Bible Verses (taking turns posting a verse from a Bible book)

                                                                  Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah,

                                                                   in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre,

                                                                   the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth;

                                                                   there Abraham was buried with Sarah his wife.

                                                                   It came about after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac;

                                                                   and Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi. Genesis 25:9-11

The Midrash Yalkut Shimoni has a fascinating take on the three wives of Abraham: “Sarah was the daughter of Shem, Keturah was the daughter of Japheth, and Hagar was the daughter of Ham.” In other words, Abraham married (and had children) from the three families of Noah. www.chabad.org

                     Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

                     And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations:

  the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and  Mibsam, And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa, Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

                     These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

            And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died, and was gathered unto his people.

                      And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren. Gen 25:12-20

You can easily see by this, Ishmael and his descendants were blessed here on this earth in the flesh. The twelve sons were twelve princes and even had castles. They were wealthy and had much prestige among their nations. In contrast, Isaac's blessing was spiritual. These sons had Egyptian ancestry and were Arabs. www.bible-studys.org/index.html

'And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son:
.. Abraham begat Isaac:
.... And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife,
...... the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram,
........ the sister to Laban the Syrian.
And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife,
.. because she was barren:
and the LORD was intreated of him,
.. and Rebekah his wife conceived.
.... And the children struggled together within her;
...... and she said, "If it be so, why am I thus?"
........ And she went to enquire of the LORD.
And the LORD said unto her,
.. "Two nations are in thy womb,
.... and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels;
...... and the one people shall be stronger than the other people;
........ and the elder shall serve the younger."'

'And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled,
.. behold, there were twins in her womb.
.... And the first came out red,
...... all over like an hairy garment;
........ and they called his name Esau.
And after that came his brother out,
.. and his hand took hold on Esau's heel;
.... and his name was called Jacob:
...... and Isaac was threescore years old
........ when she bare them.'

(Genesis 25:24-26)

When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field,

but Jacob was a peaceful man, living in tents.

Now Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for game, but Rebekah loved Jacob. Genesis 25:27-28

And Jacob sod pottage:

and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. (red)

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day, and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils;

and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way:

thus Esau despised his birthright. Genesis 25:29-34

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham.

       And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. (Canaan)

     And the LORD appeared unto him, and said,

                 Go not down into Egypt;

             dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

          Sojourn in this land and I will be with thee, and will bless thee;

      for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries,

   and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

             And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven,

             and will give unto thy seed all these countries;

             and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

     Because that Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Genesis 26:1-5

Genesis 26:15-25

15 So all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.

16 Then Abimelek said to Isaac, “Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us.”

17 So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar,where he settled. 18 Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.

19 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. 20 But the herders of Gerar quarreled with those of Isaac and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek,[a] because they disputed with him. 21 Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.[b] 22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth,[c]saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”

23 From there he went up to Beersheba. 24 That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

25 Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well.

And long ago , the WORD became flesh and gives all who does drink of the well of the fountain of the water of life .

And nigh two thousand years later ,   brother pumpkin , and the sisters and all who love the LORD said , WE have but ONE FOUTAIN , FOUND and prepared for us In CHRIST .

and from those waters , that fountain , that well, we do drink and shall rejoice IN THE LORD .  For all who drink of these waters shall never die

and from their bellies spring up waters of His life .   And all the people said ,  PRAISE THE LORD .    PRAISE THE LORD .     Praise the LORD .
