Hi MK202002. Yes, that's what I'm suggesting, a 3 1/2 year tribulation period. The interpretation of the "one week" in Daniel 9: 27 is the only place I know of in Scripture, that created (misinterpreted?) the 7 year scenario. Here are more Scriptures to support a 3 1/2 year view: But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Revelation 11:2 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. Revelation 13:5 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth Revelation 11:3 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. Revelation 12:6 (3

Hi KatyAnn, Very interesting! You see, I was linking verse 27 to 24. 27and he shall confirm the covenent with many for ONE WEEK. That very much being potentially apart of the 70 WEEKS in verse 24Seventy WEEKS are determined...... Yes, Jesus said "it is finished" on the Cross........and I oh, so look foward to His return!
-
Hi KatyAnn, Thanks for the excellent Scripture references! I am prone to think that verse 25 in speaking of "Jacob's trouble", and the completion of that fulfillment will be immediately preceding Lord Jesus' return. And I agree with you, Jesus Messiah's fulfilled the "Sacrifice". Did Jesus stop the Temple Sacrifice because of that fulfillment? (during the Church Age) I don't think that is one in the same as the Abomination Desolation.
-
Hi KatyAnn, As I said, the return of Lord Jesus is yet to be fulfilled. Can we get back on topic?....Thanks!.....(Daniel 9: 24-27)....
-
Hi KatyAnn, I will refer back to Marnie's reply, of what Marnie described as the "law of dual fulfillment". Often times Bible prophecy applied to the day it was written, but also looked ahead to the future. These Scriptures that are quoted from Revelation may or may not have applied to Jerusalem's sacking in 70 AD. (I don't recall any 42 month scenarios in the Bible, in regard to this time period.) I believe the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ is very explicite in speaking of endtime events, and the return of our LORD and Savior. (there is in abundance of unfulfilled prophecy there, including the return of Jesus!)

Hi jckduboise, Here are some Scriptures that point out the 3 1/2 years (42 months). In my humble opinion we're fast approaching that time, but not there yet. ******************************************************************************** **** But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Hi Cymba22, Yes, that take is from the Book, "The Coming Prince" by Sir Robert Anderson (1841-1918) that established ALL future teaching. I'm just questioning if he was correct.......when the Scripture stands alone, there is no mention of King, "he" in verse 27 is to be interpreted, and "prince" in verse 26 is also to be interpreted. (not to be confused with "Messiah the Prince" in verse 25) I'm just wondering where it describes a false peace?? Help!
-
Can we take another look at Daniel 9: 24-27? More or less, the most popular teaching, from Sir Robert Anderson, explains that Satan is given the 70th Week. At the onset, antichrist signs an agreement with Israel, and midway, after 42 months, the Abomination Desolation occurs, then Israel heads for the hills, and all hell breaks loose as the Tribulation. What troubles me about this interpretation is that it just seems incomprehensible that God would give His Son, Jesus, 42 months on this earth for His Ministry, and then give Satan twice that long???? (and as stated clearly in Revelation, Satan is given 42 months, not 84 months) I am very concerned that if this popular teaching that has become so INGRAINED in our thinking, and if the Church is wrong in this teaching, what a mighty tool Satan has to deceive many. I am suggesting that Jesus has ownership of ALL of the 70th Week of Daniel. The first 42 months are Jesus

Hal Lindsey proclaims: Islam a violent religion
dotcom replied to boblandis's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Thanks for all your service folks!! Back to Hal Lindsey........I recently thumbed through "The Late Great Planet Earth"........and was AMAZED to think it was written 30 yrs ago, because it so timely for today!! (Written pre-techno boom....about 8 channels on TV....no cell phones, no PC's, no microwave ovens, no debit card machines, NWO was not a lexicon, and the suggestion of the Euro would have sounded impossible!......) What made this book ring so true, is that Lindsey has studied prophecy! This man is something like 75 yrs old, has spent his life serving the Lord.......and by grace, overcoming an extreme attack right now. We don't have to agree with every word coming from any Bible Prophecy teacher....but let's not major in the minors. Let's hold in up in prayer....... Your friend in Christ, dotcom -
Greetings, Although I should think it should be a very BIG story....you're all very right in saying this thing will probably "go away". Have you noticed how cozy the Clinton's and Bush's have become? Hillary for 8 years, then either Chelsea or one of the twins? We can have a dynasty!! Lord, Come Quickly!! Your friend in Christ, dotcom

