  1. Pilgrim7 What are you saying? You believe that the rapture and 2nd coming are the same event?
  2. *recognizing God's blessings *Having a thankful heart *Unselfishness (this one is not always easy)
  3. Everyone since the fall, are born with a sin nature it is in our flesh...Sin comes through the father, so any one who has a earthy father is born with original sin..and there body will die except those who are raptured and changed before entering into heaven. If our bodies were made completely perfect, then we would not die, we would have everlasting life, here and now.. Jesus had no earthy Father ,He had no sin, His body is already in heaven .
  4. I don't do the magical guy in the red suit at Christmas, but my children have learned about a bishop named "Saint Nicholas" who spent most of his life in prision for preaching the gospel. We do celebrate the birth of Christ even though we know it is not His real birthday. I celebrate ressurection day, but not the false goddess eshtar, whose symbols are bunnies and eggs, for fertility. Thankgiving, I have no beef about at all..... Halloween I hate it more every year!! It seems to be and get more violent. CA. had dozens of cats missing in one neighborhood, then skinned carcasses brought back and placed in their yards, a couple years ago.. My mother, who is not christian, loves halloween, but this year she was sitting on her porch in town handing out candy, when a group of kids came up and wrestled the whole bowl out of her hands and ran off..I wonder how she likes it now????? I remember when I was little and we couldn't eat our candy until we had it checked by our parents or the police station..you know..for razor blades, pins,or poison..My kids went out for years before I became a christian but my house quit almost ten years ago, after we read up on the whole purpose of it. It wasn't easy but, this year my older kids wanted to bring my grankids over dressed up in their costumes but I ask them not to, because I have an almost two year old son and I don't want to confuse him. We will not be trick or treating when he gets older.I usually buy a big bag of candy and we try real hard to find somthing decent on t.v.(not an easy job) My older boys, can chose for themselves and they know what I believe. Bible beliefs are for the believers..unbelievers do what unbelievers do..like what we use to do when we were unbelievers...
  5. The Holy Spirit is definatly working in your life by the sounds of it to me... The very fact that you are recognizing and loathing sin,is a sure sign of that. Hating the things "Of" the world is another sign. Maybe not so much hating the people, but sinful behaviors in people...We need to keep those two separate. It's not always easy to find a prayer partner, But you pray and I'll pray also, that God will send someone into your life to help you.
  6. It is also helpful to recognize that satan seeks to destroy you and your life and kill you if possible. He temps us and tries to keep us from God.He knows our weaknesses and uses them against us. I would engage in spirital warfare against satan, every time the desire comes, fight him,by praying "the Lord rebuke you satan, you have no control over my life, I am a child of the Most High God.Command him in Jesus name to get out of your life." Resist the devil and he will flee... I don't think the devil is always behind every thing, but we need to recognize that he is some of the times...
  7. The fig tree is dormant in winter, and produces leaves in spring. Trees usually bear a spring crop, and some also bear an autumn crop. Passover is in spring (usually April). It is interesting to note that Titus laid seige to Jerusalem in April 70AD, exactly 40 years after Jesus cursed the fig tree. (Many sources say that Jesus was crucified in 30AD.) This suggests that a "generation" is 40 years. Years ago, I vaghely remember a sermon preached about Jesus cursing the fig tree. That when He went to the fig tree to look for fruit, it was not literally in season for figs, and so the cursed tree was symbolic of Israel and her lack of fruit, symbolically. I also lean toward 40 years, being a generation. Come, Lord Jesus, Come!! When I first became a Christian, I felt honored to be born on the exact day and year, that Israel regained control of Jerusalem, until my 35th b-day, when terrorist came in and bombed Israel. Now I don't look forward to my 40th b-bay, this June, in fear of violance again. Hopfully/prayfully they are prepared for the worst. Does anyone know if Israel is preparing against a anniversary attack from terrorists?
  8. It could be helpful to know..When does a fig tree bear it's fruit? In Matt 21, the fig tree was cursed, 5 days before passover.
