I misunderstood what you were saying. Of course the most important thing is the basics. The meats come later. I know that I was amazed at all the theories and doctrines that are out there, and I STILL don't know all of them! LOL
Guest Tigershark
Not to be rude, But I will have to pick this up tomorrow. Guest Tigershark
I wasn't gonna post in this thread. I wasn't. I wasn't. Sigh - - WIP, I admire that you stated that you "could be totally wrong" but will believe as you do until God tells you different. I say it all depends on what you are willing to "allow" yourself to acknowledge about Him, within your own life. He does not have to prove Himself to me, He has already done that, in far too many ways than I can even begin to express here. First though, through His Word being proved True. Remember Isaiah 9:6, Micah 5:2, Isaiah 7:14? Just to name a few? But that doesn't even begin to address His revelation of Himself in my "own personal" life. That I can't even begin to go into. But, I will say this, it is equivelant to Elihu's explanation of God's involvement. I would just take this particular portion to give to you Tiger, Job 33:12-14 perceive: to see, behold, observe, regard (Qal) to behold, observe to regard to watch, watch (stealthily), lie in wait 12 "But in this you are not right. I will answer you: God is greater than any mortal. 13 Why do you contend against him, saying, "He will answer none of my words'? 14 For God speaks in one way, and in two, though people do not perceive it. Maybe, you are putting the blame in the wrong place? Have you even considered the fact that maybe God does speak to you, you just do not perceive it? What about this day? Guest suzie
CD- You asked me about "many are called, but few are chosen", as in Matthew 22:14. This is a parable, not an actual experience. It is a parable about the kingdom of God. The kingdom of god is like a king, not a banquet. The king is obviously God who is inviting people to come to His wedding party. The problem is not with the invitation, but with the acceptance. Those not chosen are those who deliberately refuse the call; who do not accept the invitation. There were two types who refused. Some were indifferent and the others were rebellious. The indifferent went back to the self-centered life, seeking personal gain and comforts with no regard to the kingdom of God. The rebellious beat and killed the king's servants. This actually did happen in the early days of Christianity. Those not chosen are those who make no change after accepting the invitation. They were invited to a wedding, but they did not dress for it. God's movement toward man must be answered with man's movement toward God. God came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ, the died on the cross for our sins, resurrected from the dead to provide us eternal life. Man's movement toward God is the turning around, leaving the self-will and coming to the light.