Greetings Refuge, I appreciate your post that conspiracy theories has the potential of getting out of hand. I have offered information....and I ask questions. And I have congradulated those in our government willing to route out information. And I've kept any possible "theories" to myself.........as there is just not enough info to draw any conclusions. I am hopeful you don't think it's so out of line to discuss Gorelick, or Berger and their actions....as these people bare-out some puzzle pieces of truth on Able Danger. Able Danger may well turn out to be bigger than Watergate when it's said and done. Your friend in Christ, dotcom

Greetings M45510gic, The only Truth I know is the Word of the Lord. Thousands of our citizens died during the destruction of the Twin Towers..... A declararation of War on the Infidel. I can speak of what little information is made available on Able Danger, the 9-11 Commission, and the awful terrorists attack. These are but a few pieces of the puzzle. Please enlighten me with information as to make a picture out of this puzzle. This would alay my speculation that people have done/are doing things in secret to their own end. (That's what a conspiracy theory is) Perhaps we can discuss these things now, to seek out the truth, and be thankful there are some in our government willing to press toward the truth of "what happened". If nothing else, is because we SHOULD care. Your friend in Christ, dotcom

Greetings Jacob, Thanks for bringing the subject of Able Danger to light. I too have been wondering why the Media finds non-news like Cindy Sheehan more important than real news such as Able Danger. Is this to keep our eyes off the real news? It brings more questions than answers... Would the documents that Sandy Burglar stuffed down his pants shed light on the 9-11 Commission? What went wrong with Intelligence on the terrorists? And who was the Burglar protecting? (Burglar's sentence was a $50,000 fine, and banned from classified documents for 3 years.......slap on the wrist, shall we say?......) Why was Jaime Gorelick on the 9-11 Commission? It doesn't take on rocket scientist to recognize the conflict of interest that she, herself was directly involved (during the Clinton Administration) TO SET UP THE BARRIERS SO THE FBI, CIA, MILITARY ET AL COULD NOT SHARE INFORMATION. Who else was she protecting, beside herself? During the hearings, she looked like the cat that just swallowed the canary...really pulling one over on us, do you suppose? The military destroyed many documents relating to Able Danger in the spring of 2000 or 2001. (I can't remember which) Who were they protecting? Rumsfeld spoke out yesterday that those involved in Able Danger were not permitted to testify in this investigation because of national security. Again, I wonder who he (they) are protecting? I am left with conspiracy theories......but glad there are a few that are willing to keep digging........ Your friend in Christ, dotcom

Greetings, The Lord never left Job during all his suffering. Job's relationship with the Lord GREW during his trials......afterwhich he said (to paraphrase)....."I once heard, but now I SEE"..... The Lord can turn devastating events for the GOOD in our lives. Can anyone say our nation doesn't deserve judgement?......collectively as a nation?...............our sins are great?..........most grieviously our betrayal of Israel?........Are these things true? I pray the Lord's people are drawn to Him........that through these crisis', HIS people recognize their dependence on Him.......repent and surrender their hearts to the care of LORD JESUS. Jesus told us to not let our hearts be troubled "when we see these things"..........but to comfort one another because JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON!! Take comfort, friends. YOur friend in Christ, dotcom

okay....I'll try it again.......thanks for sharing, Spock. You may be interested in reading the Worldnetdaily article re: Rabbi's comparing/connecting the US support of the Gaza pull-out and Katrina. (It's right now linked to the michael savage web site too) I hope the contraversy you stirred doesn't discourage you........I'm very happy for you your relationship with Lord Jesus is so very strong. Bless you friend. Your friend in Christ, dotcom

