The Lion King: If you ever come near my son again I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. Matthew 16:18 SCENE SYNOPSIS: Simba got himself into heaps of trouble when he decided to take Nala and go visit the elephant graveyard, even after specific orders not to. Even though he was told not to go in there, when Mufasa realized he was in trouble- he came to his rescue, despite his disobedience. So many times, we go off and do our own thing- despite God telling us differently. We get ourselves into all kinds of precarious situations, and we need him to help us. We may stray off the path, but he loves us regardless. He will protect us, and we need to rely on him. Even when we are disobedient, he still has a perfect plan for our life. He wants us to strive for perfection, even though we will never achieve it. God tells us in Matthew 16:18, that if we build our house upon the rock- the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. Jesus is our chief cornerstone (1 Corinthians 3:10-11) and in him we have a firm foundation. (Ephesians 2:20) With putting our full trust in him, we believe in him to take care of us. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.- 2 John 1:6 Love and obedience go hand in hand. If a child loves their parent, they will obey. Likewise; if we love God- we will want to obey him. Not for the sake of obedience, but because we love him. We know he has our best interest in mind, and we have that foundation of trust. Question: Do you have trouble obeying God, even when you are in danger? I know i do!

The Lion King Biblical Analogy, Part 2 (Psalm 91:11-12)
Hawkeye posted a topic in General Discussion
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11-12 SCENE SYNOPSIS: Simba comes up to Nala when she is with her mom and Sarabi (Simba’s Mom). He wants to tell her about this “really cool place” that he found (referring to the elephant graveyard). Nala is in the middle of getting a bath, but her mom and Simba’s mom agree they are able to go. The only catch is, that Zazu has to go with them. Zazu is the King’s servant who was charged with watching over the two young lion cubs. As we see in this scene, there has been a guardian sent out ahead of Simba and Nala. They are incapable of taking care of and protecting themselves, because they are so little. Many times, we as Christians are weak in our faith. We are unable to stand on our own, and we make some really bad choices from time to time. God will send angels to protect us, guide us and help us. We see in The Bible many times over that angels are sent to minister. (Hebrews 1:14) Likewise, when Jesus was tempted in the desert (Luke 4), the angels came and ministered to him afterwards. Not only does God promise to meet our needs (Philippians 4:13), he promises to protect us. However, we have to do our part. If we remove ourselves out of his protection, it is no longer guaranteed. His perfect will is that we live out his desire for our life and fulfill his wishes. In doing this, we remain in his protective and perfect will. Discussion Questions: 1) Do you see yourself right now, at this point in your life being in his will? Why or why not? 2) Have you ever encountered his protection (physical or mental or spiritual) that you want to share?- 2 replies

I will make first a disclaimer. I have always found parallels in The Lion King for the Bible/Christian Life. Now I know some would disagree, that's OK. These are just my thoughts & interpretations. The Lion King: A King is Born But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11 SCENE SYNOPSIS: Simba has just been recently born, and Rafiki approaches Pride Rock. His goal is to present Simba to the kingdom, so that they can bow down and worship the newborn king. So many times, we want to only focus on Jesus at Christmas. While we know that Christmas is a time to celebrate his birth, every day should be a celebration. What do we know? We know that Jesus was born of a virgin Mary, and that he was blameless and perfect. As we see in this scene, the entire kingdom turned out to worship him. They knew that one day, he would be their king.. and they had better start worshiping and bowing down to him. The Bible tells us in Romans 14:11 that “Every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord”. This is a powerful sentiment, and one not to be taken lightly. Not only does God tell us that one day, everyone will worship him. He commands Christians to worship him on an ongoing basis. (Psalm 95:6; Romans 12:1; John 4:23). In fact, he also tells us in his word- that if we do not worship our King, the rocks will cry out in our place. (Luke 19:40) To worship God, every day should be our primary focus. We worship him through reading his Word, spending time with him, praying to him, helping others, being a light, evangelizing and more.
