  1. I could not figure out where to put this so if it needs moved be my guest. I received this in an email. While I am not sure if this is actual it certainly makes a point. Abstinence (By Robert Layton) I WAS HOLDING A NOTICE FROM my 13-year-old son's school announcing a meeting to preview the new course in sexuality. Parents could examine the curriculum and take part in an actual lesson presented exactly as it would be given to the students. When I arrived at the school, I was surprised to discover only about a dozen parents there. As we waited for the presentation, I thumbed through page after page of instructions in the prevention of pregnancy or disease. I found abstinence mentioned only in passing. When the teacher arrived with the school nurse, she asked if there were any questions. I asked why abstinence did not play a noticeable part in the material. What happened next was shocking. There was a great deal of laughter, and someone suggested that if I thought abstinence had any merit, I should go back to burying my head in the sand. The teacher and the nurse said nothing as I drowned in a sea of embarrassment. My mind had gone blank, and I could think of nothing to say. The teacher explained to me that the job of the school was to teach "facts, " and the home was responsible for moral training. I sat in silence for the next 20 minutes as the course was explained. The other parents seemed to give their unqualified support to the materials. "Donuts, at the back, " announced the teacher during the break. "I'd like you to put on the name tags we have prepared-they're right by the donuts . . . and mingle with the other parents. "Everyone moved to the back of the room. As I watched them affixing their name tags and shaking hands, I sat deep in thought. I was ashamed that I had not been able to convince them to include a serious discussion of abstinence in the materials. I uttered a silent prayer for guidance. My thoughts were interrupted by the teacher's hand on my shoulder. "Won't you join the others, Mr. Layton?" The nurse smiled sweetly at me. "The donuts are good." "Thank you, no, " I replied. "Well, then, how about a name tag? I'm sure the others would like to meet you." "Somehow I doubt that, " I replied. "Won't you please join them?" she coaxed. Then I heard a still, small voice whisper, "Don't go." The instruction was unmistakable. "Don't go!" "I'll just wait here, " I said. When the class was called back to order, the teacher looked around the long table and thanked everyone for putting on name tags. She ignored me. Then she said, "Now we're going to give you the same lesson we'll be giving your children. Everyone please peel off your name tags." I watched in silence as the tags came off. "Now, then, on the back of one of the tags, I drew a tiny flower. Who has it, please?" The gentleman across from me held it up. "Here it is!" "All right, " she said. "The flower represents disease. Do you recall with whom you shook hands?" He pointed to a couple of people. "Very good, " she replied. "The handshake in this case represents intimacy. So the two people you had contact with now have the disease." There was laughter and joking among the parents. The teacher continued, "And whom did the two of you shake hands with?" The point was well taken, and she explained how this lesson would show students how quickly disease is spread. "Since we all shook hands, we all have the disease." It was then that I heard the still, small voice again. "Speak now," it said, "but be humble." I noted wryly the latter admonition, then rose from my chair. I apologized for any upset I might have caused earlier, congratulated the teacher on an excellent lesson that would impress the youth, and concluded by saying I had only one small point I wished to make. "Not all of us were infected, " I said. "One of us . . . abstained."
  2. The fact that people do not get saved by praying a prayer and those who practice sin are not backslidden but lost.

  4. Go here http://www.gerald285.com/view/?pageID=344717 and read about what the bible says. That is what matters, not someones opinion.
  5. While the bible does teach a young universe creation it does not answer the question about the stars and distance and how we can see them. However it would be logical to assume that at the creation the Lord made some exception in seeing the first light from the stars and today we see them due to this
  6. I would like to hear some views on the subject of impeachment. First let me tell you a little about me. I guess that I would be considered a hard core conservative. I voted for President George Bush. I do not believe in abortion for any reason. I do not believe in using stem cells from aborted babies or from embryos. I hold that there is only one way to heaven and that being repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I do not believe that a real Christian will return to practice sin, and thhat today only about 30 to 35% of those who claim to be saved really are. And I hold many more views of the same. I say all that so that no one thinks that I am a liberal against the now President from the start. But I do have a question. Looking at this nation and seeing what is being done to our rights makes me ask some questions. Should President Bush and or Vice president Chaney be impeached for crimes against the constitution? What are your views?
