Just pointing out that until there was a sun, there would be no literal evenings or mornings. Hebrew specifically refers to those with respect to the sun. It's a literary procédé as is often seen in a articles in educational journals. First there is an abstract that highlights the major points followed by restating that information in the body of the paper with more precise details. A master's thesis and a doctoral dissertation also uses this same style.

Gen. 1:3-5 (WEB) 3 God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day. No. By definition in both Hebrew and English, "evening" is when the sun goes down, and "morning" is when it appears. "Big light in the sky" is not what either of those mean. That is adding to scripture and also a pretty poor speculation at that. The word of God does not state that God created another "sun" before he created the Sun and the Moon. God said "let there be light." When the Sun of our solar system is created God said - 14 ... Let there be lights in the vaulted dome of heaven to separate day from night, and let them be as signs and for appointed times, and for days and years, Also the speculation is nonsensical for if God created a ball of burning gas - a star in the first 'day' - then it would make sense to create our Sun from the beginning as the pivotal point for all further creation of the solar system. Let there be light is a declaration by God that the Creator is now present to begin the process of time in the universe and for our world.
