Blien, the House votes on all of the funding of any program.

If Obama wants to veto the repeal of Obamacare, which is likely, they will just defund the portions of it that are enacted and soon to be enacted. This will in essence leave them in force but unable to be enforced.

This win was no small thing in American Electoral History. It's is the biggest swing in voter sentiment in like 50 some years. It is a repudiation of the Socialist Leftist agenda that is the Obama Administration. The biggest part of the victory and one of the number 1 issues was Obamacare. People here do not like it. The Dems forced it down our throats despite what the public was saying about it. They did so in a tricky procedural vote that left many Americans angry. Meanwhile, the economy continued to falter and people have lost their jobs. The first issue on folks minds here was the economy, the second was Obamacare, and the third was spending or the massive defecit run up under Obama.

People understand that Obamacare is not helping anything and will make things alot worse. Next up was Cap & Trade and Illegal Immigration policies from the Left. America just hit tthe brakes on that nonsense. Folks are more outraged about Arizona than the Lefty's know. Arizona voted on a local issue and sought to deal with a problem that affected them daily. The Obama Admin sued them for it. People do not like that.

P.S. The House Progressives were responsible for the current recession were in. It started because they used Government run agencies (Freddie Mac and Fannie May) since the 70's as a vehicle for a leftist policy of affordable housing. The banks made loans to people who could not afford them at the force and backing of these Federal agencies. When these loans were'nt sustainable and as soon as the economy slumped and people who were barely making it folded. Those who couldn't really afford those houses found themselves unable to retain them. This caused the banking crash. Barney Frank presided over this. So did Chris Dodd a former House Dem. Back during the Bush Admin when this was brought to Franks attention he stated that it wasn't a problem. Bush actually raised the alarm on this very issue but did nothing about it. (this too was a failure and he owns part of the blame)

I say the new House Leadership should re-work if not eliminate Fannie and Freddie.

This is not a democrat or a republican thing. It's a Leftist Progressive versus a Conservative issue. Both Dems and Republicans share the blame.

The new Repoblicans in control will also fall should they decide not to take corrective actions.

This just wasn't a win, it was a slaughter. the GOP picked up at least 60 House seats the biggest party turnover in more than 70 years! It was bigger than the Republican sweep in 1994!

Republicans also gained at least six Senate seats so far and the GOP also won 23 governorships!

And if you think about it, the Republicans will, in a sense, control the Senate. Most Democrats in the Senate will be up for re-election in 2 years, and after what they witnessed yesterday, they will not be so eager to support whatever Obama wants to push through.

My insomniac mind hasn't been able to grasp fully the immensity of last night's victory or slaughter, depending on your view. I know I managed to wake up this afternoon to the news that Alex Sink finally let reality SINK into her head and concede the election to Rick Scott. Now if I were just more awake to recognize the historical aspect of this.....maybe finally I can sleep better.....

The republicans have the lower house but any legislation they pass will not make it through the democratic Senate. If by some chance it does, the president still has the veto. It looks like health care reform is safe.

Not if those democrats want to be reelected in 2012.

Not hardly. We knew all along it would be after the next election before we could repeal health care successfully. What the GOP is going to do now is force a vote on the matter and make Democrats oppose it as a campaign issue in 2012. In addition, they will defund it, making it virtually null and void. It will take some time, but we will prevail.
