Why the great tribulation will be 7 years but shortened.

The 2 Witnesses of God (probably Moses and Elijah) will replace the church and minister to the world for 3.5 years. This is the first half of the great tribulation.

Rev 11:³ And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days.....

These 2 Witnesses shall be killed by the beast from bottomless pit after 3,5 years and therefore nobody will hold the antichrist from ruling the world any longer.

Rev 11:7  Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.

This timing is the clue that the beast shall come up from the opened abyss to finish the 2 witnesses by the 5th sound of trumpet, which showed that the 5th trumpet shall be blown at the end of the first  3,5 years of great tribulation.

The beast from bottomless pit will then heal and empower antichrist who shall be wounded : Rev 13 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.

It means the beast and antichrist will be as one entity to rule the world, thats why it is called : Once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss. This beast will "annoint" antichrist as the fake messiah and will impersonate Jesus who represent God (this spirit chanelling is commonly found around the world)

Rev 17:8 The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.

As the 2 witnesses has gone and antichrist has been healed from deadly wound he will be given 42 months to rule the world which makes the great tribulation length to become 7 years.

Rev 13 5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.

THERE WILL BE PEOPLE IN THE FIRST HALF OF GREAT TRIBULATION WHO SUFFER SO MUCH AND WILL BELIEVE IN THE 2 WITNESSES, THESE PEOPLE SHALL BE DEFEATED BY ANTICHRIST : Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High.

What shall happen to those believers who refuse to worship antichrist is explained here : Rev 13:10 “If anyone is to go into captivity  into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed^.

^{The great tribulation will be shortened to safe the Elect (those destined to go into captivity).} 

Matt 24:22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

Those saints destined to be killed with sword in the 2nd half of GT will go directly under the Altar, joining those who have already been there by the 5th Seal opening in the FIRST half of GT.

The massive killing of Christians in the world begins at the first half of the GT after the 2nd Seal is opened, peace is removed and there will be no more religious tolerance in the world. Religion will fight religions, tribe against tribe, nation against nation, colour against non colour. Foolish virgins who renew their Oil may be the first martyrs to go under the Altar, probably killed by the absence of religious tolerance.

HOWEVER THERE WILL BE SAINTS IN HEAVEN WHO ARE NOT DESTINED TO GO INTO CAPTIVITY OR TO BE KILLED :

Rev 7 ¹³ Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”

¹⁴ I answered, “Sir, you know.”  And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation Never again will they hunger;...never again will they thirst.....

THEY ARE OT SAINTS AND OF THE CHURCH ERA AND THEY ARE SAFE AS THEY WILL ALWAYS BE WITH THE LORD.

1 Thes 4 ¹⁶ For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a ^[d]shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. ¹⁷ Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
