  1. I like this answer too
  2. Simple. Society today is skewed by cultural norms. TECHNICALLY you could become married by committing yourselves to eachother under the will of God, sans 4 course dinner and minister. However, in the time of Adam and Eve there was no such thing as ministers and the whole concept of a "wedding". Personally I like the whole wedding thing- I don't understand why a couple wouldn't want to publicly, and under God, commit themselves to eachother for life. I think it would be easier to have the whole thing fall apart without the legal documention. But i am entirely speaking of my own opinion. I agree...and i am also all for the wedding thing but especially the Jewish wedding. The Jewish wedding paints a beautiful picture of our salvation...
  3. I agree with all of you. My husband and I love the Jewish people. We have been wanting to go visit a Messianic Jewish service sometime. The Jewish people, even the ones that believe, still have to follow their rites because of them being Jewish. The only one I think that they don't have to is the sacrifice because obviosly Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. All the other things are usually a sign of belief. For example, circumcision was a sign of a covenant that God made with Abraham. Passover celebrates the coming of the Messiah and today they celebrate Jesus as the Passover Lamb. i hope I worded that ok. i am not good at putting my thoughts down on paper err words...I really enjoyed reading all of your posts...thanks
  4. You are welcome
  5. Thanks for posting this...I gave my life to Christ three years ago. I was set free from drugs, alcohol, broken relationships, and so much more....
  6. I have had these same questions. Why would God let my aunt die from a bullet when I have heard testimonies from other people about how their life was saved when being shot at that the bullet never touched them. Or why wouldn't God just set my mom free from alcoholism when others got free with no problem at all. I mean she is now free and sober, but back then it was really hard to trust God. I have come to the conclusion that I am not sure why certain things happen. All I know is that God says in His Word that all work out for the good of those that love Him. We may never know what that good is or it may seem so unfair, but God wants us to trust him even in the dark times. I am so sorry about your sister, and if I knew you and was there I would give you a big hug. I know what it is like to go through those times. i am having a personal time with that now. I have had an STD for over three years now. I love God and gave my life to Him three years ago. I have heard numerous testimonies about people being healed. WHy am I still stuck with it? I don't know but I do trust God at His Word. I am not sure if this is the right timing, but if you go to pastors website that is listed in my name, he has a sermon called Peter's shadow that really uplifted me. It is under the sermon podcasts. Maybe it will minister to you. I am praying for you...
  7. Amen
  8. Also, something that I do on a daily basis is ask God to let me see people through the eyes of Jesus. Let me love them with His love...it is amazing how your outlook at people changes...
  9. He is always faithful and I praise him that he responds when I ask for him to pour out a fresh renewal of his Spirit upon my heart each morning when I kneel down. Yes...sharing his love with people is so important...And I also love his fresh outpourings of His Spirit...Amen
  10. An opinion we share...hmmm...shocking... [/quote You mean you've never agreed with me before? Don't worry, I don't bite! I was actually being very facetious. I'm new to the boards, and have enjoyed it so far. I like the discussions. thats ok, it aint about feelings, the religious leaders didn't have a good feeling about Christ or His followers either, nor did they about John who proceeded Him.... who does the healing???? HINN or GOD???? why do so many people get down on HINN.... Hinn does not take the Glory, people try to give him the glory.... are we to say that God is not working through Hinn? and that every thing that happens that Mr. Hinn does is not of God? isn't that taking the credit from the Holy Spirit? we have to be careful when we are talking (gossipping) about a fellow brother or sister in Christ..... i am not saying i agree or disagree with anything he does, just stating a point.... as long as he is following the Word of God, and following what God has set before him, then he has no problems.... how do we know he is not following exactly to the letter what God has told him to do....... do we spend as much time in prayer and worship as Mr. Hinn???????? probably not as much in a month as he does in a day.... mike I remember as a kid my mom had us kids go to a catholic church with her friend. I was AofG and when I got to this church, I was shocked right off my feet to see them speaking in tongues and the like....I agree that our precious Holy Spirit does cross over into other denominations...He will not refuse anyone who is willing to receive Him...Praise God for the move inside the Catholic church!!!!!
  11. He is a great God...I love the Psalms...
  12. I don't think that drinking in moderation is ok. But if there is a history in a person's life of alcoholism, I would not drink. I used to be a drug addict and alcoholic. I would not drink now because I know that I can't control it. I have tried since becoming a Christian. I get caught up in the reasons why I used to drink. But then you have to ask the question what kind of witness that is putting off to others. Sure, you might not think it is sin to drink socially, but many non-believers will condemn you the minute they see you pick up a drink. They may not know that you only drink socially. What is more important, Not being a stumbling block? or having that occasional drink? Just my views.
  13. I will...I just can't get a hold of him yet...He also is the co-partner of a business and he is extremely busy right now with tax season.... No problem, take your time. I'm here a lot. yeah..i really like this forum...i like the open discussions Just dont believe everything you read. Research it yourself and look in the Bible for answers. A lot of people like to quote out of context which causes confusion. BTW, We like having you here. Definately...I look everything I hear up...and things that I am unsure about, i will take those scriptures to my pastor and ask what he believes and then i will compare with what he said with the Bible...

  16. I was praying the other day and God spoke to my heart about how many times we go through the day and don't even give God a second thought...or even take time to thank Him for what He has done for us that day. It is now my goal at the end of each day to reflect back and thank God for all He has done for me that day and take time to thank Him to. So, today He saved me from getting into an accident during this blizzard. I slid on ice while i was going across a bridge. I am really grateful to have not gotten hurt. What has God done for some of you today?
  17. amen...we really unity to come to the body of Christ... i think that sometimes on the internet it is hard because you don't see facial expressions and it is so easy to misinterpret something like me...or then again you have some dummy like me that is not good at putting their thoughts into words....thanks for sharing...
