  1. You prove your lack of Biblical knowledge! He was being punished for his actions and God turned him over to being a madman! See what the Bible has to say: Daniel 4:9 "Twelve months later he was walking on the {roof of} the royal palace of Babylon. 30 "The king reflected and said, 'Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?' 31 "While the word {was} in the king's mouth, a voice came from heaven, {saying,} 'King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you, 32 and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place {will be} with the beasts of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.' 33 "Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles' {feathers} and his nails like birds' {claws.} 34 "But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom {endures} from generation to generation. 35 " All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And {among} the inhabitants of earth; And no one can ward off His hand Or say to Him, ' What have You done?' 36 "At that time my reason returned to me. And my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom, and my counselors and my nobles began seeking me out; so I was reestablished in my sovereignty, and surpassing greatness was added to me. 37 "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride." Your exegis of Scripture is completely horrible! You cannot insert meanings that are not there and that is exactly what you are doing!!!! Before you attempt to teach others, I would suggest you grasp a basic understanding of the Bible, and you DO NOT grasp even the most elementary concepts! As for eating meat, I will let the Apostle Paul speak: I Corinthians 10:25 Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions for conscience' sake Now given your sloppy way of inserting whatever meaning you want into Scripture, I'm sure you will say Paul was at the meat market buying tofu or something, but such is not the case! Also, what do you do with the Scripture of Jesus feeding the multitude with fish? We're awaiting anxiously to see how you explain it away! Ronald summed it up well in the above quote when he wrote: Emphasis mine... There can be no worthwhile discussion with a guy who puts words and events in the bible that are not there and claims to have a relationship with a "Jesus" that doesn't exist except for him.
  2. The reason hereticks like those found on TBN like to call people who dare question their doctrinal positions names such as neo-phairsees, heresey hunters, etc. is a diversion. They cannot defend their doctrinal positions from the bible which is the believers final authority for faith and practice so they use other tactics. Here is highly praised by TBN Benny Hinn trying to get people to make a "seed faith offering" by making outrageous claims. For more click here. http://cultlink.com/ar/hinnfalse.htm This is a short quote from the above link by Hinn. 1999 Praise-a-Thon, Trinity Broadcasting Networks Deuteronomy 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
  3. just doing what i can to help. I know that part of the reason you are unemployed is because you say you can't find work that won't violate your conscience and partly because you are sick all the time. Kosher eating hasn't seemed to have kept you healthy. There are lots of people who eat pork and other foods and are gainfully employed and healthy. Also, you post (work) on the Sabbath which is a violation of Jewish law which you claim is still applicable today. Why are you so concerned with dietary laws and yet violate the commandment to keep the Sabbath Day Holy? Correct me if I have misunderstood you. And if I haven't... How do you explain these inconsistencies? Thanks, Robert
  4. Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
  5. That sounds like philosophy. The idea that we should rely on God is an absolute divine truth. Which is a philosophical concept Philosophy is the love of knowledge, or the declaration of knowledge. Modern philosophers have attempted to shape it into a search for knowledge, but this is not the case. A philosophy is a stance one takes when looking at the world, this is what it meant in the Greek and also what it meant for almost 2,000 years until philosophers began to shift what it means. Thus, under the real definition, if you are declaring something absolute and that we have to follow, you are following a certain philosophy. please be careful as to what words you are using here.... 'wink' (words I enjoy myself.....meditation, contemplation, philosophy, reasoning, words written upon tablets of flesh................words I don't enjoy.....literalism (I just made that one up), religion, letter of law, and hate. Why are any of those words wrong, especially contemplation, philosophy, and reasoning? Explain to me how they are "tablets of flesh" when they are commanded for us to learn by God. Just my two cents but I think we should at least attempt to tie all this in with the topic. How did this become a thread based on word definitions alone? What about people that want to warn the church about bad doctrine being called "neo-pharisees"? Just wondering...
  6. We do need to be careful in the use of words. Words like love and hate we need to examine in the context in which they are written. We also have to be careful to take the time to understand where people are coming from when in their use of words. Words of Jesus Revelation 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Revelation 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. In the Psalms: Psalms 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalms 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Psalms 119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. There are people that love evil. They love drugs. They love illicit sex. They love to steal. They love hurting others. We also need to be careful not to ignore the literal meaning of the bible when it is in conflict with our own philosophies. Those who hate people that point out false doctrines or evil practices in the church "love" to point to certain scriptures to silence them. They only use "literalism" when it suits their purposes. I agree we definitely need to be careful when using words.
