They can keep her in protective custody until she turns 18 ... Or, they can assist her in getting a job and suitable housing and emancipate her.... Praying for this young woman. I have found last night that it is a good possibility that neither the girl nor her family are US citizens. I am not sure how much of the Ohio law would apply. If it does there are only 2 ways to be emancipated in the state of Ohio. Either your parents sign and allow you to get married, or they sign and allow you to join the military. I am still perplexed as to how they have been here so long if what I was told is true, and they only came here when the girls was 8 for medical treatment for an eye condition. For some of you hoping she stays down there let me throw out some ideas. Look at this from the parents perspective. She up and disappeared. No warning, just gone one day. It was all over the news up here. they discover she is with a man she met on facebook. I can see them being petrified. I don't know much factually about this case, and I will also not jump to any conclusions about it. I would rather leave this in Gods hands at this point, because honestly none of us know what has really happened.

Here - I found a copy of the broadcast - you can see the video and judge for yourself. http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2009/August/...Christian-Girl/ Edit: had an older report up, this was the actual one I saw - or not, it still didn't show her final statement . . . grrrr. Edit 2: OK - I found a link that shows her plea in its entirety. http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/newsextra/2009/...Emotional-Plea/ ~~~~ My thoughts: I saw and heard her saying those words that were reprinted, but as she said them she did indeed looked and sounded frightened and on the verge of tears and full of passion. She related how she had to pray and worship to Jesus in secret, how she had to hide her Bible from her father. And she really cried as she said, "I just want to be free to worship Jesus." It broke my heart. How often do you hear . . . any of us . . . talk like that? Edited August 15, 2009 by nebula
