The two killers had been allowed to watch horror films and were " acting out " one of them. They were known trouble makers but had NO parental guidance from home, they were worse than "feral kids " as they saw things no child should ever see..... When they were caught and sent to juvanile prison they had every luxury they could be given. private education, all the latest computer games etc and for the first time in their lives thed had people who fed them and tried to make them feel good about themselves. Their parents and siblings were given new identities and moved to a new part of the country so they didnt have to worry about attacks. The two of them were released from juvenile detention as soon as they became 18 ( the law doesnt allow them to be kept in prison for a crime committed when they are children unless they are mentally disturbed ). They too were given new identities, found jobs , given homes and all the help they could have ( unlike children leaving care who have been placed there for no fault of their own ). What it appears they were NOT given were lessons on the morality of what they had done ( they have never been expected to face up to theior actions as it may have disturbed them ) The ONLY people who have NOT recieved help are the parents of the child who was murdered. They split up within 2 years as the anger and frustration got too much for them ( the mum has since remarried and has a new family ) They had police liason with them during the hunt for the baby and during the trial then they were expected to " get over it and get on with life " . Since being returned to prison ( and he only got sent back because most of the images he was selling were of the MOST vile catagory ) Venables has lived a life of luxury again. He has had his own appartments ...they had to close a staff lounge to turn it into a games room for him as he wasnt allowed to mix with other prisoners ) He is allwoed to order any take away food he wants, has his own lare screen tv and all the channels he wants as he complianed that he didnt have enough variety and he was bored In order for him to take some excersise he had his own mini gym built for him but he refuses to use it and has had to be put on a diet after gaining over 4 stome gorging on sweets and junk food.
