Guest shiloh357
You are exactly right. It speaks of the day of the vengence of our God. It is otherwise known as "The Day of The Lord." The rest of the chapter goes into an amazing description of Israel's future and God's future blessing upon the all the nations of the world. Guest Zayit
Excellent Shiloh! I had never put the two together before! Its so exciting and fills you with such love and wonder when you see the continuity between the Old and the New Testaments! I am reading "The Temple Its Ministry and Services" by Alfred Edersheim, have you ever read it??? Keep up the good work, we all need this! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have that book, it's an excellent read. For those who can't get their hands on a copy ( as they were originally printed in the 1800's), go here for online reading http://philologos.org/__eb-bhot/default.htm and for the one about the temple here http://philologos.org/__eb-ttms/default.htm

The observation of Shavuot on the second day was instituted by the Rabbim as a way to make sure you 'observed' it. I don't see the logic. If you don't know the exact time, what good will it do to observe it for a second day, so as to 'make sure' you observed it? This sounds foolish to me. It's the heart that matters not the day. Maybe we should observe all the moedim all at once, so as to make sure we will observe them this year? This is the logic I see in this type of "oral law". Guest Zayit
Well, I observed it over 50days ago so that is moot for me. I don't believe in following a 500year old predetermined calendar either. But my Jewish calendar in front of my desk here says that erev Shavu'ot was last night ( IN THE 13TH day of june SPACE) , with it ending today? So did you stay up all night? I lasted until about 5am...................................you do say some silly things though when trying to play bible trivia that late!
