I certainly don't advocate lying under normal conditions but in some situations I don't think God would mind. For example, say, if a murderer breaks into your house and is holding you at gunpoint. Your daughter is in another room and the guy asks if there is anyone else home. In order to try and protect your daughter you lie and say no. Is that a sin? I don't think so.
