That is clearly the case if we go by what is written, as pointed out by William L.

The prophecy denotes "thy people" Israel, "the messiah the Prince," and the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.

The messiah would also cause the sacrificial system to cease in the middle of the last week of probation for the Jews as a nation under the Kingship of God (theocracy - which had long been violated). That is the last week of years of the 70 weeks of years.

See Post #11.

The abominations were those of the Jewish nation under a corrupt leadership. They had desecrated the temple, as said by Christ, and as a result their house would be left "unto you desolate" in the words of Christ.

The end of the sacrificial system was signified by the tearing of the temple veil from top to bottom, showing that it was over, and that the ark was not even in the most holy place, symbolic of their godless rituals.

The people of the prince (lower case p) that would come after messiah the Prince (upper case P) would destroy the city Jerusalem, as predicted by Christ who was referring to this prophecy in Daniel.

The abominations committed by the Jewish leadership, would not end with the destruction of Jerusalem. They would increase with other religious leaders and become the Antichrist which would rule for 1260 years. Daniel felt sick. Not only would Israel fail to honor Christ, but the world would do the same through a great religious abomination - the horn power, which rules for 3 and a half years or 1260 days /years.

This scenario is described in Daniel 8 as an issue which affects heaven, the role of the sanctuary in heaven of which Christ is the high priest for the world, replaced by a system of false priests through the Papacy.

Then it goes on to say that the role of this sanctuary service for the world would be undermined and trodden underfoot for a long time, and would come to an end at the end of the 2300 years. Note Daniel 12 - it would take place after the 1260 years of the reign of the Antichrist. 538 AD to 1798 AD.

A summary of Daniel is this - The kingdom of Babylon would be overcome by the Persians, then the Greek kingdom would take over, then the Roman. In those days the Messiah would come, but the days of Israel as a chosen nation would come to an end, and the times of the Gentiles would begin. The sanctuary service in heaven would begin with Christ having provided His own sacrifice on earth, and gone to heaven. But the Christian world would decline and the Antichrist would be set up 30 years before its reign of 1260 years, then the end of the 2300 days would come, and the last and final phase of the ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary would start.

The sanctuary would be cleansed - Daniel 8.

The horn of the Antichrist within the divided kingdom of Rome by Europe, would remain until the end of the world and the beginning of the Kingdom of God

There are hundreds of end time versions, as people take these old time prophecies, or actually make up their own altogether, and reapply them into the future, or apply them all away back in the past, but they are a panoramic view of the world from the time of Daniel to the end. All the time is covered, no misplaced applications necessary. Even Christ gave these prophecies their correct application.

All the time lines have a definite beginning and ending, all in the context of the longest time frame - the 2300 days / years.