Greetings one and all, WOW........what a thread............ There is apsolutely no doubt in my mind ...ALL the foundations of Salvation by our Lord Jesus is present in the RCC,.......just read the Apostles Creed posted earlier...it's all there!! The "Mass" is a beautiful Scripture based prayer......covering repentence, thanksgiving, petition, and acknowledging Christ, the Son, dying on the cross to Save Our Souls.....and the breaking of the Bread....as Christ instructed. (There is one itsy-bitsy problem.....in my own subjective experience, not many Catholics know that it is Scripture based.......because of the heavy emphasis on "Tradition") "Tradition" is such a double edged sword........where did it come from, and where is it going?? By the Grace of our Lord Jesus I have tried to be a good Berean. Some of the Mary "Apparitions" truly frighten me......it doesn't take much of a web search to find many of these sightings, and shrines are with Muslims in Africa. The ecumenism is frightening in the RCC, such as the gathering of world religions at Asissi Italy. (and Hindu worship at Fatima Portugal.) I am told in Scripture to stay away from the "spirit world".....I may learn from Mary for her profound obedience in Scripture.....and other Saints both the living and dead.....and extra-Biblical studies to further my understanding. But I want to be obedient to Scripture, and not invlove the dead in my prayer life. I'm not very happy about replacement theology, or liberation theology propagated by the RCC either........ As a brief, (subjective) testimonial, somewhere along the line by the reading of Scripture, and the teaching of the Holy Spirit, the back was broken of the tension between "doing something" (works) and the acceptance the Lord is in me, and with me 24/7. (Grace) The Lord already forgave ALL my sins, even future ones, as I will always fall short on this earth. I can rest in Him with that accomoplished!!....and free of that bondage to grow in fellowship in His Love........ (There's no room left for purgatory......) I pray we all are gathered to Him, our Shepherd. I pray the horrors going on around us all in this world are used for the good, by Lord Jesus, to gather us, His sheep................Amen Your friend in christ dotcom

I am very happy for Ann2 to have a stable Church....God Bless You! But Suzanne, as usual you are thought provoking....... For awhile, I thought it was "me".......and "my town"...... I live in a rural town, population 15,000......small-town USA There are about 30 Christian Churches listed in my town.....many of them have pretty large congregations, and alot are splinter groups. It would be a full time job to keep track of where the small group's services take place, as they are shuffled from time to time into different rented/storefront venues....and/or starting up or folding.... There are also 6 new age congregations, 3 LDS, and 2 JW..... not to mention the self-help groups listed on the religious page......... Over the last couple years, two of the best Bible teaching pastors have been run out of town over some contraversy with the elders......was money the primary issue? (The ones that are sure to stay, are part of a heirarchy system, such as a "priest") It has not been easy finding or keeping a "home-base" I go sideways when a pastor goes into a antedotal story telling tangent....leaving the point of Scripture......over and over and over again....... Topical studies can be done well.......but often there is a subtle weaving in of secular-humanistic-psychological-gobbledy-gook.... In a Bible Study, I go sideways when someone insists on leaving the Scripture being studied for their own agenda.......over and over and over again....... I have noticed that head counts, growth plans, new buildings, and "programs" have become the buzz words....... as the larger congregations shuffle into their newer, bigger, and better buildings. I'm really not a curmudgian......and do try to be patient.......a friend once said, "The minute anyone finds the perfect Church, they better leave, because they'll ruin it....." I'm not expecting that "perfect" here on earth.....just solid Bible teaching, with an occassional helping of meat and potatoes!! Somewhere along the line, by the grace of Lord Jesus, I stopped being frustrated, and He has given me different opportunities of fellowship, Bible study et al, on a Monday through Sunday basis......of which I deeply thankful...... The good news is, it has fostered a closer personal relationship with Him, Lord Jesus. Your friend in Christ........dotcom

Thanks Suzanne and One & All.......for your wonderful posts!! I suppose the Lord can use circumstances and be looking after us...by jarring us loose from a Church that has strayed from teaching the Word of the Lord........ And with that....it could be painful and lonely....but thank God for big favors!! ......To stay in the Word daily.......is the best advice to stay on track.......(and to fellowship outside of the Church building too!) prayers............dotcom

