  1. I know it's not only because of bad parenting, but none the less nothing will convince me that here is such a thing as ADHD/ADD I have friends who were diagnosed with the disorders and I have cured them. I have taught them ways to overcome the lack of discipline in them. I know it's not only that but it is in the majority of people who were diagnosed that I have met.
  2. i find your assumption both lacking in knowledge and lacking in tact. my daughter is ADHD. i have NEVER medicated her for it, although after the birth of her son, she briefly went on medication (til i informed her that she was taking legal speed, at which point she promptly quit). she is also OCD. she was not unruly, she was not ill behaved, and she was not poorly parented. she simply had difficulty with concentration because her mind was constantly in fast-forward. That's not necessarily a problem with her though but more so society. Everything is fast paced now. Classrooms go by slowly. I am an A student but I find it hard to concentrate in class. We live in a fast-forward culture. If your mind is fast-forward in a fast-forward culture than your mind is going at normal speed. Part of my dislike of it is the fact that I don't think any drugs should ever be used to influence action or brain patterns. To me it's anti God and something about it sends chills up my spine....OCD is a disorder I also don't think should be medicated because of the fact that almost everyone has it.
  3. I agree with Lady C, and though the law says that we have the Freedom to congregate you know first amendment stuff I must say that the Christian thing to do would be to obey and go somewhere quieter. Praying is communication with GOD! That's important. He created us, he is the biggest thing in our lives. We could at least make some sanctity out of it. They should have showed love and heeded the words of their superiors. now we do not know all the factors. We only know what the media has told us. but based on what the media has told us it seems that the punishment was fair.
  4. I don't believe ADD/ADHD even exist. It's a result of poor discipline and lack of parental control. Every person I know who has been diagnosed with the "disorder" I have cured, or is merely hyper. To me it's like an exscuse for parents to get away with bad parenting. And an exscuse for doctors to give people drugs.
  5. oh well see at my school which is what I base my opinion on is that if your in the middle of a hallway doing anything your asked to move. We have 700 kids traversing the halls, and a group standing around for whatever reason is a disruption. I know that my friend's school does that as well and he goes to a public school. His school has 2000 students. They cannot have people standing in the middle of the hall. If you are asked to move it is because of disruption (at least it is where i come from) otherwise people just leave you alone.
  6. it's ok. Um ovedya I remember you said that based on what I was saying the Bible is not necessary, but I didn't mean that. The Bible is a framework for which all beliefs, and all spiritual things claiming goodness should fit into. It should never be ousted, never be misused, and never ever be denied it's holiness. However, as I was saying about the whole women thing that was cultural. Part of taking the Bible in context is to look at the culture. For instance, old jewish law like in Leviticus, were laws meant for the Israelites at that time. they are useful for our understanding of the culture of the Jewish people, and also to help understand the purpose of the Bible which is a story of God's love. When you look at the culture of the time in the Bible you realize all the symbolism that is in the Bible that we don't normally see because we have a different culture.
  7. I am half half on the issue. They do have the right to pray anywhere they please, BUT after being asked to move they should have. It's not that they were being discriminated against, but that they were in the way. They could have found an empty classroom or something. They could have gone somewhere else, but being in a High School Hallway is a bit ridiculous. I go to a Christian High School, and we have very busy busy hallways and we don't have as many students as there may be in a public school. I could easily see how students at my school would get detention for being in the middle of the hall just for prayer. There are a plethara of other not in the way places. I understand that they were being lights for Christ, but I consider prayer sacred, and somehow the middle of a hallway in a public school doesn't seem fit to communicate with the Holy of Holies, but hey that's just me. 8. PETA is violent and unruly nowadays. God said, " Call Nothing the Lord hath made unclean."
