Fez ain't qualified to make a proper response to my challenge that ...

99.9% OF AMERICANS DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SHEPHERDS AND SHEEP!

'Cause she's from Sud Africa, for cryin' out loud!

Fez, can you hear me down there?

Don't know if I can hear you down here. My long blonde hair and my dangly earrings must be blocking my hearing.

I must try and do something about that :verkle:

What happened? Did you stumble into your wife's closet?

If we don't understand the depths of the relationship between shepherds and their sheep

... we obviously don't understand the depths of what Jesus is talking about concerning this.

Why?

What do you not understand?

The "door to the sheep" for one.

Read further in that passage and it is explained.

No, the passage doesn't explain how a shepherd became a door.

When being given a visual representation of a spiritual truth, one needs to have the visual to begin with.

That's not what you asked.

The "green pastures" takes on a different understanding when realizing they are small patches amidst desert rather than lush fields.

Things like that.

A pasture is a place of rest and relaxation. It's not about the size of the pasture, it's what the pasture represents. Whether it's a thousand acre pasture or a half acre pasture, what it represents is still the same. A place of rest.

If you are expecting thousands of acres of lush grass from God when in fact He is giving you small patches of greenery amidst the desert, you will be disappointed in God. ("You" in the general sense.)

But of course, you might not be a visual thinker, so that would make sense why it doesn't matter to you what the visual analogy was to begin with.

To be totally honest, I've never imagined that everyone would have their own little pasture. I always took that to be figurative.

I would wager that you, Sograteful, have no experience in shepherding, you probably just read a book about it. ...or am I mistaken?

...and, for someone who claims to possess such great knowledge, you have enlightened us precious little on the topic of shepherding.

Quote

Rare Bird

Things I know about sheep:

  • Sheep aren't burden-bearing animals
  • Sheep cannot be at rest/sleep unless they are laying down
  • Sheep can distinguish the voice/call of their shepherd from other shepherds
  • Sheep like to wander off
  • When held for sheering, they don't make a sound

I like this! and I am going to use it unashamedly! There is a preach in those five points!

Hey there is a preach in each of the points!

Thanks!

Preach it brother! That's why I brought 'em up.

Never been a shepherd. Watched a lot of 'em in Bulgaria.

I only brought the verses to your attention to help you, sorry!

Any other complaints, or is that it for today?
