What would you do if something important is happening at work and your the last person to know. For example last Thanksgiving we were off on the following friday and everyone was told except me. One of my co-worker actually told me two days before that our boss told her not to tell me. This Christmas Eve we are working half day once again she was told not to tell me.

Before this woman started working with us it was the same thing with the other person in her position so I know that she's not making it up. I ignore it and just wait until they inform me, but its really starting to get to me. Just wondering what would your reaction be.

God Bless You

I would say it is a power trip. They want to see if you are going to assume that you are off, or just take the day off on hearsay. Maybe it hasn't been approved yet. Who knows, it sounds like they have something against you.

IS there someone you can speak with above the person handing out the orders to not inform you?

The boss is the owner of the business so no. Then again theres her husband, but telling him will only start something that I don't want to be involve in. Oh... I know they have something against me...Jesus Christ... He determines what I will or will not do and sometimes it goes against what they want me to do.

Well if I were in your shoes and this were a regular occurance, I would request that human resources give me a calendar or a list of all the "firm holidays." Then I wouldn't worry about whether the boss told me or not. Otherwise you have the right to know, so there's nothing out of line by talking to your boss directly about it. Not in an accusatory manner. But more like, "Hey, everytime we have time off I'm the last to know. Is there some reason for this, or am I missing something here?"

Are there other things at play here, Jacqueline, or is this the only thing? Do you have probable cause for suspecting that they are discriminating against you for some reason? If so then you should start a journal. Keep a journal at your desk and everytime there is a situation where you feel like you are being discriminated against, write it down in your journal with the date and time. If the discriminatory behavior is frequent and severe enough, you should sek legal counsel.

This situation is an on going thing and it involves ever aspect of the business, but I don't want to sue anyone. Sueing is something that they know and I'd rather leave them with something that they don't know. Forgiveness, love.

I would ask the boss if there was some point to not informing me of these things. "What purpose does it serve for the company?"
