Does anyone else feel the need for GREAT prayer against this? Online magazine grooms women for jihad A new online magazine published by the 'Women's Information Office on the Arabian Peninsula' aims to teach women how to contribute to jihad, or holy war. "Our main mission: push our children to the battlefield, like Al-Khansaa," declares Umm Raad al-Tamimi in the magazine. The monthly publication champions the ideology of Al Qaeda terrorist chief Osama bin Laden: "Drive infidels from the Arabian Peninsula," or Saudi Arabia. Named after a female Arab poet whose life straddled pre- and early-Islamic eras, the magazine appears to be the first of its kind targeting women. "Close ranks on the side of our men," orders the publication, which also dedicates space to alleged Al Qaeda "martyrs" in Saudi Arabia. Al-Khansaa was famous for her eulogies, particularly that written for her brother Sakhr, who died in a tribal feud. She later sent her four sons to fight jihad, all of whom were killed. "We will stand up, veiled and in abaya [black cloak], arms in hand, our children on our laps and the book of Allah and Sunna as our guide," the editorial in the first edition said. "The blood of our husbands and the bodies of our children are an offering to God." The publication carries a section entitled "Women's Camp (Muaskar)," which is reminiscent of Al-Qaeda's military online magazine "Muaskar Al-Battar". It talks of the "physical preparation for jihad", with the first lesson focussing on building up one's arms, without illustration. Another is devoted to basic knowledge of how to rescue wounded fighters. Women are recommended to have at their disposal a first-aid kit, containing among others "natural honey and Zamzam water" from the Zamzam spring in Mecca, which Muslims believe originated from heaven. Another article covers "Our children... how to raise them?" "Jihad must be instilled in them at an early age... from birth... their education begins at the foetal stage," it said. "That's why a man should carefully choose the future mother of his children, that is to say (one who is) pious... and vice versa." The magazine has triggered mixed reactions on Islamist Internet sites. One contributor to a web site blasts it for "poisoning" women's ideas while another accuses it of "seeking to instil an extremist and terrorist ideology in children, overstepping boundaries." A third, however, commends the magazine which it argues "restores women's dignity, trampled by fashion and pornographic magazines." -- AFP

Marilyn, Thank you for your posts regarding this topic. I am sick in my stomach right now after reading what I've just read. It doesn't seem that long ago, that the Pulpit was the place for moral values to be expoused. Now a breed of amoral tv evangelists, talk show hosts, and reality tv stars, who cloak themselves in a veil of abstract genteel moralism, have set our hearts and our minds on edge. Just as we are outraged at the often offensive content of the internet, so we should also be justly abhorrent to the content of todays television shows. IT is true that we should pray for Oprah as she seeks to decieve, mislead and pontificate using her television show as her pulpit. Faith

I'm wondering if anyone here believes: 1) That when people do wrong things, that they are under the influence of evil. 2) That you should forgive the person who has wronged you, b/c they really didn't know what they were doing due to the above mentioned reason. Ireland is Plato's Atlantis, claims geographer The mythical lost island of Atlantis was actually Ireland, according to a new theory by a Swedish scientist. The Greek philosopher, Plato, wrote in 360 BC that Atlantis was an island in the Atlantic Ocean, where an advanced civilisation developed some 11,500 years ago until it was hit by a cataclysmic natural disaster and sank beneath the waves. Geographer Ulf Erlingsson, whose book explaining his theory will be published next month, says the measurements, geography, and landscape of Atlantis as described by Plato match Ireland almost exactly. "I am amazed no one has come up with this before, it's incredible," he told Reuters. "Just like Atlantis, Ireland is 300 miles long, 200 miles wide, and widest across the middle. They both have a central plain surrounded by mountains. "I've looked at geographical data from the rest of the world and of the 50 largest islands there is only one that has a plain in the middle - Ireland." Dr Erlingsson believes the idea that Atlantis sank came from the fate of Dogger Bank, an isolated shoal in the North Sea, about 100 kilometres off the north-eastern coast of England, which sank after being hit by a huge flood wave around 6,100 BC. "I suspect that myth came from Ireland and it derives from Dogger Bank. I think the memory of Dogger Bank was probably preserved in Ireland for around 3,000 years and became mixed up with the story of Atlantis," he said. Dr Erlingsson links the boundaries of the Atlantic Empire, as outlined by Plato, with the geographic distribution of megalithic monuments in Europe and Northern Africa, matching Atlantis' temples with well-known burial sites at Newgrange and Knowth, north of Dublin, which pre-date the pyramids. His book, Atlantis from a Geographer's Perspective: Mapping the Fairy Land, calculates the probability Plato would have had access to geographical data about Ireland as 99.98 per cent. Hey Sweety. I think you are so wonderful to be sure that you don't want to do anything like that (french kissing), because once you start stuff like that it can lead to other stuff. I admire you for being so firm in your convictions :hug: Just remember that if he won't respect you now for what you believe, he won't respect you later, but having said that, pray for him hey. Your prayers for him are the most essential thing to you and him either being together or not. Ask for discernment from the Lord for your relationship with your boyfriend and if the Lord wants you to stop seeing this guy for a while, then have the courage to follow the Lord. If you don't have the courage, then pray for that too!! My favourite verse is Phil 4:13....I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. You can too!! God bless and keep in touch.