  7. Interesting replies. I see that most feel that porn is brought about when there is intent to draw some intention in a sensual or sexual manner. Does this mean then that most women who seek to draw attention to themselves by cleavage tight clothing or short dress' are promoting porn? Or if not when is a woman promoting self porn?
  8. The bible speaks of hell. However not everyone who claims to be a Christian believe in a literal hell. Some think that hell is for a time and others feel that hell is eternal. Here is a man that claims to have went to hell and describes it. *Edit video links*
  9. What constitutes porn? Is a picture of a naked woman on the net any different then the same picture in a medical book?
  10. A couple who checked into a recreational vehicle park with their 2-year-old foster son were told the boy couldn't use the showers, pool or other common areas because he has the HIV virus. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3355418...=1&GMA=true How would you handle this? Was the park owners correct? More important how would your church handle this or how do you hope that they handle this type of situation if the child's parents wanted to leave him/her in your church day care with other children? You can read the full story at the link above, but here is what the CDC says; The HIV virus is not transmitted through day-to-day activities such as shaking hands, hugging or a casual kiss, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Now here is my take on this. This disease while difficult to transmit still can be transmitted under certain circumstances such a cut and blood. Knowing how children play and interact If there is ANY possible way for another child to get this in daily contact then I would not want any child to be in direct contact with one who has HIV. This includes church day care and church nurseries. I don't even want my child in the same room with another child with a cold, much less one that has HIV! In my opinion it is totally selfish and uncaring for the health of others when any parent brings a child to be in contact with other children when there is ANY possibility of contacting that or any other disease! I feel that the park owners did correctly. I am not against making a separate place to handle such a child where there is no contact with others who do not already have this disease and allow anyone who wants to care for them to be allowed, but never in with the regular population of children. Like I said even if there is only one chance on a million I would not want them with my child in a day setting. How should the church deal with these things and does your church have a policy on such? What do you say?
  11. I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cellphone? What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets? What if we flipped through it several times a day? What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it? What if we used it to receive messages from the text? What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it? What if we gave it to our kids as gifts? What if we used it when we traveled? What if we used it in case of emergency? This is something to make you go....hmm....where IS my Bible? Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. And no dropped calls!
  12. First let me say that they are not God's children. We are born children of the devil, not God. What they are born with is an evil heart just like you and me. However they can repent just like you and me. The claim to be born in the wrong body is an attempt to coover up their sinfull hearts and activities. God is not deceived and you should not be either. As a matter of fact it is a command not to be deceived in this. 1Cr 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[fn1] nor sodomites,
  13. Yes that is true. All lifestyles are a choice. A person can choose to be a homosexual or a heterosexual. All homosexual behavior is a choice. No One ever makes them become a homosexual and they can refrain their temptations just like a heterosexual can. No exceptions! The only difference between someone who is a heterosexual and the homosexual is that heterosexual relations are ordained in scripture if married and all homosexual relations are sin no matter what and an abomination to God. ALL homosexual behavior is sin and an abomination to God. Well, I'll say it again... that's flawed logic. If it's a "choice" then everyone had to choose, meaning that we all had to choose to be straight as well.
  14. All homosexual activities is a choice. There is no such thing as being born homosexual.
  15. I think that most people have lost their ability to discern. The fact is that not all discrimination is wrong. We are to make certain judgements based on biblical standards if we are to be in accord with the teachings of the Lord.

