  1. Is There Life in Outer Space? Those who believe life exists on distant planets usually base that belief on the following reasoning: Life evolved on Earth. Because the universe is so immense and contains so many heavenly bodies, life probably evolved on other planets as well. This reasoning is flawed. First, it assumes life evolved on Earth. Overwhelming evidence shows life is so complex it could not have evolved
  2. It is a scientific fact that the body under "normal" conditions will begin to decay after 3 days. But with todays funeral parlors, they have "coolers" to keep the body fresh and the fact that they replace your blood with embalming fluid helps to retard or delay the decaying effect. Why did Jesus raise from the dead on the third day? "He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption." (Acts 2:31) The greek for "corruption" is diaphthora { dee-af-thor-ah
  3. What was that Leonard?! Kind of half-heartiness isn't it?! Way to go Revel. I read all your post in this thread and found it very insightful! I believe also, that the Old Testament gave (2) great examples of The rapture or translation of God's servant, Enoch & Elijah.
  4. Oh no, I've learned a long time ago not to let the differences of doctrine offend me. All I can do is to present truth from the Bible as much as the Holy Spirit will allow. And if someone disagrees, then so be it. I still have alot to learn and probabley will still be learning for the rest of my days. That is because the Bible is inexhaustible.......but, please humor me and allow me to go on. If you are truly a child of God through the rebirth of the spirit and are born into the family of God, He said that He will not leave you nor ever forsake you, even if somehow you chose to "give it back". Why? for several reasons; 1.) The blood covenant that God made with you through the blood of his preciuos Son is His to keep. Salvation is a gift freely given and once you open that gift, you receive that covenant that God offers, you can do nothing to "earn" that gift. The covenant that He made with Himself and for Himself. That covenant is unconditional because it is a gift freely given. But there is only one way of receiving that free gift. You receive it with a repentive attitude "And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner." (Luke 18:13) 2.) Remember the parable of the 99 and 1 sheep? Jesus said that the good shepherd left the 99 to go after the 1. If you try to walk away, God will come after you. He will allow obstacles and trials to be placed in your path in order to bring you back. He will chastin you as a loving parent would their own child. Show me in the Bible as an example of God making a covenant with a person or people and allow them to simply walk away. It's not there. 3.) "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." (John 14:16,17) Though you may TRY to walk away you will still be Taking the Holy Spirit with you. Thats why the bible teaches us that we can Grieve the Holy Spirit by our words and action. Do you want more proof that the Holy Spirit will never leave you? Read on.... 4.) "O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." (Psalm 139:1-12) If a person that you know, has ever walked away and never came back then they NEVER knew Christ to begin with. Sure, they might have said a prayer or called out to the Lord to help them, but even the world, when in trouble, will do the same but usually it's just for the moment, until everything is fine again. Check out what (1 John 2:19) says, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us." I hope this is helpful, til next post.
  5. I was not saying that free will gets you saved, quite the opposite. I am saying that when a person is dead, spiritually speaking, or not saved, they are incapable of free will. God has to intervene. because the Bible says that none seeks after God. It also says that we are slaves to sin or in bondage to it because we are sinners by our very nature. Going against our own nature is like a lion eating hay. This would be at odds with the lion's nature since he would be a carnivour by nature When we are in our depravity and in bondage to our own sinfulness, we have no free will. We only do the desires of our own deceptive hearts. To do what I want to do. God has to intervene.
  6. The Great White Throne does not indicate anything but the degree of torment (or punishment) a person will receive according to their works. And with this statement, you put God in the catagory of a physic, and neglect His Soverienty, controling the events of man's history to an ultimate end. Whether that end is the lake of fire or in His presence (Heaven). And the fact that this world system will come to an end is foretold and God will perform it. (Isaiah 46;10- "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:") Here are just a few examples of God's Soverienty; 1.) He told Moses that He was going to harden Pharoah's heart. 2.) God even told Rebecca that the older shall serve the younger before they were born. And if you notice God's involvemnt in Jacob's life (although his very named meant; "deceiver"), where was God in Esa's life. 3.) What about Jonah? He hated the ninevites with a passion, but didn't God force him against his will? Jonah didn't want to tell them of the impending judgement of God, he hated them and wanted to see God judge them. Even when the ninevites repented Jonah sulked. 4.) most people who claim that they had free will before Salvation has a hard time explaining the chapter of Romans 9. Let me ask a few questions; 1.) Who chose you before the foundations of the world? 2.) who said, "For many are called, but few are chosen." (Matt. 22:14) And what did He mean by that statement? 3.) From who or where does your faith come from? (Romans 10:17) 4.) Who convinces us of sin? 5.) Who then, is it that draws us or woos us to christ? 6.) Who will keep us to the end and is the author and finisher of our faith? Jesus, who is God in the flesh, even stated: "Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee."(Matt. 11:21-24)Why wouldn't He be willing to allow such "mighty works" so that they might of repented in sackcloth? Why didn't God do this if He is willing that none should perish? Actually that scripture is often mis-quoted. This is what it actually says: (KJV, 2 Peter 3:9) "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Who was Peter talking to? The elect? The previous verses reveals who he wasn't talking to. One thing i've noticed about people adhering to the notion of a "free will" before salvation are the same ones who mistakenly think that they can "pluck" themselves out of God's hands once they are saved (free will). They do not believe in the security of salvation. It's not a question of whether you lost your salvation, but rather, you need to ask yourself wether you were ever saved or not. Well, I rest for now.
  7. According to Luke 3:23, Jesus was 30 when He was baptized and then He was led into the wilderness to be tempted in the 3 areas of which man was tempted and failed ("For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."-1 John 2:16). I believe that this began His ministry, because of the anointing when the Holy Spirit descended and lighted upon Him in the form of a dove. From hencefourth, He would have to be observed, i believe, for three years as being a "Lamb unblemished". Just like the Passover lamb had to be observed for 3 days. And as 1 Peter 1:18-20 states, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" His ministry was out in the open for ALL to observe, for what I believe, to be for 3 years. So, what I can conclude with this is that it was very probable that Jesus was 33 years old when He was sacrifriced for the atonement of our sin
