I like the NKJV, the KJV and the NASB, with the NKJV being my personal favorite.

NRSV is my favorite version but king James is really beautiful and the version I memorized scripture from as a little tike.

I think we all have varied choices, but as I have been thinking about it, what we are really looking for is any translation that is near the original as possible, and that we find clarifies the revelation that G-d has placed in the hands of men. Some are best for readability and a broad sweeping overview, but cannot be used for serious study, others incorporate meticulous research and scholarly input with the latest available discoveries of nuances in language and idiom etc. My favourite New Testament translation remains the Orthodox B'rit Hadasha, as the way it is written also includes hebrew and yiddish, and somehow conveys a reminder of to whom it was originally written, and some of the common language and expressions that have been used and adapted over the years. I also like Sterns translations and commentaries.
