Shalom Alan, Of course it is always best to gather with brothers and sisters in worship, I said that in the OP. However, that is not always possible. Today is one of those days for me. But the point of this thread is that we are not dependent upon meeting with other people to meet with the L-rd! Some people don't realize this. I want to encourage people that it's the relationship that we have with Jesus, ONE-ON-ONE that is the most important. Corporate worship is no replacement for that. We can gather and we should whenever possible with the Body, but it's our relationship with Jesus individually that counts. And, it's not always possible to gather with other Believers and we needn't feel guilty or feel as if we cannot meet with the L-rd.

Shalom Y'all, Sometimes, we can't make it to church - sickness or other things. What is your favorite way to spend the time with Jesus when you can't gather with the Saints? This morning, my son and I watched our church ministry on TV and it was an AWESOME message. I also plan on spending time in the Word and in prayer. I miss the corporate worship - the music, the Word, the fellowship, but in the end, it is a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with Jesus that matters, n ot going to a curch, not singing in a choir, not even knocking on doors witnessing, but ONE-ON-ONE, face to face, spirit to spirit with Jesus. It's not about going to church. Going to church doesn't make us a Christian any more than going to McDonald's makes us a hamburger! How are we meeting with HIM today? One-on-One? I plan to! Are you?

IF you celebrate Christmas, what are you doing?

Shalom Patricia, If you go down to Jersey, be careful of the weather. I pray you have a safe trip and that your Christmas celebration is Jesus-filled! -

Shalom Joe, I'm sorry that you have to work on Christmas Eve, but I pray your time with your family is blessed and Jesus is glorified!! -
Shalom Emily-Anne, You hit the nail on the head. The message being said in opposition to the OP is that what Jesus did on the Cross, isn't GOOD enough. He needs MY help to complete it. That message IS offensive to His complete work on the Cross, for my sins.

Shalom EX, WOW, what a great illustration. Thank you. Amen Bro!!

Shalom, Thank you to those who responded in the true understanding of this thread, that Jesus LOVES us. We, as Christians MUST spread that truth, especially to those inside the church who have been "beat up" by Christians running around judging hearts and spewing out condemnation. This can drive Christians away from Jesus. We must NEVER be a stumbling block to anyone, sinner or saved sinner. If we speak to our brother or sister about something they do, it MUST be covered in G-d's grace, and never condemnation, as we see so often. And we must remember, that we too, are sinners, saved by grace and we are forgiven much and we are commanded to forgive much. Consider these words Jesus said about a woman with a sinful past: Luke 7:47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven

I think that is a very penetrating observation, one which I had not heard before, but one which I intend to remember and quote when appropriate. What non-Christians say about me seldom hurts, unless what they say is true, but anything negative or without love in the intention that Christians say about me is bound to wound me whether it is true or not, because I love my brothers and sisters. I did not read the statement to mean that all Christians shoot all wounded, God forbid. It is painful enough that some do. Shalom Stan, Thank you for your reply. Yes, the first time I heard the saying, I was floored. It really pierced my heart and you know, I've seen it really happen over and over and over again in the Body of Messiah. Sometimes Christians can forget that " there but for the grace of G-d, go I." And we are to forgive as we have been forgiven, love as we have been loved and be gracious as we have received grace. Thank you for your post Stan.

IF you celebrate Christmas, what are you doing?
Vickilynn replied to Vickilynn's topic in General Discussion
Shalom Candi, When I lived in Florida, I just had a hard time remembering it was Christmas! Sorry, but warm weather and palm trees make it hard to think CHRISTMAS! How do you celebrate the L-rd during Christmas? Do you have any special verses or teachings you share with your family? Special Scriptural traditions? -
Shalom Thaddaeus, Thanks for replying! Actually, I have said that several times. It appears to me that you haven't read the entire thread, have you? If you read ALL my posts, you'll see I am saying faith is what is needed for salvation and works is what we see from someone who is saved. The point of contention is the premise in several other threads that if a born-again Christian does not do works or they sin, they are not saved. This is where Ephesians 2:8 comes in. We are saved through faith by G-d's grace, not saved by works. BUT, there will be works if someone is truly born-again because our hearts are changed and we desire to walk in G-d's ways.

