was. But- either he was a faithful follower of Christ, casting out demons in His name; or was casting out demons in His name- but wasn't a true follower, whom Christ will deny at the end as never knowing him. I think that's about the only conclusion we can draw on this man.
  5. It's strange how those with Christ hadn't at that point, casted out demons and this man [whoever he was] was already doing it. I looked at other Bible translations and it appears the reason the disciples "forbad him" was because he wasn't in Christ's group. But then Christ opposed them, saying- "forbid him not" indicating that he who isn't against us- is with us. And I wonder- though he wasn't hanging around with the disciples, it "could be" that he was a follower of Christ none the less. Remember in the O.T. when one of the prophets thought he was the only follower of God left and God told him that there were at least 7000 [i'm guessing] more? Well, maybe that man was a follower of Christ- but other than what the disciples reported, the scriptures are silent in regards to who he was? Another thing that is interesting, is that some will cast out demons in His name, Yet Christ will deny them; proving that even people who are able to do this- as so many in the ministry claim- don't necessarily have their hearts right with God. So back to this man- he was either casting out demons with a proper heart, or he wasn't. But I know- that still doesn't tell us very much does it?
  6. Am I understanding the Bible correctly when it "appears" to be saying that Prophecy is more certain or sure than an actual eyewitness account? 2Pe 1:16 For we did not follow craftily devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but rather became eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2Pe 1:17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when a voice was brought to Him such as this by the Magnificent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 2Pe 1:18 And we heard this voice being uttered from heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 2Pe 1:19 And we have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed, as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.... Am I reading it correctly in its context- the prophetic word is made more sure than an actual eyewitness account? If I am- then it truly shows how each of those prophecies of the Bible, are certain to come to pass. Prophecy is just as good as an actual eyewitness account- it doesn't get any surer than that!
  7. John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself would have room for the books which would be written. Amen. I often wonder just what other wonderful things our Lord and Saviour performed while He was here. The above verse leads us to believe that there were so, so many other wonders he may have done that actually were never recorded in scripture. Aside from what we already know from scripture- what other wonders and miracles might had He performed?
  8. It sounds to me that it refers to somebody that regularly is fliping through the pages of the Bible. If that's the case- then it's not bad at all. But is it the case- that's the question.....
  9. I hear you Sister! No- I hope none of us men would ever want that. I for one, prefer to dwell in the wilderness. For the time being anyway......
  10. No, but your waistline will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's already been to hell and back <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ya'll are too funny.
  11. I don't think any were. Besides, is there an instant in the New Testament- where we find a reference indicating someone with multiple wives? I for one, don't think so- So perhaps gradually on their own- they realized what was best as far as a family unit went. God Bless
  12. Well- here in the Pleasanton and San Antonio, Texas areas- I saw earlier today prices for regular unleaded at: $2.49 - $2.65 a gallon. Sheesh.....
  13. It doesn't. Unless the word "shameful" is interpreted as meaning sin- where Paul uses it to define the thought of men having long hair???
  14. Love!Love!Love!Love!Love! John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
  15. You're so right! LOL I think we men have all the worrying to do! But I'm sure there aren't too many of us around who'd want- or could handle more than one wife: Pro 21:19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness than with a quarrelsome and angry woman. No! God doesn't have to tell us it's a sin- I think we men already have a pretty good idea that multiple wives would probably be more than that- but instead of the wilderness, it would probably be to the nut house.
  16. I like that phrase, halifaxchristian And it probably covers a multitude of sins, but aside from prohibiting Kings and Bishops, it appears that no where in the Bible does it classify "THIS" as sin- right??? Look guys- I'm not for multiple wives, believe me! But I do find all of this pretty incredible. ESPECIALLY when we can't "really" BIBLICALLY prove someone who thinks that way- otherwise! Like most of us- They'll demand it has to come from the Bible, OTHERWISE........
  17. Great Post, nebula. And of course- I agree with all of your reasoning. And though polygamy no longer serves the purpose it once did- What if a man came saying he was not a King or a Bishop and found no grounds in the Bible to keep him from having multiple wives? Although the Law of the Land would have to be followed- he would claim that it's THIS law [the land's] and NOT God's- condemning him. And as we have seen, it appears HE MAY have a point there? And that's the point I'm trying to make- Does he have a legit claim???
  18. Thanks, sheya joie And you're right, It is only speaking about King(s).
  19. Very interesting....... And real good info. If you [any of you] find any more interesting info, please pass it on to the rest of us. Thanks.
  20. Great Information from all of you! Very, Very informative- Thanks.
  21. I believe God let him win, it wasn't so much the he won in strangth but God was testing him-(He won the challenge). What was Jacob wrestling for? he was wresting for God's Blessing, so i believe God want to see how baddly Jacob really wanted it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's an excellent point, Trinity! Thanks
