The War On Guns
The_Patriot21 replied to Waiting2BwithHim's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
I guess then because Jesus never owned a car that we shouldn't one car they must be of the devil. Oh wait Jesus never owned a computer either. Does that mean your using a tool of the devil to argue against tools of the devil? The point is your argument is a nonexistent one. Guns, cars and computers didn't exist during Jesus day so of course he didn't own one. He did however tell his disciples to go out and buy a sword which was the "gun" of the day so obviously even Jesus knew there was a time and place for them. There's still a time and place for them. There is nothing about a gun that is eviller then a sword or a whip (which incidently Jesus did use) its just a tool. So please don't use the argument that since Jesus didn't have a gun then it must be evil. Its a very poorly thought out argument, Jesus didn't own a bible either. -
Like I said it was never intended to. Just pure entertainment. Tolkien's own words. Good entertainment in my opinion but entertainment nonetheless. However, if you actually not pick and compare characters-Gandalf actually makes a better Christ like character then aslan (spelling? Anyway the lion from narnia) which was actually intended to be a allegory of Christ. Food for thought.
-
They're not allegorys like c.s. lewises books. Tolkien himself said they were pure fiction intended for the sole purpose of entertainment. With that said he was a christian and some of his values seem to have shown through but even without them I found the movies to be good clean entertainment and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Democracy is the road to socialism

democracy, only works until people figure out they can vote themselves benefits from the national treasury. Interesting side note. America, which is often upheld as the "model democracy" by many people including americans, is not a democracy, it is a republic. -
George Washington. Benjamin Franklin, Samual Adams, plus many, many more, were all considered traitors at the time. food for thought.

I like it, very good song.

I do build and repair computers as a side job. As far as installing together, as long as you dont install comodos antivirus, they will run. Comodo Anti-virus and Avast antivirus, do not work well together if both are set to active protection. Of course, if you set one as manual, that prevents that problem. But if you just use avast antivirus and comodo firewall alone, you wont (shouldnt anyway) have any problems.
-
yes, absolutly, as long as you only download the firewall from comodo-the firewall, just helps prevent hackers from getting in, it doesnt search for malware, Avast! just looks for malware, the two work very well together-I Install them on every client computer I work on.
-
Thanks Pat.I have downloaded Avast and it is working well.I am doing a complete scan.It has already found 6 infected file. The McAfee scans have never found anything.I might just pay for the better program. The better program gives you the exact same anti-virus-it just adds other features like firewall, and real time protection (scans each web page you open, and downloaded files etc) In all honesty, avasts antivirus is great, but the features the paid programs offer arnt worth it-especially if you combine it with with comodos firewall (which is free and better then Avasts firewall) and you can get the same protection for free. Now, another thing I forget, if Avast alone doesnt take care of the issue, download and run a program called Rkill, It is not an antivirus, but it can help. What happens is, some viruses actually prevent Anti-viruses from working right or even starting-and what Rkill does, is go in and allow the anti-viruses to work properly, so you want to run Rkill, and then run Avast! again after running rkill.
-
mcafee is an anti-virus, so is avast, however, Mcafree, is a substandard (not bad, but not good either) anti-virus. Avast! is a better anti-virus in my experience, and yes is free, and in my past testing, works well with mcafee. Comodo firewall, is also 100% free. it looks like whoever hacked the computer did some serious programming-perhaps past my level of expertise. If you go to www.bleepingcomputer.com and create an account, and go down to "am I infected, what do I do" you can start a thread and get free help from some very solid security experts who maybe better able to assist then I.

does the bottom still have the traditional windows tool bar and menu button, and does it still have your regular windows icons? It could be someone (either a hacker or someone you allowed onto you computer) simply changed your background image as a joke-can you go into start > control panel > appearance and personalization >desktop background, and choosing a different background. If it allows you to change to a different background, then we can assume someone changed your background, and hope thats all it was (could be a friend, or a amateur hacker with to much time on his hand) I would still run a good anti-virus scan such as Avast! and install a good, solid firewall such as Comodo. If you cannot change it that way, we will go from there.

what do you mean by Ubuntu desktop? Here is am image of a typical Ubuntu desktop (layout, not background picture) does it look like this? also, you didn't answer my question-it may help me figure out what exactly happened, on the day that it switched to the JL background, did you download anything, or the day before? or anything weird or out of the ordinary happen, and did anyone else have access to your computer?
-
did you install anything about that time? or download anything? It almost sounds like you got hacked. Other then the change of background, has anything else changed? First thing I would try is to click the start button. Then go to All Programs, then click accessories. In the accessories menu there should be a system tools. From that menu click system restore. If you are prompted to an admin password or confirmation enter the password or click approve. It should bring up a window that has several options, and several restore points to restore to-choose a restore point that is older then the time your desktop changed, and click restore computer.

The War On Guns
The_Patriot21 replied to Waiting2BwithHim's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
If never let a madman have a gun-no one would. But your a fool if you think banning guns will keep madmen from getting guns-all it will do is take away the honest mans ability to protect himself from the madman with a gun. The bad people will always have guns-period. Gun control ONLY affects the honest. And 90% of the time the only thing that stops a madman with a gun is a good guy with a gun. -
Is Online Dating Biblical?

Read somewhere that online marriages are 25% less likely to end in divorce over those that met in real life. Especially if they go through a service like e harmony. Food for thought... -
Superman:Flying to a Church near you.

I think one should watch the movie, before judging a movie soley on the reviews alone. Im not sure I would show this, or any other secular movie in a church itself, not for sunday service anyway, but hey, if they can find stuff to preach on great, may even make a good youth night. Focus on the family gave it a decent review, not outstanding but it wasnt to bad. Ill probably watch it when and if I get time. -
anyway He can.

hey if a preacher can find somethin to preach on, then great. One of my favorite sermons of a former pastor of mine, created an entire sermon from one scene from the LOTRs. If itll preach then preach it. .. -

Fact is in 95% of America you are safe without a gun. Same with the UK and Australia. School shootings are actually on a decline-have been for 20 years. The USA is not this big violent madhouse full of cowboys and maniacs running around shooting everyone. That's a big fat lie, pushed by a liberal media to control guns-which aren't the problem. The UK and Australia prove that-the UK saw an increase in violent crime (all violent crime not just homicides) and Australia saw no difference whatsoever. Australia's overall violent crime rate was already on the decline when they banned guns. Now if guns were the huge problem that many make them out to be you would expect a drastic lowering of the crime rate-but that didn't happen. It lowered but at the exact same rate as before the gun ban. Some areas spiked, especially the areas with a lot of gang activity, but overall it lowered. The gun ban, had zero effect on it whatsoever, they could have kept their guns and still be just as safe today. Guns are amoral. They do not think. They do not feel. They do not judge. They do not kill. All those things, are things only people can do. Keep in mind in the Bible only one man was described as a man after Gods own heart-and that man was a warrior, who killed hundreds if not thousands of people.
