Seven Swords

Fervens was rushing over leagues of land, as if flying, but even faster than a bird on the wind. He rushed over the great circle, over game trails he had many times followed and hunted by, up the mountain of fire, climbing over expanses that he had not dared to climb for fear of no return, and went above the mountain and hovered there for a split second. Then he dove toward a ledge that seemed to have been just revealed, for he had not seen this ledge before. It was small, about two feet in length away from the mountain. It seemed to be cut out of the mountain, though next to the ledge was a solid wall of black rock. Even though it looked solid, Fervens rushed at the wall with the speed of a horses sprint. Instinct told him to throw up his arms and protect himself, but somehow Fervens suppressed the feeling. He sped toward the wall, and passed through it. He felt surprise and excitement in the back of his mind, but the purpose for why he was here overrode the excitement.

Winding down a series of paths after entering a small opening at the beginning of what looked like a small cave just beyond the wall, the path to the somewhere looked to be a seemingly endless turning maze. Fervens was sure of his own path, though he did not know how, and took each turn with growing confidence. He ended up in a huge cavern of stone, a natural made city of rock that had not been disturbed by anyone for a long time. All of this came to his mind, as if he could feel everything around him. He looked around this great expanse, raising his head to the spikes on top of the cave, and looking down to the seemingly smooth floor. His eyes ended their search in the direct middle of the cavern, to see a great sword stuck in the ground, hilt up, covered in blue flame. The flame writhed around the hilt as if wishing to escape and burn freely, to burn the entire world to ashes. The hilt was made with a common grip, but the end caught his attention, for it was the symbol on the elders circle that was engraved on the small red gem at the end. Fervens knew he could not take his gaze from the sword, though only by thought, for he did not even try to look away. The flaming sword was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in a weapon. It burned with a presence and intensity in the flame that went past his knowledge and understanding. It seemed to bear the authority of fire itself.

Then the flames grew bigger, growing to almost cover the hilt. The symbol on the gem seemed to glow. A booming voice came from the flame, sounding like a crackling fire spitting sparks.

Hey -

I remember seeing this before.

Did you change something? If so what?

(Oh, and it does sound like an interesting story!)
