God is love and He is not a name caller. Why does He use the word "worthless" in the Bible?

Judges 9:4 So they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, with which Abimelech hired worthless and reckless men; and they followed him.

My guess would be that some focused on self-gratification.

Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, LORD our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this. Jeremiah 14:22 (NIV)

judges 9:4

the passage does not mean about valueless as in not having worth. But as in that the men he hired were Godless and dangerous ; thought nothing of assassinating  Abimelech's brothers

The Hebrew word req means empty, foolish, and idle, hence worthless.  And while God is Love, He is also Truth, and He gives us the true value of these individuals.  That is not "name calling" but calling a spade a spade.  See what Jesus had to say about the scribes, lawyers, and Pharisees.  His judgment was harsh but true.
