  1. George's post in Torah? was marked as the answer
Typically, A Torah is a scroll that was a compilation of the first 5 books of the Bible.
However, if you are referring to Torah as the instructions for God to the world -- as some people may refer there's obvious differences.
But in most circles -- a torah is simply the 1st five books of the Bible written and there is no "such thing" as a Christian "torah scroll".

Probably a timeout issue.  If you are posting a long reply, I suggest using WordPad or Word and copying and pasting what you wrote from Word to the forums.  I've not seen the issue, but generally I don't post long replies because in my experience the longer the reply -- the less it is read.  I usually break up long replies into 3 or 4 posts so that it's entirely read.
  4. George's post in Are We Considered Saints or Disciples? was marked as the answer
    Shalom Christian Girl,
So glad to see you around.  The question you ask, I don't think has to be answered as an either / or, but rather two distinct titles that are given to those who follow Jesus.
In the ancient times, you would have a Rabbi, and his "talmudim" or his "disciples" and they would study under a Rabbi learning all of his teachings or sayings.  For example, when we think of the Sermon on the Mount, many think this was given one time -- but in all reality, it probably was the main teaching of Jesus and was given dozens, if not hundreds of times.  So his "disciples" were called to learn the teachings of their rabbi.  So a disciple in a sense from the ancient Hebraic understanding is one who studies the teachings of their rabbi and follows them so the emphasis of a disciple is learning.
A saint on the other hand, is one that is "holy" or that is "set apart".  It comes from the Greek word -- Hagios which means Holy and the emphasis of being a "saint" is holiness.
In reality, we should be both a "disciple" or one that is always learning from our Rabbi (Yeshua - Jesus) and a "Saint", one that is separated and holy for His name's sake.

As a pastor, I run into this quite a bit.  I'm reminded of the words Jesus gave to the church in Ephesus.
Rev 2:3  I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.
Rev 2:4  But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Rev 2:5  Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Many of the reasons why we lose our love is that we've allowed bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, fear, and all the deadly D's to overwhelm us.  The Deadly D's as I call them, Dispair, Discouragement, Disillusionment, Disgust, Depression, which finally leads to Death.
To return back to your joy -- you need to go back to the basics of the faith.  Just start praying, fasting, reading the Word!  Ask the Lord to search you deeply, and thoroughly -- pray for and EXPECT God to bring revival within yourself!
There's obviously more to this ... but this is a start!
Your brother in the Lord with much agape love,
    George
  6. George's post in The Blood of Jesus was marked as the answer
The understanding of pleading the blood really has to an understanding of a court case being decided before a Judge.
We have an adversary who's warring against us -- the accuser of the brethren --
Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
He's bringing accusations, slander, and trying to find fault in our lives.
Thus we have an advocate who is our defense lawyer.
1 John 2:1  My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Remember we're warring with the enemy night and day, and FREEDOM ONLY COMES when you WALK IN IT!  If you don't assert your victory, or your freedom in Jesus -- you will not fulfill your calling to live a life of victory and power!
Luke 10:19-20  Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.  Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
When someone pleads the blood -- they are in essence claiming FREEDOM and DELIVERANCE from the power of the enemy over their lives -- because we have that AUTHORITY in His Name!
In essence, you are declaring to every demonic power -- My sin is covered by the blood of the lamb -- I'm made righteous by the blood of Jesus -- and I'm declaring His victory over every power of darkness in His Name!
This is my understanding of when I plead the blood of Jesus.  I'm declaring I will walk in His victory -- in His blood -- in power of forgiveness in His blood -- in His righteousness -- because He's called me to be FREE!
Your brother in the Lord with much agape love,
    George

We changed the Q & A section, as improvements have been made to our software which allows people to vote up or down answers that have been submitted.   And once an answer has been satisfied, we can mark it as answered.  However, if someone comes along and gives a better answer -- we can also unset the 'answer' in lieu of a better answer!
  9. George's post in Is Jesus just a good moral teacher? Or is He more? was marked as the answer
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

  10. George's post in Is it Biblical to Worship the Holy Spirit? was marked as the answer
The first question you have to ask yourself about the Holy Spirit -- who is He?  He is a divine person!  He is not only the Being that imparts truth, but illuminates our mind to understanding who He is.   He wants to reveal Himself, and the entirety of who God is to us.   He was instrumental in the creation of the world,   Genesis 1:2  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.   The Spirit of God reveals who He is, who the Son is, and who the Father is!    John 15:26  "But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.   1 Corinthians 2:10-13  these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.  And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.    We read how the Spirit of God is not some kind of "power we can wield", but rather a Divine Person who uses us according to His will and imparts gifts for us to use to accomplish God's purposes!   1 Corinthians 12:8-11 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,  to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.  All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.    We read how the Spirit of God searches the mind of God and makes intercession for us!   Romans 8:26-27  Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.   And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.    The Spirit of God loves us just as a divine being.   Romans 15:30  I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,    Just as anyone can, the Holy Spirit can be hurt and grieved by our actions.     Ephesians 4:30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.    It's the Spirit of God that shows us that we're adopted into the Kingdom!   Galatians 4:6  And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"    Romans 8:14-16  For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,    He is our Teacher!   John 14:26  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.   The Spirit of God directs His ministers as to how to lead the body of Messiah!   Acts 13:2  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."  Acts 16:6-7  And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.   So often believers will praise God and thank the Father for sending us His Son.  And we thank Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins.  But I suggest we also ought to worship the Spirit of God for patiently drawing us to Himself, being our guide, our teacher, our friend who makes intercession for us.  For the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person whom we ought to worship, for the Father is looking for "true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."   Your brother in the Lord with much agape love,   George
  11. George's post in Did Jesus Christ go to hell between His death and resurrection? was marked as the answer
Did Jesus go to lead captivity captured?

The time frame between the cross and the resurrection was 3 days.  At the point when Jesus died on the Cross, the Bible speaks of Him going to lead "captivity captive".  We know from the parable of Lazarus, and the rich man, that there was a great gulf between paradise and the rich man in torments.  We also know that Lazarus was found in "Abraham's bosom."

Luke 16:19-28  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.   But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.  Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.    So what happened?   The Bible clearly says that Jesus went to the "prison" to preach --    1 Peter 3:19-20  By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;  Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.    He openly triumphed over the powers of darkness by the power of the cross!   Colossians 2:14-15  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.    Thus fulfilling the scripture,   Psalms 68:18  Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.    So we see the "results" of his proclaiming victory over the power of darkness, nailing every sin of the "saints" at the cross, and we see that AFTER the resurrection, we see that the "Spirits" of the saints were walking around in Jerusalem.   Matthew 27:52-53  And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.    Yes, Jesus went to lead the saints out of "Abraham's Bosom", proclaiming victory over the powers of darkness, grabbing the keys of hell and death -- and its final culmination coming at the time of His resurrection.   Thus the reason the Apostles included this aspect of descending into "hell" in their creed.   Portion of the Apostles creed: Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell:The third day he rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
I hope this answer the question adequately.   God bless,   George
  12. George's post in Armageddon Is Ancient History Not Future Events? was marked as the answer
    Shalom Judah,

There's many different thought processes, and you'll find "many" different "interpretations" of the book of Revelation.  However, I wouldn't base any "doctrinal" positions based on an article in CNN!

The book of Revelation begins and ends with the "revelation" of Jesus!

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:    Rev 22:16  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.  Rev 22:17  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.    So the question I would ask -- is not are you ready for the "apocalypse" but rather -- are you ready to see the revelation of Jesus Christ?   Your brother in the Lord with much agape love,   George
