So it wouldn't be possible to take Canada's system and replicate it on a larger scale? Because while I realize Canada's healthcare has it's flaws, it it fairly efficient and hasn't resulted in any mass deficit. Would it be impossible to break the US into several regions (perhaps even just use the existing states) and have the healthcare controlled independantly? And of course, my real issue isn't just health care, it's why anything communism related is instantly considered wrong. Like cmparing the two side by side, obviously Capitalism works best (See Berlin prior to the wall) but is it so crazy to consider that a combination of the two might work well? We already have a government-run health care system; just look at what a GREAT job the V.A. does! almost as good as oregon's current government health care system

I am so sorry for the hurt you must be feeling. I too believe that God doesn't want us to be doormats. And, I too would never tell someone to stay who is being abused. I'll be praying for you. thank you so much. This has drawn me much closer to Him. Sad though the kids are the ones that get hurt the worst.

I would say a divorce in such a situation is permissible if not the right thing to do. I can't cite any scripture to that effect but I think God's will for kindness makes it rather obvious despite no explicit statements on the matter. I am getting a divorce for this very reason he also has a girl friend. I don't think God wants us to be doormats how would staying be right. He wasn't like this when we were first married so I hadn't any idea I would be where I am. I would never tell someone being abused to stay. That is just me though.
