  1. I know what you mean. I had been posting it for any that might come along this topic....but got negligent lately! Blame it on my introduction to my cellphone! (I'm finally getting at ease with it since late last night! lol) Btw, I have Vivaldi browser....no tracking plus you can make a "speed dial" on your favorite websites to bring up a website in a second.
  2. Michael is back after such a long time....he is nine now. @ladypeartree @JohnD @Neighbor
  3. This married couple are in Morocco and sure are dedicated, even feeding the mama cats and new borns in the rain... @ladypeartree @JohnD
  4. Well, I felt it. Was sleeping after feeding my mom but the bed jiggling woke me up. Thought it was a quake, was right. Sure hope and pray it isn't a foreshock. I'm inland from Malibu about 15 miles... @ladypeartree @Neighbor
  5. I think you're right. Here's a nice pic of both of them.
  6. She's still fast asleep as I should be now!
  7. Always enjoy these videos... Aaron's Animals.
  8. Just checked on Jackie or Shadow....fast asleep. https://www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org/
  9. @ladypeartree Our L.A. river is a huge concrete flood channel. Many years ago it was an actual natural river but it caused a lot of floods. So they encased it in concrete. Normally it is dry. Nowadays there are a few areas being restored to a natural wetland. People even canoe there to see ducks and a few other wildlife. This has photos... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/06/los-angeles-river-pictures-rain-storms-flooding @Neighbor One concern currently is that the water just flows out to the ocean when we really need that water for watering trees, etc.
  10. Usually Southern California is in drought conditions. Here's what's happening now due to the atmospheric river... Oh, btw, I ordered groceries yesterday because there was no rain and seemed clear. By the time the poor shopper was doing my shopping, the skies opened and pounded us. He was a nice, pleasant young man even though he was out in a terrible downpour.
  11. Earlier this evening the storm clouds opened and the rain pounded down. This after a clear morning and afternoon. Even brief sun in the afternoon. And in Ventura, North of Los Angeles, they had flash flood warnings tonight. It's funny...the new cell phone... it's not set up yet. But I had accidentally turned it on. And it made this sound and startled me....went over and it was giving a weather alert! I turned off the alerts as I guess they use data??
  12. Apparently they don't chase cats out of buildings in Istanbul, Turkey. @ladypeartree @JohnD
  13. I think the eggs hatch in about 35 days. Although she has hatched eggs even at 38 days. @ladypeartree and I watched Spirit from hatched, growing and finally flying away.
  14. Oh, wow! That is something else! Poor Jackie underneath all of that snow! Will check to see her now bobbing up through it... I still don't see her....she must have gone under again!
  15. Yes, it does look the same! Oh, just looked....no Eagle, just snow! Hope Mama or papa gets back soon.
  16. When I looked earlier Jackie or Shadow was drenched! Then the snow flurries started.
  17. It's been raining all day....lots of mud slides. A couple of homes got totally pushed off of their foundations by the mud. Even a refrigerator was pushed out of a home. Some cars were buried in mud. So when it rains here, the mountains get snow. Rain will continue the next few days, not as heavy as today.
  18. Their body core temperature is 105F.... that's really hot!!!
  19. Just looked at the live cam on YouTube. In the comments they said Bald Eagles have a core body temperature of 105F!!! Also, they have 7,000 feathers. So maybe they are nice and toasty.
  20. So glad you enjoy the videos. It's nice to see rescue work in other countries.
  21. The poor baby (Eagle)...it looks pretty miserable right now. Looks like a slushy rain is falling on it. He or she has their head up somewhat. It's been raining hard tonight here...we are about two hours away from the mountains. https://www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org/
  22. Kind people all over the world. Rescuers are in Morocco. They met this mama cat and kittens the other day. Upon going back, the owner of the house wouldn't let them set up a little house for the cats. So the rescuers took them to a small shelter they run. Heartwarming video. @ladypeartree @JohnD
  23. I have the Google weather as this is an Android tablet. Funny thing though...when I touch it to view the full weather, it says my location is Sanford. ?? And I can't seem to change that.
  24. Good description! Enjoyed it. The rain is now starting, can hear it which I love. Probably raining in the mountains or maybe flurries.
