I thought that the Hebrew phonetic spelling of the word "spirit" was nesh-aw-maw' (N@shamah) -
I am just glad that we have something to report to us what our Savior did for us and the history of the family of God. Remember what John said about the account of the Gospel? I suppose if I were to write about everything that Jesus did, there wouldn't be enough books or pages in all the world to recount the stories. If that is the case with only four books of the Bible, what of the other sixty-two? There is so much that we don't know. We have a guide in the Bible to at least know something of our Spiritual history and newly-made historical relatives. I believe that we just listen to what Jesus told us to do because that pertains to our society and age most effectively. One of the most important things He desires of us is to be one as He and the Father (and Spirit) are one.

I truly believe that in the Roman Times, in that culture and age, people were so much more tough and stronger than we are in this day and age. We, as Americans, are so lazy. Sure, we have intelligence, but each decade it just makes us lazier and weaker. Look at the ancient times war movies like Gladiator, Troy, Lord of the Rings, etc., people do everything with their hands, carrying, walking, in heat, in cold, through storms, up mountains, through canyons, rivers, and everything that we would call "roughing it." Our version of "roughing it" would be a vacation for them. That is why we can't even fathom the pain, agony, and sacrifice of Christ. We have been trained to be lazy and weak by this society and what is viewed as coshure or marketable by Hollywood. Think about it, even in the roughest of societies, they couldn't even fathom the pain, sacrifice, agony, and ridicule that Christ went through. What of us?

Texas the unlikely home of biggest gay church

That is quite an interesting post Floatingaxe. I remember my mom telling me something that we must be careful that we are not led by the devil instead of Christ. We must be in prayer, fellowship, and worship in order to discern the path upon which we are being led; God's or the devil's. When we submit to his authority, we trust Him to guide us and, if we are on the wrong path, He will deliver us. Also, a friend of mine told me that if we decide to have premarital sex, we have decided that the woman is before God in our lives. If we have sex with the same gender, we have no need of God in our lives. A sobering thought. -

alone and depressed
radames422 replied to juspasnthru003's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
I know what you guys mean when you say you feel alone and depressed. It is so tough to be alone in a society that supports extroverted activities. We all need to find ways to connect with others who feel lonely too. I think that going to this forum helps. Maybe you can find someone who lives in the same area. -
I received the gift of tongues in college when a speaker came to my campus group and gave a sermon. After hearing the message, we interceded for the campus and he began to pray for everyone in the congregation. Someone started speaking in tongues as the Spirit moved, then another, and then another. There truly was a thick presence of glory in that room. I never received the gift that night and asked one of my friends who had received it what had happened to them. They told me that they just started praying and the words didn't make sense to them but started flowing from deep inside their belly. I prayed over it for a few days and just a had a revelation of it during, of all places, my choir rehearsal. I started speaking words from my heart that made no sense and felt a strong presence of the Holy Spirit. I can't explain it. It just happened. There have been other moments when I had a word of wisdom and knowledge for someone. That happens more often. Regardless, it helps your own personal walk with Christ. It is a private gift, other than the gift of prophecy which is very outward and encourages others.

I believe that it is for this reason (arguing) that Christ wanted Adam and Eve to avoid the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, it takes us away from the simplicity and childlike understanding of His Gospel and Person. Why do so many want to be right? Why are so many scared of being wrong? The fact of the matter is that we all will be given Heavenly and "New Earthly" duties for, probably, another society of people to know about the sacrifice or our Lord and how He defeated His enemy while we spread the Word about His awesome sacrifice. Read Ecclesiastes. This life only lasts, maybe, 80 years. Perhaps closer to 90 years because of enhanced health possibilities. No matter if we are pre, mid, or post, we all WIN!!! It will only last a bit of time and then EVERYTHING WILL BE NEW!!! I am ready for all the scenarios because I know "when we are weak, He is strong" and we "don't have to worry about what to say in those days because the Spirit will speak for us." The only thing that matters about what I believe is that Jesus lives in my heart and is not going anywhere and that goes for everyone in here.