  9. God promised Abraham, that he would be, (A father of many nations), and in thee "All"families of the earth will be blessed..Gen.12 Gen. 15:4-6 V.6 And he believed in the Lord; and He counted it to him for righteousness. The "Seed" would unite "All" nations. Romans 4 V.13 For the promise, that he (Abraham) would become the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law,but through the righteousness of faith. Isa. 42:1-9 The Lord's Chosen Servant V.1 He will reveal justice to the"many" nations(gentiles). V.6 He will be a light unto the gentiles."many nations" John 1:4-8 V.4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.V.7 John(baptist) was a wittness of the Light, that "All" men through Him might believe. V.9 Jesus is the true Light, which lighteth every man that comes into the world. John 8:12 Jesus said I am the Light of the world."All"nations. Luke 2:25-35 V.30-32 For my eyes have seen thy salvation which thou has prepared before the face of "all people", A light to lighten the gentiles...."many nations" But, Moses was the mediator of "One" nation, the giving of the law to "One" nation Israel, was for a purpose of keeping them separate from the other "Many" nations of the world,so that the blood line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, would not be deminished by pagan/wickedness,(Till the "Seed" should come to whom the promise was made.)Gal.3:19 As history showed from Adam to Noah,to Babel,to Abram,to Egypt.... John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. John 4:21-26 V.24 God is Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.(to a samaritian woman) During Jesus' earthly ministry, He instructs the twelve apostles saying,"Go not into the way of the gentiles, and into any city of the samaritans(1/2 Jews) enter ye not: But rather go to the lost sheep of Israel. And as ye go,preach, saying the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 10:5-7 Acts 11:19 about 10 yrs after Christ's ascension, They were preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. Acts 9:10-15 V.15 The lord said to Ananias" Go thy way: for he(Saul) is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the gentiles.... Gal. 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one,And to thy Seed, which is Christ. Moses ,the mediator of "One" nation,Israel, was not the promised "Seed", nor was the law given to "many nations".The law was not intended to bring together "All" nations as "One" family, from "many" nations. Only through Abraham's Seed which is Christ do we recieve the Spirit of adoption. Those who do not have the Son, do not have the Father either..those who do not have the Holy Spirit, do not belong to Christ.. The law was and is very nessesary to prove (conclude) "All" under sin. (Romans 3:1-31;4:1-15; Gal.3) Both the circumscision and the uncircumscision, that every mouth may be shut...This brings "All" men equally, in need of the One and only way of salvation, through Jesus Christ the promised"Seed' of Abraham (who was not a Jew, nor obedent to Mosiaic Law, and when he recieved the promise,to be the father of "many" nations, was not circumscised). Salvation does not come through our birth parents(through the flesh). We are not born Christians because our parents are Christians or because we are born Jewish,Greek,Arab, ect...We must be born again,by faith in Christ and recieving the Holy Spirit and then we become adopted into the family of God(Rom. 8:14,23;Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5),and are the true heirs of Abraham. For there is neither Greek or Jew, male or female, free or slave in Christ Jesus... Jesus is the Mediator of "All"nations/people,who have faith in Him...He brings "All" nations into "ONE" family. 1 Cor. 12:12-14 For as the body is One, and hath "many" members, and "All' the members of that One body, being "many', are One body, so also is Christ. For by One Spirit are we "All" baptized into One body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free;and have been "All" made to drink into One Spirit. For the body is not One member, but "many". Eph.4:4-6 There is One body, and One Spirit, even as ye are called in One hope of your calling; One Lord, One faith,One baptism, One God and Father of "All", who is above "All", and through "All", and in you "All".
  10. There is no proof that God bound the Sabbath on men from creation. Moses, does not mention in any passage, that Abraham kept the Sabbath. Ezek. 20:10-12 says that God gave Israel,(One Nation, not all or 'Many'), the Sabbath as a sign between Him and them, when He lead the out of Egypt. Duet. 5:15 says it was a memorial of that event. Infact, Abraham was not even Jewish... The Sabbath was given to the Jews 430 yrs. after the Promise was given to Abraham. And again, nowhere does it show Abraham keeping Sabbath. When he received the promise,he was not circumcised or obedient to the mosaic law. (Roman 4;Gal. 3) Jesus, was the fulfillment of the promise (seed) given to Abraham, the Law cannot disannual the promise. Jesus said, the Will of His Father was to believe on the Son..John 6:40
  11. Sunday did not replace the 'Jews Sabbath'. The Sabbath was given to the Israelites, under the Mosiac/Sinaitic covenant which was 'by the Law'.In OT anyone who wanted to be in a covenant relationship with God, had to become Jewish and come under the law. Believers in Christ are under the Abrahamic covenant(promise) which is through the righteousness of faith. The just shall live by faith. We do not have to become Jews or come under the law/Mosaic/Sinaitic covenant in order to have a relationship with God. Abraham was promised to be the father of 'many' nations, was given the promise, before the Law and before circumscision threw his "Promised Seed", which is Christ. When Jesus shed His blood, that was the blood of the New Covenant, the Holy Spirit our seal/surety, of salvation. We are sons and daughters by adoption. We are a people for His name. We are the true heirs of Abraham. If they which are under the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect... The Israelites as a nation are the blood descendants of Abraham. They are God's chosen people as a wittness to the world that He is faithful and keeps His word, and that the world may know that He alone is God, Jehovah (not allah, budda ect..). He has promises for them, and them alone. Just as He does for us who place our rest 'In Christ', not in our selves, lest any man should boast.
