It states: The Oath of Office: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Strangely enough, there is no mention of having to place one hand on the bible while reciting this, so neither side has a right to insist anything. Guest
There is no mention of God or the bible in the oath. Interesting US Constitution, Article II, Section 1 Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." http://www.president...thofoffice.html Stuff (I Think) Here is how the oath is supposed to be administered: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” And here’s how it went: ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama… OBAMA: I, Barack… ROBERTS: … do solemnly swear… OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear… ROBERTS: … that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully… OBAMA: … that I will execute… ROBERTS: … faithfully the office of president of the United States… OBAMA: … the office of president of the United States faithfully… ROBERTS: … and will to the best of my ability… OBAMA: … and will to the best of my ability… ROBERTS: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. OBAMA: … preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. ROBERTS: So help you God? OBAMA: So help me God. For any conspiracy theorists worried Obama isn’t president because the oath was a little off, the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that the new president assumes office at noon on Jan. 20. http://blogs.reuters...oath-of-office/ And Another Interesting Note (Or Not) Sen. Obama, who has taught courses in constitutional law at the University of Chicago, has regularly referred to himself as "a constitutional law professor," most famously at a March 30, 2007, fundraiser when he said, "I was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president I actually respect the Constitution." A spokesman for the Republican National Committee immediately took exception to Obama’s remarks, pointing out that Obama’s title at the University of Chicago was "senior lecturer" and not "professor." Recently, Hillary Clinton’s campaign has picked up on this charge. In a March 27 conference call with reporters, Clinton spokesman Phil Singer claimed:.... UC Law School statement: The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer." From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School’s Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined. http://www.factcheck...-law-professor/ lol ~ Now Ain't That A Kick In The Head ~ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-
Guest Editor1
God is giving our country what it is asking for. We are saying "we don't want you to run our lives any longer!" and He is saying "okay"....well that is just my opinion! I agree. People make choices and America (as a whole) has made its choice. They are a strong and independent people who don't want to be told what to do. If the price of blessings is obedience, the price was too high. There will always be a minority group who doesn't go along and that is certainly their right, too.
