  1. Willa, yes, he is saved.

He is now brain dead. According to his wishes, they are keeping him alive on life support long enough for his organs to be donated.

I thank God for the miracle of him being awake and coherent for him to reconcile with my mom and for family to be able to talk to him. Please pray for my family and for all the people who will receive his organs - that they will heal quickly and completely and that their experience will bring them closer to God.

Edited to add: My aunt is having an especially hard time going home. She says she is afraid of her own home. I don't know if the legal proceedings will prevent the balcony from being repaired properly so she can sell the home and move, but please pray for her to be able to make a clear decision about what she wants to do according to God's will.

  2. There are no changes. The swelling on the brain may require surgery. He has a quarter size bruise on his brain and the crack in his skull is several inches long. He is not responding to commands and does not open his eyes or speak; when they try to reduce the meds to measure his ability, he becomes very combative.

If there was a Psalms 31 man what would that look like? What do you think a Christian woman should look for in a future spouse?

A spouse that will love her like Christ loves the church... to lead, protect, and serve her... a husband doing that and a woman being the Proverbs 31 wife would inspire each other, with God's help and guidance, to be more and more those ideal spouses.

The fact remains that many women have been victimized by physical and verbal abuse.  We live in a fallen world, and not all husbands leave the managing of the household to the wife but are consumed with controlling their wives and children instead of encouraging them to develop their talents and become contributors to society.  They want to keep wives "barefoot and pregnant."   I do not promote woman's lib because it has gone too far in the opposite direction and promotes female domination as well as lesbians.  When women are loved as Christ loves the church and gave Himself for her, we become the Proverbs 31 woman.  We are loved, appreciated and valued.  And when women treat their husbands with the respect of 1 Peter 3, admiring them, honoring and obeying, their husbands become judges at the gates.  :)

But I always say, give me a household of servants to manage and I will get up before dawn to work.  Meanwhile, give me 3 cups of coffee and I might be able to function by 10 AM.:047:

I think the difference is whether an abused woman sees herself as a victim or a survivor.

  5. Sometimes when we feel God is being silent, it can cause us to make an effort to draw closer to Him. But if you are afraid to approach Him, you could still feel separated from Him. We can approach His throne of grace with confidence as His beloved child, knowing that nothing separates us from His love.

    Hebrews 4:16

16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

    Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I drink a lot of water.  I have one good strong cup of coffee (with a little half & half) in the morning then drink water the rest of the day.  I also like iced green tea.  I brew it in a pot on the stove then pour it into a pitcher and put it in the fridge.  I gave up drinking pop several years ago and I really, really missed having a fizzy drink.  I recently started drinking club soda and it's pretty good.  Then I discovered sparkling water that is flavored and now I am hooked on it.  It's basically club soda with natural flavoring, no artificial sweeteners or other added chemicals, just fizzy water and natural flavoring.  I LOVE IT!

FYI: Starbucks has a carbonated tea... Teavana® Sparkling Berry Sangria Herbal Tea

I used to always get New York Seltzers at the deli I worked at years ago, then couldn't find them anywhere. I recently found them at Von's. I do not like club soda, but I like those.

  7. YOU are never too far gone. YOU are never too damaged. YOU are never too broken. YOU are never too anything for God. YOU ARE LOVED!

    Romans 8

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  8. The ocean... whether it is sparkling with sunlight or glowing with moonlight. I love the sound of the waves, the smell of the salty air, and there's nothing like swimming in the ocean - peaceful and powerful at the same time.

The night sky. I love to drive up the mountain and just sit under the stars with a crisp breeze blowing while I sing and pray... seeing the twinkling stars and their slight color variations and witnessing a falling star. I also love seeing photos of space... nebulas, the earth from space, and millions of stars.

Gems. Created under varying conditions and elements, etc. producing endless colors... and yet, they can be overlooked... their potential missed (white, pink, and yellow diamonds, tanzanite, tsavorite, sapphires, tourmaline, morganite, rubies, etc.). Then, someone who knows their "worth," can make a cut here and there, polish them up, and they are brilliant. Kind of like what God does with us - each unique and the light enters them and they reflect it back.
