I think some who call themselves Christians take on the title because they like what God has to offer. But turn their hearts from what Christ commanded of us as believers because its hard work. They want to walk both sides but Christ will be the judge of their actions.

Great work bhakthi, the return of the Lord is in his hands not ours but when he returns and finds us doing what he has commanded of us then great is our rewards. The most blessed words that I desire to hear from the Lord...."well done my just and faithful servant".

I agree, though not rewarded for our own works, but that which we allow the Holy Spirit to do through us. These are the only works in our life that will stand the test of fire. Jesus not only brought the gift of life but he opened the doors to allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives achieving God's will for our life. Only that which glorifies God will be accepted by him, and only that which we do through the Holy Spirit will glorify God. Thats why its so important for us to seek the leadership of his Holy Spirit through his Word and through prayer to resist sin because its sin that quenches the Holy Spirit. But even when we do fall into sin and seek his forgiveness many times over, glory to God the blood Christ is sufficient, otherwise Christ would have died in vain.