New bill would gives special preference to homosexuals Call your representative today! A new bill, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), has been introduced in the House of Representatives by homosexual Congressman Barney Frank. ENDA would make it illegal to fire, refuse to hire or refuse to promote an employee based on his or her sexual orientation or "gender identity." 17. From the Protestant Church of Smyrna PT2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Church in Turkey responded in a way that honored God as hundreds of believers and dozens of pastors flew in as fast as they could to stand by the small church of Malatya and encourage the believers, take care of legal issues, and represent Christians to the media. When Susanne Tilman expressed her wish to bury her husband in Malatya, the Governor tried to stop it, and when he realized he could not stop it, a rumor was spread that
  18. Dear friends, This past week has been filled with much sorrow. Many of you have heard by now of our devastating loss here in an event that took place in Malatya, a Turkish province 300 miles northeast of Antioch, the city where believers were first called Christians (Acts 11:26). On Wednesday morning, April 18, 2007, 46 year old German missionary and father of three Tilman Geske prepared to go to his office, kissing his wife goodbye taking a moment to hug his son and give him the priceless memory,

  20. Is the united states truly ready to retry the dollar coin? "The mint will issue four presidential $1 coins per year through 2016. In 2008, four coins featuring the images of James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren are scheduled to be released." You guessed it 'IN GOD WE TRUST' IS GONE!!! If ever there was a reason to boycott something, THIS IS IT!!!! DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE. Together we can force them out of circulation.[ http://www.newjerusalemcommunity.net/?c=49&a=1830
  21. this is not really accurate. Isaiah, who was a prophet of God, said that "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags." This is a man of God speaking about himself and the other people of God! The "Good" you and I do every day is in fact evil, in and of itself. I disagree with the direction you are going with this. Oh yes, Ideally there "should not be" sin in any person's life, I think that is obvious, but ideally Adam and Eve would never have eaten from that tree....and lucifer would ideally have never rebelled against God... But even IF person sins ten times a day, or a hundred, does that mean they have any more of a "spiritual problem" than the next person? Is the degree of a person's "spiritual problem" defined by the number and type of sins they have or have no committed? Biblically the answer is "NO." The most righteous human being who ever lived, whoever in the world that may be, without Jesus, is still just another sinner. That's all. Doesn't matter if they were a "good" person and never so much as cursed or told a lie, if they aren't washed in the blood of Jesus they'll still go to hell right along side the most evil person who ever lived, because the issue is not one of surface problems, but is one of spiritual legal matters. Biblically, it does not matter whether a person is good, bad, or ugly, the only thing that can ransom their soul is faith in Jesus Christ's atoning blood. That's it. Faith without works is dead, but works without faith is vain. Hello WhySoBlind, you may disagree but you disagree with scripture (God). A person who in the practice of sin is lost, not saved so our daily lives of sin and righteousness does matter. John 3:9 is a good passage to look at. True believers will sin on occasion, but it is not a practice. This is why Jesus warned. many will say Lord! Lord! only to hear "I never knew you"> If there is the practice of sin in a person who claims salvation they had better reconsider and really get right.
  22. BOSTON (Reuters) - A federal judge in Boston has dismissed a suit by two families who wanted to stop a Massachusetts town and its public school system from teaching their children about gay marriage, court documents show. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070224/ts_nm/usa_gays_suit_dc
  23. hello Yahwehsdaughte, your statement is incorrect. When people sleep together they are not married. Scripture NEVER teaches that. If that were the case there would never be such a thing a fornication or adultry. marriage is a union (agreement between two people to live as man and wife under the bonds of God's guidelines. (forever) The type of ceremony is not spelled out in scripture so it is left to culture. At the time of Adam and Eve there was only God and them. This does not mean that we are free to simply move in together and calll it a marriage. The wooman at the well was told by jesus that the man she was with was not her husband, but that she had five before this one. So God does not simply accept so called common law marriages. That might be fine if two people are in some disereted place whhere there is no way too hold a common ceremony and they vow before God to be married before coming together in a sexual union, but other then that it would be fornication and sin.