Hi Cats, I've heard that called...."majoring in the minor"........one shouldn't have overblown disputes over minor issues......but should be discerning what the major issues are......... Thanks for your offer of more food for thought..........those dividing methods,...fiery darts of confusion.............. God Bless You dotcom

Hi Suzanne, I could not find commentary on the translation differences of "do His commandments", and "wash their robes".....sorry....(....NAB translation is "wash their robes") The best link my mind can make....to be obedient to the will of the Lord, is to be washed clean by the blood the Lord shed for our sins........ I read some applicable Scripture in Daniel. It was at the "time of great trouble" (end times)..."where many will run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase". The Lord told Daniel that the prophecy would be closed up and sealed until the end. Daniel did not understand it, and was told to go his way........The Lord said: Dan: 12: 10 "Many shall be PURIFIED, and MADE WHITE, and TRIED; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand." (Also, there are a couple of images of Jesus wearing linen in this chapter.) I don't want to over-simplify, but in putting these different passages together, it seems that if a person remains "thirsty" for the Lord amid the pressure and trials of wicked things, they will be purified in His truth and wisdom, and allowed to enter in the presence of the Lord. "Thirst" is such a basic human element we can understand........I picture my mouth dry, on a hot day....(not a milkshake for dessert in this case!!) The empahasis you underlined in 22:16...in the churches....brings us back to Revelation chapters 1 through 3....the testimony of the Lord to the churches. He didn't want His Word corrupted, or watered down....(forgive the pun!) Paying lipservice of professing to be Christian is contrasted with the Lord ruling and transforming the heart .......Amen dotcom

Hi again Suzanne and y'all, Re: the white robe question........earlier on the post it was referenced that white robes were given to the martyrs........which is true.......and suggested that we should be willing to die for the Lord.......which I cannot disagree...... But there might be more to the white robes........ When Jesus spoke to the Church of Sardis He said Rev 3: 4. " You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments., and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life....." From what I understand about Sardis, they weren't suffering persecution (or martyrdom) as in some Churches......or wasn't particularly a hotbed of pagan influence. Sardis sounds like a Church that lost steam......and became indifferent or apathetic. (Jesus called them dead) I'm under the impression they became "carnal Christians", shall we say in polite terms. Again it has a ring of familiarity in todays world. Although it reads like Laodacea was much farther gone than Sardis, it may only be a call to the Laodaceans to be "overcomers" and repent ..... to be given the White Robe of the Lord.............. God Bless You.......dotcom

This is a very interesting topic, with interesting posts. The historic context gives depth of meaning. A few Scriptures come to mind in pondering this........ I think of the rich man who met Jesus. Jesus invited the rich man to "follow Me"...but the rich man did not want to have to part with his riches. This appears to have been a "knock on the door" of the rich man's heart. Seems thought provoking, and relevant in our rich society, and how we work toward our creature comforts. And relevant in many American Churches that preach health, wealth, and prosperity.....at the expense of repentance and surrender. (Laodicia had all these things: health=eye salve, wealth=didn't need Rome's money to re-build after the earthquake, prosperity="black" wool kept the cash flow happening. Maybe wealth is the most powerful way to lead people away from the Lord. It separates us even further, because we are "blinded" to any need of the Lord. And subtle, that we can become very self-sufficient. I think of Job; an inspiration.... that he was a righteous man DESPITE his wealth. As Job suffered, he also repented, and prayed for his friends (that spiritually abandoned him)....and Job's dependence and focus on the Lord grew. It is very striking what Job said: 42: 5 I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now MY EYE SEETH THEE. Peter speaks of rejoicing in our suffering. It refines the gold in the fire.....burning away all impurities. Other similar picture words come to mind.....separating the chaff from the wheat, and separating the goats from the sheep. This could be applied to an individual's heart in their walk with the Lord, or collectively in the Church. Let us pray for repentance. And that we surrender our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to the Lord. Amen dotcom