  7. The preaching of the cross is foolishness to the world but it is not foolishness to us it is the "power of God". I never said anything about the preaching of the cross being irrational I just posted some scriptures... 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1 Corinthians 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 1 Corinthians 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
  8. The message of salvation is foolishness to the world. 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 1 Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
  9. Nothing is more important than understanding the following Mark 8:36-37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? What Jesus did for us Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price that we could never pay. He is eternal and perfect. We are finite and corrupt. God became a man to make atonement for us. Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Through Him we have redemption and can KNOW without a doubt we are saved. "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace" (Eph. 1:7) "Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins" (Acts 13:38) "To Him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins" (Acts 10:43) Jesus died for us while we were yet in bondage and rebellion. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8) "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4:9,10) "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6) "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God" (1 Pet. 3:18) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1John 5:13 Click here on how to be saved http://www.fundamentalbiblechurch.org/Tracts/fbconsdr.htm There is a reward beyond our comprehension for those who love our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
  10. I love pumping iron and have been doing it since I was 13 years old. I have personally never competed but I know some fine upstanding people who do. I think you should let your conscience be your guide. Many of my friends are into bodybuilding and power lifting and one of my son's has competed in three or four competitions. He took first in his class and second over all in one of them. The area I live in has a lot of competitive bodybuilders and power lifters. Fitness is a hobby I really enjoy. I don't know if this has been helpful or not. Just sharing my opinion. Keep the faith, Robert
  11. Ovedya, I usually don't read every word or sentence in posts that long but I read every word and didn't disagree with a single sentence. "That's what I'm talkin about!"
  12. Actually, John wrote that the accounts about Jesus could not be contained by all the writings in the world. This is to say that Christ accomplished a lot more but John merely focused on what he believed was important. This is not refering to truth but instead historical accounts. The Bible is the foundation of all truth. Even if not distinctly mentioned in the bible, if something is truth you will inevitably find its concept within the Bible. This is the foundation of all Christian philosophy, that there is an absolute and it has no actual competition, just those that wish to compete. Well said!
  13. The bible contains all the truth pertaining to faith and practice God has deemed fit for us to have. Think about that. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Every heretick wants to believe that he or she has "special knowledge" that isn't in the bible. We have to be careful we don't fall into that category. Next thing you know we will be giving "our spin" to everything in written in the bible instead of reading it for what it says.
  14. None of us including those who have not heard of Jesus or the gospel have been capable of keeping keep their own morals and standards. No one has kept God's. Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: How God deals with the sins of those who haven't heard the gospel is His concern, not ours. There are many people who have heard and still reject the gospel. I don't have my own definition of the gospel. You don't have the problem of having not heard. That should be your concern... The bible is very clear. Those who are not saved are children of wrath. Those of us who believe the bible and don't create Jesus in our image and our likeness understand that. Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Not knowing the gospel will not cut it... 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; I know I am being "set up here". The next question should be "what about the people who were born berfore Christ was crucified what about them?".
  15. Good post Ronald. TheChild, is concerned with Christians keeping Jewish dietary laws but he has no problem posting on the Sabbath. Go figure!
  16. The Church is never given any dietary laws in the New Testament. I watch what I eat and how much I eat. I love bacon but I rarely eat it. Not because it will make me "unclean" but because I am a fitness buff. I will eat bacon once in a while. I generally avoid too much fat and grease in my meat. I have cut down on my consumption of canned and processed foods. Again this is because I feel better eating raw vegetables and natural foods and I have more endurance and my "plumbing" seems to work better. James gave the church some rules. Acts 15:19-20 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. I follow the above guidelines and do whatever I think is wise when it comes to diet. I don't judge my brothers and sisters in Christ if they choose to eat a pizza with Canadian Bacon. I might have a slice myself. We are not under Jewish law.
  17. Webster's 1828 dictionary God's Word is Truth John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
  18. My philosophy on excercise is to train in an eclectic manner. Use "shock and awe" training methods. Low reps and high resistance for a while and then switch to lower resistance and higher reps. Sometimes I do both in the same workout. I didn't get this philosophy from the Word of God. Am I wrong? My credo is "I am may be stupid but at least I am ugly and no one can take that away from me". That is the way I look at it. I could be wrong. After all, I was wrong once before so it's possible it could happen again.
  19. These problems are nothing new but they are getting progressively worse. Here is what one preacher who lived and preached from the mid 1800's to the begining of the 1900's wrote in his day.
  20. Naturally, those who are for a watered down anything goes church are going to attack those who are obedient to the scriptures. Jude 1:3-4 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus warned the church in Thyatira for allowing a leaven in their church from going unchallenged. Revelation 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; Revelation 2:19-20 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. Today there are those who tolerate almost anything in the churches such as Occult practices and unbiblical rituals etc. Anyone who points these things out is going to be attacked by those who want worldly practices in the church to make it more "seeker friendly".
  21. Is all philosophy bad or just man's philosophy as opposed to God's truth?
  22. As I stated earlier, we know Christian faith can correctly be defined as a philosophy. While Christian faith can be defined in the limited term as a
  23. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: I have not seen Jesus and though I see Him not I can still rejoice. Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? According to the scriptures Paul was the last person to see Jesus. John saw Him again on Patmos but he had already seen the lord. 1 Corinthians 15:5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 1 Corinthians 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 1 Corinthians 15:8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
  24. That sounds like philosophy. The idea that we should rely on God is an absolute divine truth. Amen!