Shalom, This is NOT a debate Christmas thread! If you celebrate the Messiah's incarnation at Christmas, how are you celebrating? This year, our eldest son wasn't able to get a flight home for Christmas, so he came for my birthday, last week. So, he got here too late for Chanukkah and too early for Christmas, so we celebrated them ALL with him here! We opened ALL our presents and had a great time in the L-rd while our whole family was together. That's so neat because NOW, we got the presents out of the way, we are really having a great time celebrating Jesus! We are planning on going to our church on Christmas Eve for a candlelight and communion service. So great!! We'll have our big meal on Christmas Eve, for supper. Then on Christmas morning, we'll read Scripture, pray, sing and talk about the Messiah coming to Earth. We'll feast and rejoice in the L-rd. Then we'll watch THE NATIVITY on DVD. What are y'all doing to celebrate?

Shalom On, I have reported your repeated personal comments to the Mods. If you can't debate the issues instead of attacking the person, your comments aren't welcome in this thread.

Shalom Damo, What a lovely post! Thank you. I agree 100%. You know, this is a saying we have and it's SO true: Christians are the only ones that shoot their wounded!

Shalom On, You keep making these false allegations. You don't understand grace as the Bible states it. Please read the OP, there is no "hyper grace" there. You are making arguments against things that have NOT been raised. I understand grace as taught in the bible,it is you that is obviously confused. Shalom, You are wrong, period, like it or not. This thread has NO hyper grace in it, neither has anything I've posted, so you are confused, in error, whatever you want to call it, it's just plain wrong. Read what the Moderator had to say Dude. He said you were wrong. Maybe you'll accept it from him and stop making false accusations, because, if you read your Bible you should know that is a sin. But, by the grace of G-d, I forgive you. Mark 11 25And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

Shalom Cobalt, Exactly the point of this thread, thank you!!

Shalom CC, How can you ask the same question over and over, receive the answer and still not "get it." Please, read Bib's word study on what it REALLY means. It does not mean the faith is non-existent. It means the faith is not effective for rewards, NOT FOR SALVATION. Ephesians 2 makes it clear that there is nothing else required to be saved. Not works, nothing but faith because it is by grace, which is a free gift of G-d. This is the simple truth, and you cannot add any requirements to it, for G-d does not. Ephesians 2: 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

One of us must of been reading the thoughts of the other. See my latest in the thread 'We Don't Do It' On second thoughts, the Holy Spirit is talking to us. What wonderful news to know that Worthy Boards is in the mind of God. Shalom Stan, Amen and amen. We must take the Scriptures on judging and grace very seriously.

Shalom, Romans 3 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24) and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God

Be careful, you are now assigning motives to hearts and may be bearing false witness about this Ministry. Peace, Dave Shalom Dave, Amen, and people posting in this ministry.

Be careful, you are now assigning motives to hearts and may be bearing false witness about this Ministry. Peace, Dave I did not say this forum was teaching it nor that it was being taught by this forum, what I said is that it is being taught IN this forum. And there are those that main purpose it seems is,to come in here create threads to promote hyper grace such as vickilynn is doing with this thread. As well as in her ''Faith/works'' thread. Shalom On, You'd better be careful about making continued false allegations. My thread does not teach anything resembling hyper grace and if you think so, you do not understand what real Biblical grace is. Just remember, when you are so busy pointing a finger at someone else, there are THREE pointing back at you. Try some grace instead of condemnation.
-
Shalom Rufus, That said, it would be best if it were someone who KNOWS the person, knows their life, not judges (wrongly most times) them by words on a screen.
