  1. Not true. Your situation is involving an actual criminal suffereing for his crime. This Biblical text is an entire race being exterminated for the crimes of their ancestors. Like if white people were suddenly exterminated because of our ancestor's crimes against black people and indians, etc..... That's exactly what I was going to say. The babies were not the ones guilty of these crimes, yet God still demanded their deaths.
  2. This is the type of passage that makes me doubt the truth of the Bible. I believe in God, but I would never follow a deity who would order something as unarguably evil as this. It disgusts me that people actually try to justify this action.
  3. My free speech comment was directed towards the person who said "I am disappointed that this is even being tolerated at all." And what do mean about your right to express your faith being trampled on? You pretty much summed up my beliefs about Jesus, LadyC. I don't believe he was the son of God, I don't think he was resurrected, and I don't think the Bible is the word of God, I think it is the word of men who followed God, and I believe that it should be taken symbolically rather than literally. And I would love to be as confident in my beliefs as some of you are. However, I was not indoctrinated into the religion, so I think I'm able to look at it more rationally and objectively than you. That wasn't supposed to sound hostile, I just couldn't think of another way to say it.
  4. You should be generous and give them to someone who enjoys the show. The DVDs are not "evil," they just don't promote Christian values. It's fine that this bothers you, but destroying the DVDs wouldn't get rid of them any more efficiently than giving them away.
  5. I consider myself a casual believer, in that I believe in God and think that Jesus was one of the greatest examples of how to live a life in history, probably the best. I don't think a nation should go against its constitution based on the words of the Bible, however.
  6. Brokeback Mountain is an excellent film, whether you disagree with the message it's sending or not. I, for one, am glad to see it getting recognition. Oh, yeah, because limiting free speech is an excellent idea.
  7. That's a rather inflammatory comment. Do you even know the contents of the law?
  8. This is really weird. I know people argue over the existance of God, but I thought that pretty much everyone knew that Jesus was real.
  9. You should think about what you post before you post it. How is the judge's decision unconstitutional?
  10. Don't you think there's a bit of a difference there? Hint: in one case, it's consensual, in the other it isn't.
  11. This is messed up. What on Earth could drive a judge to make a decision that stupid? Could he have some external motive, or something? Ugh. I'd rather have liberals than George Bush. And I'd get disgusted watching the O'Reilly Factor any time.
  12. Whether Gore "knew the details" or not, this wire tapping is still wrong. Man, we've got until Nov. 08 with this administration.
