When were these feast days like Trumpets, Tabernacles, and atonement abandoned.? Didn't Jesus and the Apostles celebrate them in the New Testament and continued long after Christ rose to Heaven? Revelation, and prophecies, shows us that all mankind will be forced to keep the Feast days in the future during the reign of Christ on earth. If God said these Feast days were to be kept forever, why don't we keep them now rather than holidays like Christmas and Easter that have pagan roots? Because these are the traditions that were passed down to us. If one can find a community of believers you can celebrate the Biblical feasts of the Lord with, it would be awesome to go back to. We should also not judge one another as to which festive days we do or do not hold to because we are told in Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth . But since we know God is opposed to anyone altering His revealed days of worship (Deut 12:32) we should understand it does matter to God what days we worship. There is a lack of divine authorization surrounding the replacement of God's annual feast days. Most of the days we celebrate now have evolved after the Apostolic era. When Jesus came, He did away with the old covenant (not the law). By the old covenant, you go to heaven by following the law-under the new covenant, you go to heaven by grace through Gods forgiveness. He didn't do away with the law-but He did change the purpose of the law, the law is there so that we know what sin is, but not to save us, Jesus did that. Following one said holiday over another, just because its in deuteronomy-thats no more then legalism and salvation by works, and its not scriptural. We are saved by grace through faith and not of works least any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Also, most of those holidays, such as pentacost, were to remind the Israelites of what God did for them, such as pentacost reminding them of God delivering them from Egypt. When Jesus came, He delivered us from sin, he was the completion of that deliverance during Moses day-so henceforth, pentacost, is no longer needed. Instead, Christ instituted Communion to remind us of what He did for us on the cross-that is one thing all christians should keep doing. Other days we should celebrate is Christs Birth, His death, and His resurrection-after all, its these 3 things, that have given us the freedom we have today-not what Moses did several thousand years before that. Moses didn't save us, Jesus did. It doesnt matter what day we celebrate christmas-or any other of the 2 major events, in fact we should probably celebrate them all year round-the important part is we remember what Christ did for us-not Moses. Like you Fruitfull, I try to honor God's Sabbath and other Feasts. but I do this as honor unto to God, not an act to be justified by. Because in Christ Jesus, I find my true REST (Matthew 11:28-30; Hebrews 4:9-10). For Paul states: 16) Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: 17) Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Colossians 2:16-17 So that we can see that all the feasts along with the Sabbath Day where all meant to bring us unto Christ Jesus. For Paul tells us that the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith, Galatians 3:24. Than he states that we have been adopted into the Family of God (Galatians 4:4-7), follow by this statement: 8) Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9) But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10) Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11) I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Galatians 4:8-11 IMO to want to honor God by following these Feasts and even the Sabbath is all fine, but to try to make it a basic requirement for Christians is to challenge the Finish and Complete Work of Jesus, John 19:30; Hebrews 10:14. I do celebrate holy days which were brought forward in the NT with a new set of commands and new meanings as the reality of the Mosaic shadow. The spring holy days of the Mosaic covenant have been fulfilled and are now directly about Jesus. The fall Holy days are still shadows/pointers to Jesus, when He returns. I do not view any holiday which celebrates God, and what Jesus did as pagan. To be a pagan holiday, they celebrate a pagan god. So Christmas, which is about Jesus birth, is not a pagan holiday. It is also not a biblically commanded holiday, but are a church tradition to honor the Lord. Nothing wrong with a tradition which honors the Lord. Qnts is right, any excuse to to honor God is a good excuse-but I don't hold to it being mandated we follow these holidays, as in theyre not essential to salvation and were not required to follow them.
