Seven Swords

Fervens was rushing over leagues of land, as if flying, but even faster than a bird on the wind. He rushed over the great circle, over game trails he had many times followed and hunted by, up the mountain of fire, climbing over expanses that he had not dared to climb for fear of no return to the ground, and went above the mountain and hovered there for a second. Then he dove toward a cave that seemed to have been revealed to him, for he had not seen this cave before. It was blocked by a solid wall of rock that Fervens knew he could not breach even if he spent months trying to break it. But even so, he rushed at the wall with the speed of a flying spear. Instinct told him to throw up his arms and protect himself, but somehow Fervens suppressed his feeling of certain death and felt a certain peace about this suicide path. He sped toward the wall, and passed through it. Fervens felt surprise and excitement in the back of his mind, but he had something he had to do, some greater purpose for why he was here.

He went down a winding path after entering a small opening at the beginning of the cave, a seemingly endless turning maze that offered many paths that led to nowhere. Fervens was sure of his path, and took the way and each turn with growing confidence. He ended up in a huge cavern of stone, a natural made city of rock that had not been disturbed by anyone for a long time. He looked around this great expanse, his eyes ending their search in the direct middle of the cavern, to see a great sword covered in blue flame. The flame writhed around the hilt as if wishing to escape and burn freely, to burn the entire world to ashes. Fervens could not take his gaze from the sword, though he only knew this in his mind, for he did not even try to look away. The flaming sword was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in a weapon. It burned with an intensity in the flame that went past his knowledge and understanding. It seemed to bear the authority of fire itself.

Then the flames grew bigger, and a booming voice came from the flame, sounding like a crackling fire.
