Why do most people keep holidays that are different from the Holy day festivals listed and described in the Bible?

When were these feast days like Trumpets, Tabernacles, and atonement abandoned.?

Didn't Jesus and the Apostles celebrate them in the New Testament and continued long after Christ rose to Heaven?

Revelation, and prophecies, shows us that all mankind will be forced to keep the Feast days in the future during the reign of Christ on earth.

If God said these Feast days were to be kept forever, why don't we keep them now rather than holidays like Christmas and Easter that have pagan roots?

Christ set the example by observing the Biblical Feast days-why don't we follow Him?

The saved today do not need to observe the Old Testament holy days.

Paul the apostle of the Gentiles wroet the following.

Colossians 2:16-17

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

This was mentioned earlier but to repeat re Col 2:16-17-

This was addressed to the Colossian Christians, a gentile, non-Jewish congregation.

From the context we see Paul, in this passage, is countering a local heresy, and doing so he actually confirms and explains the value of God's holy days to Christians. The Colossians were keeping the holydays and were being judged by other Colossians that were stirring up dissent.

He explains that the keeping of the holydays foreshadow things to come.

In other words, the focus of God's festivals is on the future.

remember false teachers were infiltrating the congregation in Colosse. These deceivers were trying to influence the Colossian Christians by introducing their own take on things.

Paul warned his congregation back in verse 8. about humanly devised traditions, not God's Holy days.

I do not keep OT holy days.

As Paul said, stop judging me.

See, your interpretation is wrong.

BTW, do you dwell in a booth once a year for a week sometime around October?

I am going to guess that you do not.

If not, you do not keep the OT holy days either.

Do not worry. I am with Paul. I will not judge you.

I do celebrate the God's holy days-day of atonement has past last week-the Feast of Tabernacles begins on Thursday Sept 19 until the 26th. Tens of thousands of Christians celebrate this in United States and Canada and around the world. We stay in hotels (today's equivalent of booths) and hold sermons in the conference halls. You can find this info on the internet and locations everyone is always welcomed- I will be off this site until probably the 27th or 28th-thank you for asking. Look at the Church of God websites for more about the feast days if you are interested.

Should Christians continue keeping the Feast days- 1Cor 11:23-27 -30 and 40 years after Christ's resurrection Paul shows mostly to a gentile people of Corinth that they observed a passover festival annually-with its new symbols of bread and wine.

Again, years later, Paul is telling gentile converts to keep the feast- 1 Cor 5:8

this has been covered before in some respect but it's your choice.

If you don't think it was commanded to be kept forever by everyone in the NT church and in our day and supposedly in the future when Jesus returns than that is your option but God holds us individually accountable for our spiritual actions.

What holidays do you have left when you dismiss the original Holydays that represent God's plan for salvation?

Only Mosaic Jews were commanded to keep the festivals.  No one else.  If you are going to claim that the festivals are required for the Church, you need to be able to display a clear passage of command in the New Testament.

Your take on 1 Corinthians 5:8 is a case of selective exegesis.

1 Corinthians 5:6-8  6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?  7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast-- as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.  8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.

Paul is not saying one should literally observe any festival.  He is making a spiritual point which has nothing to do with a certain day.

The day specifically mentioned here is the Passover-it has all the earmarks. and it should be kept forever-Ex 12:24.

The OT passover lamb has been replaced by Jesus as our sacrifice for sin. We have new symbols but we are told to keep this memorial-it is the first of God's Holy days.

Good day- The origin of marriage is of God.

The vows that we take in most marriage ceremonies refer to scripture in Genesis 2

We are honoring each other when committing to such vows-we do not honor a pagan god.

It's an agreement to share everything one has with his or her partner.

My wife and I don't have rings but the ring is only to affirm their commitment to each other. A symbol as such but in reference to pagan custom in its simple form, it is not considered ornamental as some might believe in 1 Tim 2.

Pagans would get on their knees to worship and sacrifice. We get on our knees to pray and worship god. The difference is the application.

This directly contradicts what you said in your OP.  You seem to have some internal inconsistencies when it comes to how you deal with things which you label "pagan."  In your original OP, Christmas was branded as bad, and could not be celebrated by a Christian because it was "pagan."  And yet above, when the pagan origins of the wedding ring and the wedding ceremony are pointed out, then these things are all about application.  If those things are about application, then it would logically follow that a Christian Christmas celebration would also be about application, not the so-called pagan roots.

So you are going to have to clarify.  Are all things with so-called pagan roots bad, or can we be personally selective about which ones are, and which ones are not?

But xmas and easter have nothing to do with Christianity and the Bible and are directly entangled with an enormous amount of customs and traditions that are unrelated to Jesus Christ.  Check out the origins of xmas and easter-but I must go and will carry on with this after the feast days are over-will elaborate more later but feel free to post any else regarding this thread- so far I haven't seen anybody, I may be mistaken, on here that celebrate the feast days of the early Christian church and the apostles only the holidays that evolved centuries later. Does anybody else keep the original feast days?

...  When the Church is started at Pentecost, we have no clear evidence that they continued to observe these feass....

I have to disagree with you on this.

"Pentecost" is the Greek work for Shavuot, also known as "The Feast of Weeks".

Described in Leviticus 23, The Feast of Weeks is the second of the three “solemn feasts” that all Jewish males were required to travel to Jerusalem to attend (Exodus 23:14-17, 34:22-23; Deuteronomy 16:16). This important feast gets its name from the fact that it starts seven full weeks, or exactly 50 days, after the Feast of the First Fruits. Since it takes place exactly 50 days after the previous feast, this feast is also known as “Pentecost” (Acts 2:1), which means fifty.

Each of three “solemn feasts”—Passover, The Feast of Weeks and The Feast of Tabernacles—required that all able-bodied Jewish males travel to Jerusalem to attend the feast and offer sacrifices....

Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/Feast-of-Weeks.html#ixzz2fG12CFdg

The evidence we have that the Apostles continued celebrating the feasts is found here:

Acts 20:16

For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted , if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

As is noted above, all able-bodied males were required to "appear before the Lord GOD" (by then, in Jerusalem where Temple was) for Pentecost. This is why Paul made the effort to be at Jerusalem that day.

Just curious,

What about meat with the blood, do you eat that?

How about lobster and shrimp, do you eat that?

I would say that Christians who stay in hotels for a conference can not really say they are celebrating Succoth. If they want to stay in a hotel and go to a conference on Succoth, that is fine with me, but just don't say you are celebrating Succoth, as that is being deceptive.