  12. Psalms 16:10;Acts 2:27,31;13:35 "Thou shall not suffer Thy Holy One to see corruption." I believe, the reason Jesus' body did not see corruption was because; He was crucified on the 6th day/Preparation Day. In, John 6:25-59 Jesus states: He is the Bread Of Life, The True Bread From Heaven, and I Am The Living Bread Which Came Down From Heaven. In Exod. 16:1-30, The manna that was collected from the first day/Sunday--the fifth day/Thursday,would become stinky and full of worms the following morning. But, a double portion was to be 'prepared' on the 6th day, Only the 6th day manna, would not become stinky and full of worms through the next day. Just like the OT manna was a type of Christ and the 6th day manna, would not rot through the next day, Jesus was the anti-type,the True Manna, His body was 'prepared' on the 6th day, and did not see corruption. The manna substained the Israelites in the 'wilderness', until they entered the land that God had promised them. Jesus is the True Bread from heaven, who substains us in the 'wilderness/earth' until we reach our promise land/Heaven.
  13. Jesus said it would be 3 days and 3 nights. Friday afternoon until Sunday morning is 2 nights and one day using elementary mathematics. This is another example of how understanding the hebraic context of the scriptures is helpful. The Passover is a Sabbath no matter what day of the week it lands on...but besides that the Essenes held a different calendar than the Judeans so there was even a dispute as to which day Passover really began on in those days... It is entirely possible (maybe even likely) that there were two different days observed by the two different groups much the same as the Eastern Orthodox celebrate christmas and ishtar on different days than Roman Catholics (and thus Protestants by default) Jesus also said "On The Third Day". This example is from the link that I posted earlier: A literal 72 hr. example in scripture; Let's say this is on a Wed. A:)Acts 10:3 Cornelius recieves a vision about the ninth hour(3 pm) b:)Mark 15:34,37 Jesus, about the ninth hour(3pm) cried out with a loud vioce and gave up the ghost. Lets say This is on a Thursday A:)Acts 10:9 On the next day,the servants enter Joppa, and meet with Peter B:)This day is supposably a Sabbath, although "feast days" were never ever called a Sabbath(outside of the books of Moses) through out the rest of the Bible. Let's say this is on a Friday. A:)Acts 10:23 On the next day, Peter leaves with the servants to go to Caesarea. B:)From about 6pm, after Thursday Sabbath and ALL daylight hours Friday, Mary is buying and preparing spices, and runs out of time to go to the tomb. Let's say this is a weekly Sabbath, not the feast Sabbath,as it was called on Thursday. A:) Acts 10:24 The Next day, Peter and the servants enter Caesarea where Cornelius is waiting for them. B:)Jesus supposably is risen about the ninth hour(3pm), The gaurds are sleeping. No one knows that He has risen.. A:)Acts 10:30(still the same day)" Cornelius said, FOUR DAYS AGO I was fasting until THIS HOUR; and at the ninth hour(3pm)............." The first day of the week A:)Mark 16:1,2 The Marys went, very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. About 15 hours after Christ had risen, they finally find out......... According to this theory, Jesus would have, burden a donkey the previous Sabbath, and He would not be the anti-type of First Fruits/Wave Sheaf.
  14. So, You say, He died 3 pm Wen.(day 1,in Jewish time),then "one" of the"two" sabbaths was Thurs.(day 2, Jewish time) then Fri.(day 3,Jewish time), the day Mary was so busy buying and preparing spices that she couldn't go to the tomb before dark.Sabbath (#"two"}(day 4,Jewish time) you say He rose between 3pm-and before dark(day 5,Jewish time)when the Roman soldiers were sleeping (before dark Sat.) What was I thinking?? I thought the scriptures that Jesus said "I will rise again on the third day",meant on the third day?? Silly me!!
  15. If you think that I was giving you a trick question, then it shows your lack of understanding.... I'm not contradicting Jesus, unless you think that you are Jesus..
  16. Beta, According to your infalliable proof, When did the literal 72 hrs. end?? When,.. before dark, the day before Mary went to the tomb?? It took every one including the gaurds over twelve hrs. to discover He had risen??
