He knew that he needed to hear the voice of the Lord, and was no longer hearing it. These days, people don't even know or recognise that they need to hear the voice of the Lord. Very sad. He knew that he needed to hear the voice of the Lord, and was no longer hearing it. These days, people don't even know or recognise that they need to hear the voice of the Lord. Very sad. what if you try and don't hear? Then I suggest immersing ones self in the bible, because we KNOW that is His Word. And if we struggle to make sense of it or to hear the message for us within those pages, that we sit at the feet of a trusted teacher and mentor and let them speak to us from the Word. Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. When I was a brand new christian, I struggled very much with what it meant to "hear" God. I had a mentor who was taking me through the initial discipleship stuff, and she grabbed a bible and started read. That voice you hear in the Word, is the voice you are listening for in prayer. We get to know it by reading the Word, and it is familiar to us in prayer. We have today something Saul didn't have, the complete Word of God, available to us all the time. We can take it in our hands and read it out loud and hear what the Lord has to say.

Very sad. what if you try and don't hear? Well, in my case, the problem with me was that I did not know the Bible very well. And because I did not know the Bible, I could not discern his voice or methods of how he speaks to us. He doesn't just come in a voice, but also in signs, in unexpected situations, dreams, visions, a friends rebuke.. many ways of communication. If your are in the sames shoes I was in, I say, read the Bible more and know it better.. that's the best way we can recognize His voice.
