She was answering questions about her faith and her beliefs. Then they will buy the hair from another women to cover their head with. Paul tells us: "if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering". (1Cor11:15) I see women at the alter with long hair and long dresses as a sign of their modesty and they spend longs amounts of time in prayer. We are told: " a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels. They are not Christian, but are Jewish following Jewish customs and traditions. The tradition is based on of teaching to enforce modesty.