  17. I am still waiting for your infalliable proof from scripture, that He rose on Sabbath....None of the disciples state that.. They had enough time to think about and write that account down...But they all still say "the first day of the week"... Matt. and Mark were written 17-37 years after Chist's ressurection... Luke was written 25-37 years after the ressurection.. John, 52-63 yrs after He was risen.. They all say," the first day of the week"... Mark 16:9 "Now when Jesus was risen Early The First Day Of The Week,He appeared first to...." Where does it say He was risen on the Sabbath?? Nowhere.. It only says that to people when they use their vain imaginations.
  18. You could have save yourself alot of ambarrasment if you would do some research instead of assuming you know something. You are the one reading into the scriptures, things that are not there. You are either a spiritual babe and/or someone has slipped some raw sewage into your milk. Either way, I feel very sorry for you...
  19. I don't believe Christ was in the grave on Friday morn.,you do.If He were, I believe Mary would have been there, without a doubt, "while it was still dark" on Prepration day/Friday(before they named it 'Friday'), instead of the first day as the scriptures said. But you don't believe that......I do...
  20. Your probably right, Mary didn't have time for"GOD THE SON" on Friday, what's a couple more days, it's only the rotting corpse of God's and her Son,right.?( Scripure shows that none of discilpes or Mary were expecting Him to be ressurected.) If you are reading the scriptures and don't have outside influences, then, I'm sure you will get it, eventually Sorry for trying to help you, I won't try again...I'll turn the other cheek when you insult my brothers and sisters by calling them decieved by satan... Nana
  21. The point is that the days/feasts were very important then, in this respect, Jesus was fulfilling prophecies concerning Himself,His entry into Jeruselem,Passover Lamb, First Fruits ect... Another point is,the gospels say "on the first day of the week"(Matt.28), why should we not believe what it says??Does people, like Beta, think it was a trick to get people to believe a lie or something?? Thats just crazy!! Some people like Beta, have some kind of contempt for sunday and act as if satan created it and those who worship on that day are influenced by the devil ....(wittenly or not, it is offence to some). Instead of trying to understand others beliefs, you want to stomp all over them, and insult people's knowledge of the truth... I look at the first day of creation and see that there may be a hint for a first day ressurection..among other reasons. (in my opinion) Gen.1 The First Day God said let there be light: and there was light...God divided the light from the darkness...
  22. Did you even read it through?? Did you ever consider that your mind is already polluted and satan is keeping you from knowing the truth?? There is plenty of evidence from scripture on this site that you really should consider. For instance, if Christ died on Wed. then Mary would have been free to prepare the Lord's body on Fri.,but she instead decided to wait 'two more days' instead??, until the first day of the week.(Mary would not have waited, she would have went Fri. if that were the case!!) Not only that,if Christ rose on Sabbath, this would also mean just days prior, would have been Palm Saturday, instead of Sunday, and thousands of people would be breaking the the Sabbath by cutting palm branches and Christ would be making a donkey carry a burden on Sabbath, when He rode in on it. There is lots of things that you may not know, and at the very least, you might find out why others believe what they believe.
  23. This is the day most of the early church chose to worship because of the Resurrection. It is a tradition and a display of unity. However no particular day is the designated day of rest and worship in the NT. The Sabbath was not officially "changed". The Sabbath, as has been explained in threads you won't address, has been fulfilled in Christ, our Sabbath rest. sw What do you mean that the sabbath was fullfilled? If you mean that it was fullfilled on every seventh day when christians observe it then you're right. Jesus even said that he did not come to destroy the law, but to fullfill it. If what you're saying, or implying, is true then we don't have to mind the other nine commandments. The truth is that he fullfilled them by not breaking them. He showed us the example. People like you, who argue that it is not binding, say what's wrong with Sunday? The answer is Nothing is wrong with Sunday Worship. It's the disregard of the seventh day Sabbath, which God set aside as holy, and commands us to keep that is wrong. That is to say that your way is just as good as Gods. Why did cain kill Able??? Because Able did his sacrifice Gods way, and it was accepted. Cain did a sacrifice too, but it was not what God commanded: It was Cains own idea of what to do, and was not accepted. What would Jesus do? I think he would do as his Father in Heaven commanded. We are Judged according to what we do with what we know. If you know better then you should repent and change your ways. That is what repentence is: to stop the behavior that is wrong. In this case it would be to stop disregarding the Fourth Commandment. I do not wish to argue, and I do not condemn you; only sin. As a brother in Christ it is my duty to show the light of Christ, and be the salt of the earth. (Salt can burn if put on a wound). One last thought....It takes more than belief. Even Satan and his angels belive and tremble! I don't know if you are a new believer, but if you have a pastor, you would be doing yourself a favor if you dicussed your beliefs with him, and let him explain the rest of the NT with you. You don't have the full meaning of what Christ did for you/us.
