I haven't read every post so forgive me if this has been said but it's really simple to answer the question

our "works" show what kind of "faith" we have.

No works at all show that we really have no faith.

Hi Anne,

God's blessings

Scripture teaches that we are commanded (ordered/instructed) to do the works that Christ Jesus did. They are listed in the book.

Walking with you in the spirit of peace and love.

Your brethren in Christ,

Repent1...

Your "works" are the things you do everyday. If they honor the One whom has given His life for you then your faith is real.

If these "works" are wicked then your faith is not.

Even if your "works" are good they must honor the Son...or they are filthy rags.

Greetings Yod and Repent, in Christ Jesus name

I totally agree, if as Christians we do works according to what is written in the Scriptures and do all according to the will of God, then we do right and are pleasing in God's eyes.

But often people become intangled in their own works and that of religion and God's will is nowhere to be seen, I have to say this makes me very sad.

They do not see the difference between their own will/works and that of God.

I remember a long time ago an old lady saying words to the effect of, "I've been a good person all my life and worked hard in my church, God will not send me to hell." The problem here was, to my knowledge, this lady had never received Christ Jesus as her saviour.

I'd rather be around people who have love for Christ Jesus, however i'd quite like the Atheist to be there too!

Greetings Anne,

I pray you the blessings of the Almighty :)

Anne I thank God without ceasing for you, by your words you have demonstrated the indwelling spirit and your fellowship with Christ,

[Matthews 12:35-37]

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

36 but I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Scripture admonishes (To remind of something forgotten or disregarded, as an obligation or a responsibility) us to be dead with Christ, that we might be raised in new life with Christ.

[You said]

But often people become intangled in their own works and that of religion and God's will is nowhere to be seen, I have to say this makes me very sad.

[My testimony]

If you are a person that has truly died in Christ, that

They do not see the difference between their own will/works and that of God.

If we have to "work at it" to do good "works" then they probably aren't so good after all. What James is speaking of when he says "faith without works is a dead faith" are the things which you just naturally do. They are the righteous behaviour of a godly saint going about his day.

It's really not anything grandiose that has to be required....just being faithful in the small things on a daily basis.

Anne

Would you rather be around a kind, loving atheist, or a hell raising christian?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

a hell-raising christian is showing by their (daily) works that they don't have faith at all.

Any "moral" behavior based on human reasoning is both senseless and vanity.

Morality comes from the most basic truth of God's law for governing human behavior. Love comes from God Himself.
