What kind of ornament makes us beautiful before Jesus and before the men? (Part 1).

Everyone pine for being accepted. And one of the things that counts, in our society, is beauty. So much so that, one of the reasons for which Jesus wasn’t welcomed by the Jews was His ugly appearance:

•    “For He comes up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground; He has no form nor majesty that we should see Him, nor an appearance that we should desire Him.” (Isa 53:2).

Nonetheless, did you really thought over what really make us to build sound relationships? The outward beauty can enthrall at the first moment. Beautiful people can entice, but what kind of people will hold on to them?

•    “And they said to him, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.” (Luke 17:37).

To whom do we wish to keep close to us? Pigs, Dogs? If yes, see what Jesus warned us about?

•    “Do not give that which is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and tear you.” (Mat 7:6).

This is the end of those who try to coax people through the supposed beauty of their body or apparel:

•    “Like a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a beautiful woman who turns aside discretion.” (Pro 11:22).

For those who desire to enthrall using external beauty, think: and when this beauty get lost (for instance, in virtue of the aging (2Cor 4:16)?

In particular, for the women, the best thing to do is to follow Paul’s and Peter’s advice:

•    “In the same way also, I desire that women adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and sensibleness, not adorned with braiding, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing, but with good works, which becomes women professing godliness.” (1Tim 2:9,10).
•    “Likewise, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that if any do not obey the Word, they may also be won without the Word by the conduct of the wives, having witnessed your chaste behavior in the fear of God. Of whom let not be the adorning of garments, or outward braiding of hair and wearing of gold, or of putting on clothing, but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God. For so once indeed the holy women hoping in God adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands; as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children you became, doing good and fearing no terror.” (1Pe 3:1-6).

Whatever, either man and woman ought to focus in procuring the growth of the character receiving, inside them, the beauty that there is in the holiness of the Creator (Ps 29:2; 96:9).

So, have a good day, making of Jesus and His character your beauty. Tomorrow we will carry on.
