Little wonder. At least eight million people read this issue and when I wrote to NG, they didn't tell me others had reported the same error. Look carefully at the stalagmites at the bottom of the cave. There are no corresponding stalagtites at the top, which are necessary to drip and form the stalagmites. Then look above at the mushroom formation with fingerlets all pointing up. Minerals don't drip up, the drip down. So this picture is UPSIDE DOWN! And not one person in a million catches it. The lesson is that even with the same information, many people don't pay attention. They don't discern facts properly.
